I feel like Zamboanga is the epitome of the Filipino collective culture. More than Manila and other places in the archipelago. It is a beautiful dance of our hispanic-asian collective identity coupled with islamic influence. It is a mestizo (mixed) culture which is what Filipino culture fundamentally is.
Chaka Oof Ka 100% agree. Most other areas in Philippines have practically forgotten the Hispanic heritage. The media is more focused on American influenced contents.
Indeed, the most diverse city in the philippines. 8 different tribes and ethnicities living together in one city. You can never find that anywhere else in the philippines.

Thank you for this video. My Lola was born in Zamboanga in 1924 and just passed away Dec 2018. I don't know that she's ever been back since leaving for Pampanga as a teenager. Just to see her birthplace is a special blessing and explains so much about her.
