When one of your favorite sellers says "I have some old photos and paper", you know it's going to be a great day! #fleamarket #ephemera #oldphotos Follow me on Instagram @paperandmoose
Dear Renee, I must be feeling melancholy today, because as I saw the beautiful photos of someone's ancestors so carefully preserved, my thoughts turned to question why most people no longer care about their predecessors and who they were. It makes my heart hurt that there may be no family left or none remain who care. On a lighter note, I wish I could be at your sale. I'd buy the lovely hankies, the big black tub and the folding laundry rack! I watch all your videos and do so enjoy them all. Have a blessed day 💖✝
It makes me so sad to see people’s ancestors at a flea market. There is many people searching for their past. However there are many more who just don’t care. So sad. I’m so happy you have them and appreciate them. You are a light in this world.
Hey Renee. I watch you all the time. When I was a little girl Santa got me a Poor Pitiful Pearl doll. When I saw it I starting crying.Mom and Dad said don't you like your doll ? I said no she's ugly. Boy I wished I still had it. Thanks so much for sharing.
It looked like that doll was an original Hitchcock prop from ‘ The Birds’ till it was fully shown and yes, it had eyes. Big eyes. A cornucopia of paper and lush albums from ‘ The Toteman’ and the magic man ‘ Jimmy’ and his kind heart. Lovely little horseshoe frame Renee, and I was happy you snagged the vintage Snoopy and Woodstock item. All classy and cool….😎
What an amazing flea market haul! The photo albums are amazing & the doll, well, the doll is the stuff of nightmares, but she's a great find. I think I'm the only person who still has a thing for the penguin ice bucket. I know it's everywhere, but it's got a great look.
I don't really find the penguin ice bucket that often. I think this might be the second one that I've come across. It does have a great look and now I am thinking about how it could be used in decorating for winter...many possibilities!
You have an amazing collection of vintage Christmas decor. The penguin ice bucket would look great with it. I love the holiday display videos you did, especially the ones featuring thrifted Halloween decor. I'm down for any new decorating videos from Paper & Moose. @@PaperandMoose
That chrome spherical ice cube container with the penguins on the side. I would have grabbed it in a heart beat, my parents had one just like it 60 years ago when I was 4.
Loved your purchases! Im so glad you were able to get them. Thank you, Jimmy, for keeping her in mind. I love the old hankies with the decoration on the corner. My grandmother sent us those quit often for Christmas. We couldn't wait for that package because we knew it would have her walnut fudge in there. It was so very good. Anyway, thanks for the memories again. Love ya! Stay safe and healthy. ❤️😘💕💕💕🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✌️
Jimmy and The Tote Man. Sounds like the name of a jug band. ;-) Great finds, Renee! A great day at flea market! I really like that Snoopy and Woodstock desk organizer and the class of ‘72 pin. Groovy! ;-)
Omg! You find the coolest stuff! Ledgers, scrapbooks, Snoopy and the antique photos!! I would love to have a couple of those photos and make a junk journal with the story of their lives!! How fun! What amazing funds!
Hi Renee. Jimmy hooked you up with some cool albums. The doll looked a bit creepy to me. But for a buyer it can make good money 🤑. This sure was a good day to go for a Flea Market day. Thank you for an amazing video Renee. God Bless you. HUGS 🤗. Mari'a. 🤗❤️🤗❤️🤑🤑🤑👍👍👍👋👋👋🌼🌸🌺😎😎😎😎😎😎
Great to see the flashlight brigade in action again ! Kudos to Jimmy getting all this very neat paper items for you, my absolute favorites are the antique photo albums . Probably pre 1900, with names on it, so you got excellent conditions for some research. 👍 The doll, yesss, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but nonetheless she is from the 1960s and worth a pretty penny, like you said. 😉Bummer that garden gnomes came totally out of fashion during the past decades, hard to find some vintage items in pristine condition over here. Keep being yourself, and see you on the next one !🖐 Greets from GER, U.
The garden gnomes are big hits at auctions, that's where I usually see them the most. I had one that "sits" on stairs but a critter must have knocked him over & off went his leg! The albums will go into my research pile, though I'll have a little video tomorrow showing off one of the smaller photo albums with a tiny snippet of history mixed in. Can't resist a little research :0)
Hello Renee. I e got to ask how could you not get the gnome and mushroom?🍄. It was so cute . I’m so happy you got the photo albums from Jimmy those pictures are amazing. Ok and I love the doll , it’s so cute. You did amazing at the flea market. You find some really cool things every time. Take care. Hope your week is fabulous. 🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️☕️🫖☕️🫖☕️🫖🥰🥰🥰💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Sad-Eyed POSSESSED Girl - remind me of Jodie the pig in The Amityville Horror with the red eyes. But glad it will bring a good return. The Tote Man must be a super-chill guy - people unloading my trailer for me, etc. would bring out my control freak in a bad way. The mirror is pretty cool - that's one of those things you buy because you know you can do something really fab with it even though it might take several years to figure out exactly what. The Victorian Albums - wow. I know you wouldn't sell those but they would bring a buck or two online - you have a great friend in Jimmy (& Blue). Funny when you went to open the one that still had the clasp - of course you assumed it would not be there (as I would have). I wonder if you can still buy albums today (new) that look and work like those Victorian ones? They would cost a fortune to make. I went to the FM here Saturday - lot of neat stuff but didn't buy anything. Listed a few things on various sites instead to prove I am not a hoarder :). Hope you have a great Monday afternoon and have some exciting stuff going on this week!
