I reviewed the Garmin Venu 3 if that helps? The Garmin Venu 3 is BETTER and CHEAPER than the Garmin Approach S70 - Here’s Why ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HTHmuNy_B94.html
I bought the V5 and was impressed with it. Solid and reliable yardage and good post round club data. Would like the step data to flow into apple health so that i dont have to manually add golf steps - it would then become my everydayvwatch.
I was so looking forward to the X5 and I was so disappointed with it once it arrived. I got it on pre-sale and it came with a nice discount but that wasn't worth it as it never really worked for me on the course. Between the battery and screen problems I ended up having to get a replacement sent out by Shotscope. I still have the X5 at home but I rarely use now. I loved all the data that it gave me and insights into my game but the X5 was just a nightmare to deal with on the course and even after all the firmware update and the replacement I received, I had little to no confidence in it.
You weren’t the only one, I was massively disappointed with the X5 too, surprised others didn’t highlight the shortcomings more like I did 🤷 I’ve used this nee V5 for 18 holes so far…I have a few thoughts which people might want to consider, but no far, so good with the changes made 👍 of course, full review to come soon though once I’ve tested it a bit more
It looks very annoying that the screen goes off literally in a couple of seconds. I guess you can not adjust it, and that is also how they save the battery life?
No you can’t adjust it, so I agree with you, I think it’s been done to get as much life out the battery as possible. But to confirm, when using the watch in golf mode, the screen does stay on. I’ve used it a few times now, and confirm that the battery lasts comfortably for the full 18 holes, but wouldn’t last long enough to get 2 rounds…at least 2 rounds that last 4 hours with a couple of hours use as a normal watch before and after
The X5 has been a huge disappointment. I’m on my third X5 due to problems with the previous two from no power, not charging and blank screen to switching itself off from game mode. The current one is now also switching itself off from play mode after a couple of holes. Wish I’d kept my V3 instead of upgrading under the offer. The V5 release just feels like a kick in the teeth.
@@GolfGuyReviews no. I had two V3s, mine and one for my junior daughter. We both got the upgrade deal so I sold both the Vs. My daughters (grey strap) has been fine. Mine (midnight blue straps) have been pains in the 4rse. The early upgrade discount is a big carrot, but I wish I’d held on for later when the reviews came out highlighting the problems. To me, Shotscope should recall the X5 and give a massive discount to owners for the V5 at half the current early price.
Why oh why don't they just bring out this watch with all day battery life and with all the smart watch features available on Apple Watches etc? That's what I want from a golf watch! 😂😂😂
I think you should check out the Arccos tags that are compatible with the Apple watch...but that is a subscription service after the first year. I've not tried that system though, so I can't speak for how much it drains the battery, or what it's like to use
@@GolfGuyReviews I know about them but thanks for thinking to tell me 👍🏼 The subs are their downfall tbh. This V5 watch has the potential to be so much better. I'm not one for tracking my rounds coz I can remember them quite well but I get why people do so. There's so much useful information.
Be interested in your opinion of how well the v2 tags perform. I sent the V3 watch back for a refund because of the number of missed shots. The club was detected but the tracking of the shots were very hit and miss.
Tracking of the shots was very hit and miss - hopefully pun intended :) I used the V5 for 18 holes at the weekend in it's first test. The only shots it missed, were when I took multiple swings after duffing a few. Generally I try to remember to wave the tag past the watch when I grab the club from my bag, but on the few occasions I forgot, it had still picked up the club tag...so hopefully the 2nd generation of the tags is performing better... If I can find them I'll try to do a side by side comparison of the 1st gen tags with he V3 compared to the 2nd gen tags with the V5
So you prefer to NOT have a touch screen.....You PREFER to have a plastic bezel, not ceramic? Staring to think you just PREFER getting new products to test, and will say anything to keep getting them
Thanks for watching Steven. If you’ve seen my review of the X5 with the ceramic bezel and touch screen you’ll know I was critical of that watch, being one of the only reviewers to call out my several disappointments with it. I take it you didn’t get to the end of the video where I also said I’d prefer to spend the extra money and use a Garmin S70 or Venu 3 due to its smart watch features.
I have to agree with that, Im a v3 user and carry laser for uphill-downhill targets and to intermediate targets, I've had offers for both new watches sent to me from shotscope, but I haven't changed, I don't see the point, why change something that's not broken
I see that Shotscope recognises that X5 owners who traded up from their V3 aren’t impressed and the X5 will receive a firmware upgrade soon to give it colour and full green views. 👍🏻
what put me off of the X5 was the reports of its inability to work in the rain. Hopefully resolved with the V5. Would have have liked USBc to USBc charging as well. Looks a good upgrade from the V3
Yeah the screen on the X5 was disappointing. USB c would have been nice but I guess a lot still use usb a adapters. I agree, visually, a nice upgrade to the V3 👍👍
