Man I'm from Italy and they don't sell that seasoning here so I make my own. Still delicious but now I'm dead curious. What I use: - Salt - pinch of sugar (to reduce the acidic of the tomato sauce) - bit of wite wine - a spoon of barbeque sauce (to give some smoked flavour) - my own fresh scorpion chili peppers - teaspoon of msg (monosodic glutammate) - pepper
I recently became a widower. As I was cleaning out everything, I got hungry and found 12 Old El Paso Taco shells, enough of frozen ground lamb, a just ready heirloom tomato, sharp cheddar, a jar of Italian roasted red peppers, romaine lettuce and a Mexican spice mix. Lonely isn't the word for it. Followed your recipe and gorged on a simply made meal for pennies. I miss my friend. Much love brother. 🐠
I just made the tacos last night. Followed your steps to the t. THEY WERE SO GOOD. My wife, daughter and myself loved them. This will be our go to taco tuesday recipe. Thank you!
I learned to put the lettuce, tomatoes, salsa and cheese first then top it off with the meat. This keep everything together and prevent everything from falling out while eating.
@@edgepool4319You're kidding right? Mexican tacos like Al Pastor is more similar to arabic shawarma. These white boy american tacos are very different. Don't get me wrong, I love tex-mex! I'm just saying it's a very different experience.
A food processor makes short work of chopping up your toppings. We use this tool for all fine chopping and of course with the correct blade. Thank you for the good instructions for the beginner cooks out there. At 80 I have cooked just about everything including ostrich and alligators, rattlesnake and water buffalo. Everything old is new to millennials.
BRO,Today I decided to make the lunch and I followed your recipe and it was SOOO good thank you so much for this! And I made my parents proud for not burning the food :,D
I gotta tell ya bro, About 6 months ago I saved this video to try later. It took awhile, but last week we ordered the Trader Joe taco seasoning. It came. And tonight we followed your lead. Well. Done. Sir. Holy shit I’m mad we waited so long. ✌🏼
@Neil McCormick, You actually saw the cat meandering all over the work surface? I saw the cat in the background, by the sink, where the dirty dishes go, in most kitchens.
I’m a huge fan of tacos, authentic Mexican restaurant style, street tacos, and basically any fast-food crunchy tacos. I use McCormick taco seasoning at home with crunchy shells. Every taco is delicious.
This was the first video I watched of you and had to subscribe because your video was easy to follow, professional and you got right into the content. You're gonna have over 100K subs soon, keep up the great work!
Soon as Trader Joe's taco seasoning found the pan I could smell the birth of that taco!!! Oh man, I could really smell his taco creation, forcing me to my kitchen.....
Had these tonight, followed your instructions. Got to say, they were very good. This will be made often. I only used 1/2 packet maybe little over. They are on the spicy side, but tastefully so. Thanks for sharing
Love it. Can't wait to try this! Here's a tip that may or not be useful: if you start your build with the cheese first, followed by the meat, the cheese will be nice and melty if that's your thing.
im trying to learn to cook for the first time in my life at 23 (ive been pampered i know) this video really was easy to follow compared to a lot of other ones
Excellent video. Not real tacos?? Omg! It was a hit at my friend's table. I cooked they ate and ate Thank you Oh! A huge shout out to your beautiful Cat!! 👍👍👍👍😁😁🌮🌮🍺
I made these once following your recipe and it was SOOO good, we love the trader joes thick cut shredded cheese to top it off. Im going to make it again right now!
I've wanted to make Tacos forever, just never got around to it.. Now that I have seen your easy to do video recipe, I will be making them this evening.. Thank You Very Much.😍
You must be new to working in a kitchen. I was making sweet cheese biscuits with frosting by the time I was 10 years old. I had a great mom cook way back in the 1950s. A great kitchen teacher. Also being in Boy Scouts Canada helped tremendously as well. Campfire cooking was great.
@@theintruder77 Same i learned to cook & bake from scratch at age 9. By age 13 my mom pretty much always made me make the menus & do the cooking for our family.
It looks good! Thanks! I trained my cat to not come into the kitchen by getting a spray bottle filled with water. It only takes a few sprays to let them know that the kitchen is off limits and a little water doesn’t hurt them.
