Is it true that for disorders, assault -> burn/shock is better? Since you get the first big burst if assault and then a 2nd 450% burst, whereas burn -> assault only frontloads the dmg you were going to do anyways?
my biggest issue with this mechanic is taht its so hard to see the anomaly on the enemy because of all the effects, the tracker should be way bigger or appear on the UI on the right
Should mention a few things: 1. Bangboos deal significant Anomaly Build-Up with their chain attacks (especially the element specific ones) but will NEVER trigger Anomaly. This lets you control when an Anomaly is triggered so your pet isn't haphazardly fucking up your rotations. 2. This is tangentially related to 1 but Anomalies only trigger when you deal a "heavy hit" or basically anything that would trigger a Chain Attack. You can easily verify this by using Nicole on an enemy that has 99.9% Ether Build-Up and charging her EX (even extending it with her 360 movement tech). The enemy won't become Corrupted until the actual "heavy hit" part of her EX when she launches the orb. 3. For the most part, it doesn't actually matter when you trigger Disorder on Shock/Burn/Corruption because it deals damage equivalent to the remaining procs on it. So if you trigger Disorder immediately and get full procs, you will deal 1 instance of normal DoT damage and 9/19 instances of Disorder based DoT damage. Comparatively if you wait until the last second to trigger Disorder you'll deal 9/19 instances of DoT damage and Disorder's damage will scale based on the 1 remaining proc. In total though, your DoT "equivalent" damage is 10/20 in both instances (and you still get the extra front loaded damage from Disorder. 4. Because of that, it might actually be better to delay your Disorder procs for a Stun phase if one is coming up soon. Since Stun multiplies all damage including Anomaly, Disorder lets you squeeze in a full DoT duration in the smaller Stun window letting you cash out early when if you let the DoT run it's course you may clip the Stun timer a bit and only get 70-80% of your full DoT procs out.
I love how new Hoyo game spawns many new creators and they all like: so when you press button it does a thingy and then theres guoba who is actually explains and shows stats and calcs like none of those creators talked about elemental dmg bonuss affecting the dmg in the 20 min video
Yeah I had the same experience with Genshin when starting out, and HSR too. So many clout chasers pretending to have useful info and using this to bait you out of your time and energy. Pathetic.
Do you expect any less? They all regurgitate the same info, all of which they’ve gotten from elsewhere yet act like they came up with it in the first place. It’s why most content creators are trash as hardly any of them are genuine
Tbh, most of mhy players don't have any idea what they were doing. Some like us are heavily invested in research the calculation and stuff so I'm forever grateful for cc like guoba.
I initially didn't expect Piper of all people to be an Anomaly DPS with her Herta-esque playstyle, but her being Anomaly opens up so many interesting team comps that don't even need to rely on Crit to be great. Now's just a matter of getting her...
Leak but we are getting a Five stars Anomaly that is basically the Kafka of Anomaly or the Nahida of Dendro reaction so to speak. She will open many interesting team
@@hyne1234 there are guides on how to infinitely using enhanced drill with C1 Anton. He is still better than yanqing lol (at least until that trick stops working)
Yeah, I pulled Grace and the game never really stops and points out that they've got a very atypical status system going. This explains SO DAMNED MUCH.
Thank you so much Guoba. There's a lot of enigmata worship going around now when it comes to ZZZ guides, with outdated CBT info and the like. Your guides are a godsend 🙏
Finally a clear guide about anomaly n disorder, thought ofc it's as expected from guoba! I heard that the new 5* Jane doe is going to be a crazy physical anomaly user and the new 4* defender Seth is going to be the best buffer for anomaly users since he boost AM or AP (I forgot but it seems to be AP) by a whopping 50 points.
Anomaly is honestly the greatest mechanic made in ZZZ (and possibly the best mihoyo have made). They perfected the break dmg mechanic from HSR and gave it a lot of scalings, then also made it synergise well with other anomalies for disorder. It's such an interesting and unique mechanic I love it.
