The Best Fly Fishing Lanyard I have found on the market, is without question the Golden Trout Lanyards Gamechanger 2.
This is not a paid advertisement and I purchased this item with my own money
This lanyard helps me keep all of my fly fishing gear that I use for trout and other Missouri fish, close at hand and well organized. As a youtuber, I have to carry cameras, tripods, microphones, batteries and more which ends up making my Patagonia Stormsurge 35 liter backpack a little cumbersome to swing back and forth every time I want to change a fly.
The Gamechanger 2 allows me to keep a small selection of 30 flies, 10 spools of tippet, floatant, strike indicators, split shot, nippers and hemostats right in front of me, without being cumbersome or warm in the summer months like many chest packs can be.
I'm able to wear just a t-shirt, shorts and sandals while wet wading and keep all of my essential kit available without looking like a total goon.
Golden Trout Lanyards are a custom, made to order product with about as many options as you can possibly imagine. They have tons of colors and attachment points to choose from and Steve the owner is super easy to work with. That being said, they do offer some stock options from time to time on their website.

I’ve been able to build a great relationship with the owner that I’m sure will last for years to come. I’m in love with the lanyard, it’s definitely my go to for wet wading trips where I want to keep things minimal.

There seems to be something wrong with that website. It takes you to site that sells bulk ID lanyards and holders.

Looks great but due to the magnets, I can't wear it as I have a pacemaker and defibrillator. They need to incorporate a warning tag on their product. I bought a Simms shoulder pack and cant use it due to the magnets. Regards from down-under in NZ.

I know Steve would be more then happy to remove the rare earth magnets and substitute another fly box that doesn’t have them either. Steve is an awesome guy and really works with customers to dial in what they need. Shoot him an email, he’ll figure it out for you.

Thanks for the review. Could you tell me if you use a chest pack in conjunction with the lanyard? Also, how do you set up a landing net when using the lanyard?

Alex, thanks so much for watching it. I’d say if you were wearing a cheat pack, you wouldn’t need the lanyard as you’d already have spots for everything this carries. I normally wear my landing net in a fishpond wading best that has a holster in the back, or my Simms dry creek waist pack also has a net holster. Cheers and thanks for the questions.

That's a challenge. C&F Fly Boxes doesn't import to the U.S. anymore to my knowledge. I know Steve has created some new options with Tacky boxes and other options, or you can supply your own C&F box and he'll do the rest. I would email him at GTLanyards@gmail.com. He takes breaks from time to time so be patient. He's an awesome dude.

Mike, great question. I was using the Patagonia Storm Surge 30L backpack. That being said, I've sold that bag and switched to the newest version of the Simms Dry Creek Z, 35L backpack. It's got a more supportive waste belt, a better net holder and an internal sleeve pocket organizer that I prefer to the the patagonia design. I have a full review of the new Simms bag coming out in the next couple weeks.
