Nikol, I don’t wear foundation or concealer and you are so right your skin is so important and the first thing everyone sees. I love watching you and hearing what you have to teach. I am Two years into my grey hair “ Sparkle” journey🙌🏻 I also love how you look real and are aging with class and grace. I started a 14 day beauty anti aging challenge today and I would love you to stop by and say hello . Have a fabulous day everyone 🙌🏻🍑Lisa
I have been using that CoverGirl foundation for about 2 years and really love it. He gives good coverage, long lasting and my skin has never looked better because of the extras in it
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with this community!!! I have some products that I purchased several months ago, that I will try (and maybe send you a picture). My 40th anniversary is on Sunday and I am planning on doing some makeup (lightly) for this beautiful occasion 💜💜 (although I know my husband doesn’t think I need it)
I love my Estee Lauder one!! I apply it with a BB and it gives me the most smoothest flawless finish!! GA did not do anything for me, the coverage wasnt there and not to mention the price! I am 56 and will continue to use EL..I use a Mac pump on it, it fits perfectly, had an old bottle so did not have to buy a pump from EL....:)
As soon as you said $64 I knew it was GA....it’s SO gorgeous. I tend to save it for special occasions due to the price, but I LOVE it. The Chanel sounds wonderful too. ELDW is a cult classic...I used it from age 30 to 45....had to stop because it started making me look older as I my skin changed. Current favs for my 61 year old dry skin: L’Oréal Pro Glow, IT Cosmetics your skin but better plus skin care, and PF The Healthy Foundation. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
I've bought numerous high end foundations. I have Chanel, Armani, Tom Ford, etc. in my drawer right now. All disappointing. And guess what? FitMe from Maybelline, at less than $10, is the best for me. I love it so much I began doing a full makeup every morning, even when I would be home all day! It has given me so much confidence, especially for work where I conduct lots of zoom meetings. People have asked what I'm doing different. One asked me jokingly if I'm pregnant because I was "glowing"! (I'm 67.) So the lesson is you've got to keep trying until you find the right one. An expensive contest, but ultimately worth it!
Thank you, thank you, and thank you. I will certainly give it try. I’m 71 so any natural glow I had has been gone for quite some time. I really appreciate responding to me. What do you use for a skin care scrub? I still have oily skin so I need to remove the dry skin to avoid outbreaks at my age! I found one but it’s extremely expensive. Do you have a favorite type of moisturizer? Also, (I know I’m asking a lot) do you wear eyeliner on both top and bottom? Do you use a neutralizer like a green or pink applied under your foundation? Thank you for help, Vicki
Oh Nikol, I watched the le mere dupe video and went for the Bobbie Brown. Way Spendy for me! I do love your candid irreverent love you give us. With Covid, I barely wear makeup now, but in April, my company may open our offices again and I have to look put together. Till then, keep up on my skin care and will rock it , thanks to you!
Sadly, the “Truly Yours” foundation has been discontinued. I reached out to Joah when I noticed nearly all of their colors were sold out, and they told me it had been discontinued. They have replaced it with their new “Perfect Complexion BB Cream.” I will be ordering it soon to try it. Nikol, I am a new subscriber, and I absolutely love your videos. I’ve learned so much, and look forward to each and every video. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge! 😃
I’m disappointed that the “Truly Yours” foundation is discontinued. I still have my original bottle-it has lasted a long time. Hope the BB cream meets our expectations. 🤞
I totally agree about the Estee Lauder Double Wear packaging. They really need to listen to the consumers and improve it. No reason why a big company can't do that. Thank you so much for including some less expensive products!💖
I have bought it in the past in a tube, so much easier but the most recent one was this jar. Its almost like going back to the 80's. Not sure why they didn't stick with the tube.
