I totaly agree. I have them since January, use them 2-3 times a week (3-4 hours a week) and still holding up better than every other glove I owned. Best heavy mitten on the market on many points: price, durability, Mobility, protection, comfort

I so much agree with your experience about these! I have been using mine now for 3 weeks too since I got them with longsword and only have positive experiences with them. They are a bit tight to squeeze on especially when they get "moist" but could be fixed with a tiny strap or something fixed to the back of the wrist collar.

I think that gloves depends on confort more than anything else (when protection wanted is reached), all my club uses clam style gloves and I use five fingers, I got used to them because of the type of techniques and martial arts I did, so I feel sloppy with other gloves, It gives me enough protection and lets me do what I expect from them, not gonna enforce them because overall I know they are the "worst" glove, but it's better for my style and confort. Also they make castañuela noises so I walk like zoidberg which leads to a psychological advantage
@petritzky
@petritzky 7 месяцев назад
What gloves do you use specifically?
@Izhkoort
@Izhkoort 7 месяцев назад
@@petritzky Hourglass Infinity Gloves, researched for a few and seemed the best five finger gloves for the price (progauntlets are cool and supposedly better, but prohibitely expensive), I really abuse them since I try to do hard sparring and I use REALLY light protection (just a spes doublet, gloves and mask), which forces me to avoid/block more (I'm used to this since I did Eskrima before), will use more protection because tournament rules though. I popped a few screws, but was a matter of find them and screw them again, really friendly design

Hello sir , i have a question. I see that you own the sparring gloves infinity gloves and the mittens. Would yo say that the mobility in the HFs is better than with the infinities? I have the infinities and while mobility is great, the amounts of duck tape that i putting in them to keep the fingers in place is annoying. In terms of mobility and protection, HFs or SG mittens? Great content btw
@petritzky
@petritzky 11 месяцев назад
In terms of mobility the SG mittens and HF armourys are basically the same. One could argue that the thumb on the SGs is a tiny bit more mobil, but I don't feel like I'm impacted. I like to have more grip in my HFs. SGs have a little less grip. Protection is better in the HFs no question. I don't use the infinities anymore. I never felt 100% safe in them. Now I put on my HFs and don't spend any thought on protection. I just know they do the job. Have for over a year now and they still hold up very well.

@superiorhema 2 года назад
Great vid! I'd heard good things about that glove. I'm super picky about my thumb movement, does it match the sparring glove thumb in side movement, or close?
@petritzky
@petritzky 2 года назад
So far it is not as manoverable as the SGs. Out of the box the thumb was the only thing that was a little stiff. Within the first session it was not noticeable to me any more. When purposefully check for thumb I would say the SGs are better for that though it's already good enough for me in the Black Knights. I imagine it's gonna improve after more brake in. I honestly didn't think about thumb dexterity as I just didn't think of it. I guess you could say it's neither outstanding nor bad so far.
@willalias8640

I can't tell you exactly, but they still don't seem lower profile and from what I heard from Paul of the channel Schwertschwinger. The new thumb design isn't as successfull as we hoped. But then again, I encourage to search for reviews yourself. This is only hearsay I have.

@@rv.b2903 I have the new Spes with full thumb, very disappointed with them because of bad durability so not using them anymore because the HF are better in practically every aspect and are now my go-to longsword gloves. Wish I hadn't bought the Spes, they're already too broken for reselling after a very short time of use. The only negative about the HF is that thumb mobility is lower especially lateral movement of the thumb and especially when the gloves are new.

What are your experiences with the size? I have really small hands. For normal gloves I wear size S. But for the SPES heavies I ordered XS and they are still too big. So big in fact that I can comfortably wear another light glove under them. What about Krumhau directly to the hands? Are feeling an impact with that? We started exercising the krump with all Stücken and it kind of hurts getting hit with a lot of force even with SPED heavies...
@petritzky
@petritzky Год назад
For Size I have ordered one size smaller than measured as I knew from a pair I tried out that it would fit me. But I realised that a size up would have still fit perfectly fine and I would have had a tiny little bit more dexterity I guess, but I don't really see any other issues. I have very large hands though. They are hands down the most protective glove I have ever worn. I feel extremely safe in them, even at high intensity and haven't had any bruises so far. One hit from the top on my first knuckle is the only thing I can remember. I felt it, but there was no injury whatsoever. They are in use for over half a year now. The best thing is that I don't worry about anything anymore. With Infinities I always worried the tape could come off and my fingers get exposed and with Spes I worried about my thumb. It's so good to just put them on without having to worry about a thing.

You have not compared them to the sparring glove's mittens (which I use). HF are certainly much more protective, but sparring gloves should be much lighter, they are super compact, have a very good mobility and decent thumb protection. Still you prefer HF gloves? Why?
@petritzky
@petritzky Год назад
Yes the sparring gloves are lighter, but I still prefer the HFs. Mostly because I feel like I have more grip on the sword, which is the inherent problem I have with the SGs. I personally don't like the way they hold me in. It seems some people don't mind at all and others do. I'm in the latter category. I never feel like I have an amazing grip. There is a reason the vast majority of feders flying through the air on tournaments are from people with SGs, lol. The grip just isn't as secure. It gets better the longer you wear them though. As for the hour glass version, I hated the new SG hourglass design. Extremely uncomfortable and pocked into my wrist when rotating. This might be a sizing issue I had though. The HFs thumb is better protected. I often recevied uncomfortable hits to my thumb in the SGs. I can think of one instance in my HFs. The biggest problem I now have with the HFs is that there seems to be dye in there that sticks to the hand and I have yet to find out how to get it to dry out. Cause when my hands start sweating a lot the dye comes out. And I don't like undergloves.

Just curious, is weapon martial art that includes sparring safer than wrestling? Like, the risk of getting bone fracture? Cuz you guys are using steel sword and it looks more terrifying than a Shinai or sponge bat...
@petritzky
@petritzky Год назад
I honestly see the risk of bone fractures as quite small, now that we have gloves that protect our hands so well. I usually don't waste a thought on that, given the equipment my sparring partners and I use have proven themselves. What is more a risk is spraining your ankle, or tearing your crutiate ligament like in a lot of other sports.

@petritzky
@petritzky 8 месяцев назад
@@EconaelGaming I still prefer the HF armourys over all the gloves in this video. I haven't had the Kvetuns so far. I heard the michaels(mitten gloves bought at socal swords) are good gloves too. But haven't had my hands on them. I still like the HFs more than all my other gloves. After a year though I had to make some modifications. They top Spes heavies by a landslide. If you have very broad hands, SG mittens might be better for you. My clubmate gets regular bruising on his index due to the narrow profile, the shell slightly slipping on impact of the glove and missing some padding. As the gloves wear out this starts to get a problem. Which is why I modded them so this doesn't happen anymore. And my hands aren't that broad, so it is not that big a deal for me. I get our beginners to try out our gloves and then decide. These are still an excellent choice. You might have to modify them to your needs at some point. Sadly I can't give you a handsdown recommendation without knowing your hands.

I wear an undercut below all the curls. Is this period accurate, too? Honestly, I have no clue and never lost a thought about puncture resistant glove lining. There are people using SGs without any underglove, but yeah, I have seen points piercing bare hands, so I get it. It is heavy leather, so I don't see a sword penetrating, but I can't put my hands in the fire for it.
