Shouts to the www.theshorechurch.com/ for the inspiration on this one!
Taking the step to attend a church for the first step is a huge step. Asking for their contact information is another big ask. A great thank you gift helps.

WHAT’S IN THIS SESSION?
- Why a free gift? (1:12)
- It invites your potential new visitor into the act of giving and allows them to make a choice of which charity they want to support (3:16)
- It demonstrates that you are a generous church that is outwardly focused on the world and community - not inwardly focused on your own self-interests (3:45)
- As you’ll see in the email copy below, by inviting your new visitor into the act of giving, they are required to reply to your welcome email with their charity of choice. By doing this, you’ll be marked as a safe sender in this individual’s email inbox AND this will help contribute to a better overall email deliverability profile for your church (4:13)
- One-on-one interaction with a pastor through email (6:10)

Dude! What a cool idea. Don't think it would work for us at this time. But I'm keeping this in my back pocket! I love when Brady says cool stuff.

This is one of the most exciting things I have heard regarding First Time Guest engagement/follow-up in a while! THANK YOU FOR SHARING. I am going to take to my team for discussion and push to try it out. -Blake Sabiston, Pastor of Connections and Guest Services at Crossings.Church

So we tried this, and it worked beautifully! We offered them an opportunity to partner with us and donate a charity of their choice. We had great engagement, and it was such a great impression and hit! Thanks!

A visitor may wish to come only once, especially if it's in an area where he doesn't live.

I honestly believe social media is the meeting place of the up and coming church vs the buildings we have used for hundreds of years. The buildings I don't believe will be completely done away with but they will become less needed.

What if the Non-Profit in question conflicts with the values of the church or even biblical values? If a guest wants you to give $5 to Planned Parenthood, do you give it?
@prochurchtools
@prochurchtools 6 лет назад
I think we tackled this in the video, Paul. To avoid this, I would choose a list of five pre-approved charities that your church believes in. That way the visitor gets to choose, but you know the choice will still align with your values.

Hi Brady! Is it great also to put the name of the first timer on a design card because name is one of the most important thing I visitor could hear.
@prochurchtools
@prochurchtools 4 года назад
Name is definitely one of the questions we would choose to include. You can see some of our favourite Connect Card examples here: prochurchtools.com/perfect-church-connection-card-examples/

I don't know if I missed it or not, but what program/tools do you use for a digital connect card? We would love to move away from paper and just curious what is out there. Thanks!
@prochurchtools
@prochurchtools 6 лет назад
Andrew, we built Nucleus to do this exact thing! Here's the link: nucleus.church/

Wouldn't it be more real for members to greet the person and ask for their contact information directly so that they could invite them to Bible study and let them know of other activities that they might be interested in
@prochurchtools
@prochurchtools 6 лет назад
Joey Hall Do both! Have both available. Many people will prefer email communication though over face-to-face and more responses are better! You can always tell them about Bible study and other activities through email.

Hey guys. I like the idea kind of but I dont see how it's any less coercive to have someone decide which charity gets the support. Aren't you still ransoming financial support for the new person details?
@esthomp
@esthomp 6 лет назад
Brady Shearer...So in doing this do you focus on just getting the guest to fill out the cards and bring them? We currently have everyone to fill them out and turn them in with the offering. Thanks.
@prochurchtools
@prochurchtools 6 лет назад
The great thing about this strategy is that it works with every type of return. I prefer promoting digital connect cards most because they allow for instant follow-up and an email thread with the pastor (as discussed in the video), but if someone physically returns a card to the lobby you can walk through the donation manually with them. In the instance you referenced, if someone puts the card into the offering (also a common practice amongst churches), I would have a volunteer/staff member add that individual's email ASAP to the email list that triggers the follow-up email.
@esthomp
@esthomp 6 лет назад
Great! But for the physical card should I change my strategy and just focus on guest filling them out instead of everyone? What would you recommend? Thanks
@prochurchtools
@prochurchtools 6 лет назад
Eric Thompson Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of having regulars fill out cards weekly.

We have a food pantry and a "transient ministry" in our church, would it be ok to have these ministries on the list, or should they be a nationally known ministry?
@prochurchtools
@prochurchtools 6 лет назад
Christopher Everson I think making the donation to your own church’s ministries might undermine the outward-focused element on this strategy - but totally your call.