They sell a pump at the Mac counter that fits the Doublewear which I love when I need long wear but I like the Joah even better for a luminous look. I bought it after your video showing it.Its fabulous
LOVED that I found Joah at CVS!! I had Fountain of Truth, which I'd had SUCH hope for, since it is clean, but looked bad on my fine lines. Saw this video and per chance, walked by the CVS aisle and saw Joah line which is CRUELTY-FREE according to labels. I chose natural ivory and it matches ok. I could go a shade darker, but I bronzed it up to avoid choosing too orange-y. GREAT PICK!!
I have combination skin but lately it has become dry/dehydrated (I honestly cannot decipher between the two). I usually wear Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, but lately it has seemed too drying. So after watching this video, I purchased the Cover Girl Simply Ageless and the Joah foundation drops from Ulta. I've been using a hydrating primer which has helped over the past few weeks, so I used it today (it's called Jecca Blac Hydrating Primer-not expensive). After applying the Cover girl to the left side of my face and the Joah to the right, I can tell you I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the Cover girl looks! I honestly could not believe how light and pore blurring this was! I haven't done a test to see how long it lasts, but so far so good. It is a light to medium coverage, but it may be more buildable. The Joah foundation drops were a big miss. Not only did it not help at blurring pores, but it actually accentuated my pores by pilling up and making my skin look eve dryer. For the record, I'm 57 and have combination skin but really oily in the T-zone. Estee Lauder Double Wear light is the only thing that has really worked so far that is long lasting, pore blurring and hydrating enough. It's just not hydrating enough at the moment with my flaking skin. Hope this helps!
Thanks for your input. I've been watching Nikol for about 6-7 months now. I have purchased the eye primer, which really is a great start to putting on my eyes shadows.. I realize this feed is about the foundations and am having trouble deciding what to buy? I went natural as my gray locks were coming in, and with having to wear masks everywhere, really justice started concentrating on doing my eyes. Now that life is slowly returning a bit to a more normal place, I am in the market for a medium coverage light weight foundation. I definitely have combination skin and would say that I am really still more on the oily side as the hours tic away. I keep a pack of rice blotting paper in my purse because my face seems to start looking shiny by noon. I lived on Miami Beach for over 20 years, and while we migrated to the Midwest, so did the humidity! So long story short, I have a hard time putting all these different products on in the morning plus foundation without feeling like I just want to wash it off by 1:00 pm. Which foundation is reasonable priced, do you ladies recommend taking into consideration my skill type? I do clean my face nightly and moisturize. My mom had the pretties skin into her 80s, the one and only moisturizer she used my whole life was Oil of Olay day & night cream. I'm just wondering what else you have found that works well without leaving that shiny, not a dewy look?
I love the pour bottles. I hate the pumps and daubers and whatever else. With a pour, you put your finger over the end, tip and then you have the right amount on the tip of your finger. But the best part is that you can get every drop out of the bottle, with a damp q-tip when it gets down to the bottom, unlike the pumps and other things that make it more challenging.
Thank you Nicol, I’m a new subscriber also and I really appreciate this video. I’ve been looking for a good explanation for a less expensive foundation without purchasing a half dozen first. Your work has helped tremendously. ❤️
I bought the Joah foundation upon your recommendation as a dupe for the La Mer foundation and I cannot thank you enough! It is great plus so inexpensive that yes I ordered another and the shipping was more than the foundation but in total I received an amazing deal. Excellent recommendations!
My mum used this foundation on her fair complexion & always looked gorgeous. Tho I take after my father with olive skin I’ve not tried EL but an rather tempted.
I'm 37 only some white hairs but I enjoy watching your videos because I want to be ready for when I get where you are. You are beautiful and your videos are amazing!
