What about Brookings, Oregon?

Unfortunately Brookings hasn’t requested to be rated by HRC for their Municipal Equality Index, which is on e of the foundational pieces we use to determine if a city is LGBTQ+ welcoming in both policies and protections for queer folks. And since we’re a 2 person shop we cannot research all 45,000+ towns in the US. What are your thoughts on Brookings?

East Oregon city Gresham, This is where the gay wedding cake was refused by owner, due to Christian values. I want to express embarrassment to my community being raised Christian! My mother taught me that my cousin is gay and it’s very important to treat and love him like any other member of the family. Little did she know, I approved heavily. That was wrong of that owner to refuse to make a gay wedding cake.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We know the Alliance Defending Freedom is using money they collect to start up these cases where they try to get laws and cases allowing discrimination. Thus the reason we need to financial empower the LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈 community. We need to have our own offensive when it comes to fighting discrimination

Wellllll i have to disagree just a bit….im from Eugene and it is not LGBTQ friendly. That’s why i moved away. They advertise gay friendly but it only really exists in one small neighborhood in the University area. Try living in the suburbs and you won’t find that. And many businesses who claim to be inclusive are actually cold and standoffish if they think you are gay.

Sorry to hear that this was your experience. With over 500 cities ranked by HRC we don’t have the ability to have “boots on the ground” experience with all of them and have to rely on what we read/see. Thanks for sharing your side.