I am hispanic and i love home made tacos so that is why i made tacos here at home just 2 nights ago for dinner and i used graded cheese. I did everything about the same thing as you but i didnt use no diced tomatoes, and i didnt start with onions either but of course my tacos did come out great. My ingredients were ground meat, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, graded cheese and you fry the corn tortillas. Im not sure about your tacos im sure they tasted good i guess but all my company loved my tacos. Im not a professional cook but i am hispanic and i do know how to make home made tacos for sure.
Hey Philip, i just started a trader joes channel come and say hi. I love the taco seasoning its just too spicy for my kids so i put a little bit when i make chili.
Tip for opening a tight or troublesome jar... Submerge in warm/hot water, lid-side down for a minute or so... But for a quick an instant result, but be careful not to smash or break the jar. On a flat surface, chopping board, counter top or the like... Bang the jar, down on its lid, trying to do so as flat on the lid as possible and not at an angle, else you'll possibly break the jar. One strike should do it, but two strikes, flat on the lid for good measure, & its guaranteed to open with ease, works everytime 😉
i'd cook it on a frying pan, and really maillard the meat for extra flavour. You could also whip up a guac with a little garlic and creme fraishe while the mince is simmering. Some of the trick in those spice bags is monosodiumglutamate MSG, which you can also buy as a powder.
@@kavalogue who said 40 minutes? U put it on highg heat, spread the mince, hack it a bit with ur spoon or spatula, then let it sit a few mins untill it gets browned, flip it and let it sit again for a couple minutes untill browned. If you have a lot of meat, don't crowd the pan. let it sit on a plate untill you are ready to proceed to add flavour and sauce. Otherwise you are just boiling your mince and it will just become gray and chewy.
@@emilguldmann6816 When you cook the beef, it releases its water. So when you move the beef around before the water evaporates, it reabsorbs that water. That's why you need to let the beef sit and brown before crushing and stirring.
looks good, but i think the diced tomatoes changes the profile/taste of the beef. its almost a sloppy joe taco at that point. onions&beef only though are perfect. I am going to safeway tomorrow for the salsa.
Started out with packets, then started making my own seasonings, got it down pretty good now, haven't tried TJ's seasonings but I'll have to give it a try sometime. I add olives and mushrooms to my taco and meat mix. Cilantro is also on my list of ingredients.
3:39 the onion is already in layers so doing on set of cuts like that is enough, don't need to do itt horizontally AND vertically, it'll just make the dice uneven
Hahaha! Those aren't real tacos bro! Haha, and that's perfect, I am a black American media entrepreneur in Asia right now, and OMG craving tacos! And, all they have here is the seasoning sache, box shells and cabbage...so this was right on time. And I will postpone til tomorrow to get cheese and salsa like you got. Thanks bro! New subi here.
Hahah yeah these are FAR from real tacos. As American as tacos get haha. But I grew up eating them and LOVE THEM! Thanks for watching and commenting! Enjoy your tacos out there! Aloha from Hawaii!
So... no one's gonna say anything about the cat on the counter!? I have two so I understand, but please tell me you don't cook anything over there.. lol
I thought I was the only person thinking like you cause my neighbor has cats and when I saw how she let them jump on the tables and counters around the food I never ate anything from only because I be thinking of cat hairs being in it lol
@@survivalmode666_ I guess thats just how things are when you have pets? Have you ever adopted pets before? Cats or a dog, that fur is gonna be EVERYWHERE haha. But I totally get it. Pets arnt for everyone. I grew up having pets my whole life and I guess im just not trippin off it like some people are. We clean all our surfaces before and after cooking. We also take our shoes off before we walk in our house but you'd be surprised how many people will freak about about a cat on the counter but throw their feet up on their couch with their shoes on lol. Or own a dog and walk it around the neighborhood then let it run around the house or jump in bed with them without washing off its feet. You'd also be surprised to find out how clean cats are compared to other animals and even humans. Thats one of the reasons cats dont need to be bathed like other animals. But hey. Some people just dont like cats. I get it.
Just made these today and it was delicious! Use the whole seasoning packet it’s not that spicy and added cilantro to the beef as recommended by a comment in here 👍
The handles on my stove have the bigger part as the pointer. Not the skinny part. I know its seems backwards to me too. Its what I thought when we moved into our apartment and even tried to flip them but they dont stay on when they are flipped around. I thought other people would be confused as well so I made sure to VERBALLY say what I was doing for that reason.