@@burgermister7580 😊 thankyou I appreciate that. But I raised 6 kids and deal with chronic health issues so my body aged quicker than what I should be. Im what you would call advanced 😏. I deal have dealt with premature wrinkles due to a the heavy stress environment I was in in my past. Plus I would rather watch someone genuine and classy rather than these younger kids that like to edit their photos and be fake.
glad to see my CoverGirl/Olay on your list... i have been using it for a while and i like it a lot. I'm 67. i really appreciate you talking about drug store products. I can't afford to spend a ton of money on stuff... but you have used my foundation and the eye shadows I LOVE and I appreciate that on a smaller scale, what i have found to be nice, you like, too :)
They sell the pumps for the Double wear and if you use other products, I have successfully repurposed the pumps that comes with other products like idealist or the Enlighten serums that have the golden pumps. They work just fine.
Thank you so much. I will be 74 yrs old soon and will wear foundation all the way to the funeral home….hope they use one of these products. I am going to try them all.
After trying most foundations for my 71 year old skin , I tried L’Oréal dream radiant liquid foundation doing lockdown it is amazing , the shade Ivory is perfect for my light neutral olive skin.
Love your style and videos Nikol!!! Thank you for showing the world that it is okay for women to age naturally. Can you speak about a true peach undertone and products that make our complexions pop!? I have warm brown biracial skin with a peach undertone that causes pink or yellow undertone makeup turn ashen on me. My hair is natural silver/ salt-pepper blend, as well, and I have brown eyes. I hate the way makeup looks on me now.
Yes I have linked where you can buy it under the video or you can go to CVS but jot all cBs carry it. Best bet is to go directly to Joah’s website and purchase it there for $4.75.
@@NikolJohnson great to know I am looking for a new foundation something light here in NYC like everywhere else wearing mask . Will have to check it out thanks so much 1
I am just catching up on your videos, but I want to try the Chanel , although I haven't looked up to see if the still have it. I am not a "girlie-girl" but I love playing in front of the mirror with different looks. I would not walk into a Chanel , because I would look out of place. I was a farm girl and I am not a prissy woman. But, that aside, I adore ordering from Chanel. It comes in a lovely box. The packaging is like a gift to myself, wrapped with a ribbon. (Hmmmm....it is a gift to myself) everything so elegant. I ordered their soap once...came this way. And you get some samples in with it. How fun. That is how I love for my foundation to feel-to just flow over my face. I agree, price is one important thing, but if it is something you appreciate and need, it is worth it. I know some who shop, just to have. Wonderful, but silly. It isn't quanity that makes you pretty.
Just discovered you and LOVE everything you stand for in choosing beauty products. My issue is I am 73 years old and highly allergic to most products I ve tried. My skin is lifeless and dull. I have fair skin , was a red head and freckles until my red changed to whitish blonde as I aged. What would u recommend keeping in mind I am on a fixed income . I appreciate any suggestions. I live in canada .thanku
I didn't like the way this Covergirl Foundation looked on my skin, plus it didn't provide much coverage. I do like the other Covergirl Simply Ageless Wrinkle Defying Cream Foundation in the round glass jar. It comes with a round sponge applicator but I use a brush and it provides beautiful coverage.
Been using JOAH ever since you featured it. My only complain is you can’t find it in the store so have to order on line. I ordered 3 colors and depending on the season in Michigan I can use straight or blend. I got a mascara sample on my last order which I loved but haven’t picked it up yet in a full size.
Thank you thank you I just never know what to buy anymore… The color is either don’t match… Or doesn’t feel good on my skin thank you… Thank you… For doing this review and giving me some good choices
Oh no! This used to be the fundation of my late mother in during the decade of the 70s, so yesterday! I would never use it, too fake, awful colours, old fashioned texture and looks cheap.
I keep and cleanse my stirrers from Starbucks. A little dip into an open bottle gives just enough without have to touch the bottle with fingers. I also use the stirrers with your eye + lip primer and all creams.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I have been waiting for this video. I am a mature woman with dry skin.(When did that happen?) I dislike heavy foundation, I just want to look evened out. I do use Joah lipstick. I may give the foundation a try.