"Prove I am not a hoarder" haha :0) I'm sure many of us feel that same way! The Tote Man knows that us helping him unload his trailer is all a part of the experience shopping with him & it also gets the totes out pretty quickly! There are those that always help unload and those that will wait for the totes to be placed out. I do both, depending on how congested it gets in the trailer. There's the little side door too, but on this day, I knew that grabbing something from the top was going to cause an avalanche and I didn't want to be responsible for that haha. I do wonder how much the photo albums cost back then, as some were quite ornate. Now I must do some looking at old newspapers to see if there are clues on prices! Hope that you have a great week this week!
Renee, did you remember to bring some of the treats from the storage locker for Blue?? Jimmy really did come through for you. Great finds. Glad flea market season is starting on a good note for you.
Quite often around the turn of the century, Families rarely got photos taken. Sometimes when a child would die, they would be propped up with their siblings and a photo taken. Something to keep an eye out for.
I have an original Blythe doll by Kenner! Complete with 2 outfits, shoes, glasses and a blonde wig. LOL. I got it when I was 7 in 1972. No original box though.
I thought the doll may have been a Blythe doll too, but still a great find. I love all the ephemera you found too. It is so interesting looking at all the old pictures.
Can't be only one who watches you trawling through treasure who 'tries' to look around the screen to get a better view of what you're looking at 😂Nice albums - don't know how you find the time to go through them all; what do you do with them afterwards?
Looked like you did well I thought that was a Blythe doll too at first, I found one years ago and I sold it for crazy price Looking forward to my Tuesday flea market tomorrow…Wish me luck?
Oh my I have just stumbled across your channel and when I saw you going through the old photo books I almost cried. We never see that sort of thing at stalls in Australia. You are so lucky.
I'm "Talky Tina!"....put me back into the Twilight Zone!! In my estate sale golden days...I'd run across sooo many of those chrome penguin ice buckets, every household seemingly had one on the sideboard! What a great haul!
@@PaperandMoose Oh, I'm sure there is a frog-themed ice bucket in existence somewhere! Those very old photo albums you got are quite a prize! I'm sure you are enjoying your peek at the past through them!
Hi Renee! Ooh, those photo albums! I’ve often wondered if there are names inside; do you try to research who all those people were? Have you ever reunited a long lost album with relatives? 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I once saw a story of a woman in your part of the country that does just that💜 It makes me sad to see those pictures plucked from albums and sold singly at antique stores🥲 I once “rescued” an album that had a note inside “from Bernie’s attic” This was long before FB or Ancestry. I held onto it for years, then donated it to the local Historical Society, hoping they could find some past connection. I have many photos of my ancestors, but would be ecstatic to find a whole album!🥰 Loved the ledger ! Interesting seeing how much things cost back “in the day”😵💫r As always, a good picking video…have yourself a great week!🌷
Those red antique photo albums are beautiful! I am curious Miss Renee if you keep them and look at them often or sell them to others. It takes a unique person to enjoy looking at photos of others who you aren’t related to or familiar with. But I will admit those antique photos are fun to look at.
I just had a cup of tea with the honey in it, a nice little wind-down before bed. Got the wildflower honey, but the man also has raspberry, so I might pick one of those up too. As long as I do not see those doll eyes looking at me in the middle of the night, I'm good :0)
In working on my ancestry its truly hard to find photos of them. What a find. I can't believe the families let them go though I know after I am gone my son will have my ancestry information and it will remain in a box until he is gone, lol the reality of life. The tote man came through!!!!😎
Please look into the railroad photo. There are some smaller Jersey shore lines that are highly collected. I've sold tattered scraps of ephemera for crazy money. The lines near Long Beach Island seem to be best. Good luck.
Hi Renee. I love all the ephemera you found. So awesome. The doll you found is not Poor PitifulPearli have 2 0f them. One from my childhood. and another i bought. I love poor pitiful pearl. Dont mean to sound mean. Love your videos? Take care.
What? You didn't buy the elephant? Someone has - with love and care - sewn it from grandfather's old woolen socks, a true treasure!! Wouldn't surprise me if it was the same grandfather who drank all the Chivas Regal too. An adequate Whisky, not exactly "exciting" but adequate. It might also be an idea to pick up the last supper, in case it's a sketch Leonardo made before he embarked on the big picture? Or big, it is when truth be told, which it should be, a rather small picture. After all, you will have a better chance of finding an original da Vinci in the wild than a Gutenberg Bible.
No microphone intro before dawn so disappointed 😞 Lol just pickin. When the girls would get on the bus looking all gorgeous just like you were this mornin the buss driver would ask them" what ya hav for breakfast this mornin...fried chicken" and I'd just loose it he was such a nut lol .....lipgloss is awesome 🫦🥰 luv the old photos I can sit an study them for hours👍
Hmmm Those picture albums are starting to call out for more of your old fashioned stories of days gone by, you have names to boot👢I wonder what their lives were like ? I'd like to have peek into their world 🇨🇦🦩
Hi Renee..just curious, when you buy from the tote man does he just shoot you a price and are his prices reasonable? he seems to be very popular. You have totally gotten me interested in ephemera. Thanks for all the great videos. 😊
For the Tote Man, he gives you a bulk price if you buy several items. Some of the larger things, like if there’s furniture, that’s priced individually. I feel his prices are reasonable, especially since he brings new things every week.
