Superb sir glad you and jock had a great day it was a floating line for myself and daughter that day fished a sussy pheasant tail on point and two other buzzers that did job for us was one of best days out had all the guys in club got fish
Hi Lindsay great vid the lake looks fantastic heading up there with my club next Thursday for our May loch style competition practice on Friday comp on Saturday never fished it before so can’t wait all the very best and tight lines.
@@lindsayiflyfish Looking forward to the next two. I've never fished Harelaw but hear good reports about it but we're fishing Loch Leven on Saturday 10th June...hopefully pick up some hints and tips from you guys.
With international rules. Nay snakes sulks. Squirmy is too wormy. An Okey just might be dokey. The quality of fish was great. Perfectly fit with spades for tails. Well worth the extra miles and hours of driving to get there. With Jock in the boat as well. That is just the icing on the cake. Yes you are in competition with one your best long term friends. So the Kit Kat Cup is the extra nostalgia, tradition and nod back to your days of serious competition fishing.
@@lindsayiflyfish Always good to see how others attack a water, especially with the competition mindset and lock style. Pretty new to it so its educational.

Hi James thanks, take a look at this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VuSf2oOP4Ro.html explains how to set up with leader lengths.
@Lindsay Simpson Fly Fishing hi Lindsay ,thanks so so much for such a speedy reply , truly zm grateful. Love all your U tube vids ,fishing and tying. I've learned so much from them both. Many thanks from Dumfriesshire pal. Tightlines and take care mate. 🙂
Hi, Guys. Gr8 videos. Can i ask, could eighther one of you give me some info regarding fishing clubs? I’m looking to join a club where i can learn from more experienced anglers and get more involved in comp fishing. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Ben.
Brilliant boys . Looking forward to the other two. The lake is a stunning place to fish only downside for me is lack of a jetty , And it could do with more coulam boats . Apart from that 👍
One of the bonuses of Menteith for me, is that it doesn’t have a jetty. After a serious illness a number of years ago I was left with no feeling in my feet, leaving me with serious balance issues. So accessing and leaving boat from a jetty is a difficulty for me. Menteith is easy, step in get pushed out and away I go.
@lindsayiflyfish no need for that. I was there when Jocks dad hit him aff the pus wi a flying baffie in hos hoose up Sligo Street. He was about 15 and sucking his thumb 😆 We then went up the Black Devon trotting for trout wi blackhead worms, which Jock dug up over the park. Ask Jock, he'll know what I'm talking about.
@@lindsayiflyfish Let's try to educate the masses on the nuances of Scotland, not diminish ourselves to the lowest common denominator. Now, Americans are going to think there are lakes in Scotland, instead of only ONE amongst the 30,000-odd lochs!
Yes, there is one official lake in Scotland. It’s called the Lake of Menteith and is located near Stirling in central Scotland. We’re not completely sure why the Lake of Menteith is called a lake and not a loch. However, it’s thought to be something to do with English influence. Until the 19th century, there are records of Menteith being called a loch. However, one theory is that in 1838 when the UK Government’s Ordnance Survey mapped the area they named it a lake instead and this became cemented.