Today is the first time I have caught one of your "Fierce Aging" videos and I stayed for several!! Not one, bur several great ideas for optimizng these years and achieving a natural attrative look that chamrs and improves life quality. Thank you so much! I will return! Do you hve an email list?
Thankyou for doing this one but my Chanel that i love is Chanel Vitalumiere why doesnt anyone talk about that Lisa Eldridge gave it credit It is my absolute favorite But i will try the Aqua but the other has always been my favorite of any foundation ever since I came across it Nothing compares and Ill have to try Nikol bb but Im sold on my Chanel Vitalumiere It is so beautiful to me
Please Look into avoiding titanium dioxide. There are companies that make excellent tinted BB creams & foundations without titanium dioxide. They work well on sensitive skin.
Agree that ELDW needs a pump! This has been a constant complaint from customers for years. Unfortunately, one needs to spend another $10 on Amazon to get a pump that works with bottle.
Belated comment on your eyebrows videos; Eleanor Bron was the beautiful woman in Help! the Beatles movie whose beauty and and intelligence and all the rest made her an abiding icon .... eyebrows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus grey to white hair over time. She was indeed before her time. I also celebrate 2 other actresses mother and daughter who went grey/to white ... Emma Thompson and her mother an extraordinary person and I am ashamed to say I have to look it up!
Please don’t listen to the haters you are wonderful me and my sisters and my friends all love you don’t focus on the negative know that we love you and we appreciate you❤❤❤❤
Nikol, your No 2 Chanel foundation is my No 1 and go to foundation I love it concur with your assessment of it, it's also very buildable if you're after a heavier coverage. My other go to is the Laura Mercier Lumiere foundation which I wear during the cooler months here in Australia. My absolutely favourite transluscent powders are both the Hourglass and Laura Mercier !
Love your videos!!! Why when I click on Joah Foundation Drop is there not the foundation. Lots of other products, bur can't that foundation! Looked Walmart; Walgreens; eBay; Amazon; other sites ~ I's like warm nude if you have it please. Thanks Much!
I've just recently decided to go cruelty-free. I would LOVE a video showing the best brands. (I define cruelty-free as the brand or its parent company - were your money is going at the end of the day - being cruelty-free. So Covergirl, who claims its CF, would not meet that standard as its owned by L'Oreal who promotes cruelty). My old favorites were Mac for lipsticks, Lancome and Too-faced for base. I know Stila is CF but I haven't really tried that brand. Maybe you have knowledge in this area? I would be so appreciative!! I love all your videos- I've learned so many techniques! Thanks for providing affordable options too.
@@biggyziggy5777 I used to buy this when I had money and it's the best. Color matching is hard for my skin tone. Times changing and I won't splurge on makeup anymore.
I am turning in a few months and I just cut out the last of my colored hair. I’m changing my make up and everything. I like the Mac face and Body personally. I wear little foundation because it just shows wrinkles that are contemplating the move to my face.
Kendra , I have been allowing my grey “ Sparkle”To come in for two years. I also don’t wear any foundation. I think the less we wear the better our skin looks. Loved this. 🙌🏻🍑Lisa
@@PeachesSkinCare I feel like the better I hydrate the better my skin looks. I do wear blush and a little contour but mostly just eyes and lips. Sixty is looming and I personally think I look better than ever....and my opinion of me is what matters. Thanks for sharing.
My beautician is also a makeup artist. When I let my hair go from blonde to Gray, I booked a session with her specifically to go through all of my makeup and to make recommendations for colors and products. She taught me how to do double duty for example with using mascara for both lashes and eyebrows and lipstick for lips and cheeks. I use the CoverGirl foundation that Nicole just spoke about, and Estee Lauder lipstick, Estee Lauder shadow palette and Estee Lauder mascara. Nikol's brushes are the secret to blending. I was amazed at how having the right colors for my new gray hair and change in skin tone actually made me look younger! Of course a great haircut also helps. My point is that you might want to spend the $50 to do a makeup consult and get the right colors and techniques for your new look.