It is a cool concept but can we just talk about the absolute Beyblade of death and destruction Piper is? She is genuinely ridiculous when you're starting out, definitely carried me through some of the harder missions in early game.
@@guobauncertified btw, there will be a second comment from me that basically says the same thing because I thought I'd reloaded the page without sending this comment lol
@@kazmaahr I am specifically talking about how good she is in early game. I can't talk on late game since I'm taking my time with ZZZ and I haven't reached it yet.
My first two five stars were Grace and Her W Engine so I'm trying to assemble a team around it right now. I was losing my mind thinking I couldnt have another Electric unit stealing her Shock Procs but this video is saving my life right now omgggg.
@@andrinaleong4079 Fusion Compiler. Pen Ratio main stat, 12% ATK buff and 25% Anomaly Proficiency over 8s on specials stacking three times (encouraging you to use regular specials like you're supposed to with Grace)
This is the best explanation I’ve watched so far and I feel like I actually have somewhat of an understanding of how this mechanic works now. Thank you!
Thank you so much for explaining it all i was completely confused before when anyone talked about all these terms... All i knew is that ice units freeze the enemy sometimes XD Really great video!
OMG, this is exactly what I was looking for. The most confusing thing was the way anomaly dmg is calculated, I was wandering if ATK, PEN, DMG% etc. was affecting anomaly dmg, now I have the answer, thanks a lot
Couldn't pull Jane, but was able to S rank Critical Node 7 with the advice in this video. Piper/Seth/Lucy. Guoba's video always make me feel smarter lmao.
I've only been playing since Thursday of last week (August 15th), so initially I wasn't paying much attention to the anomaly build-ups and was simply waiting to see "SHOCK" appear on my screen. Now I am paying more attention to it, so when I found this video on one of the Prydwen GG site in the ZZZ category, I made sure to check it out. I wasn't quite understanding how to apply disorder, but now it all makes sense. Pulling Grace immediately, and already having Nicole at M3 has been pretty massive for my team, so now I just need to practice my rotations to maximize this effect. I might have to put some levels into Piper, but my Corin is M3 as well, so I have been putting my resources into her as my main physical unit--although my Grace leads my teams for now. I use Corin mostly for fights where Grace isn't as useful. Thank you so much for this video. I'll definitely be checking out more. I'm still only in the beginning of chapter 2, so a lot of the technical stuff hasn't mattered as much outside of clearing hard mode story missions on S, but I want to be as prepared as possible for the endgame, so I'm learning this stuff now.
Disorder farming with characters (especially Piper) allows them to punch waaaaaay above their level and investment. I liked using Lucy, Piper, and Ben to S rank up through 6 in Shiyu Defense. I call the team Blonde Bear. Or maybe Calydonian Bear. Or maybe Ben Bigger and the Smalls. Eh, it's a work in progress.
The most important things I learned from this are the fact that DoT anomalies of the same type refresh rather than stack on top of each other, and the fact that there is an 3 second mandatory cooldown for these situations. Now I understand why some guides say that ATK can sometimes be preferred to Anomaly Mastery. All this time I've been playing Grace as a mono-electric main dps, and I always thought I was stacking electric anomaly, and that Rina's 3s duration buff was actually useful. And recently I've been playing Piper and thought that the reason the physical anomaly meter would stay at the max for a while was because only certain moves can trigger anomaly (like how only certain moves can defeat enemies), and I thought that the extra buildup was going into an invisible overflow meter which would increase the damage of the next trigger. Long story short I didn't understand how it worked.
Glad someone finally went through this. Don’t have the means to do this myself right now, but it will be fun to lab out how to use this with s tier and a tier units. I see this mechanic keeping a lot of characters relevant to play. Hopefully that stays the same when new units are added.
I may have not a lot of experience with lots of games but I like how Hoyoverse doesn't stop with simple elements damage but they make sure there will be reactions. Like in Genshin and now ZZZ
I just have to say, very well done! I love the delivery of the information, the time stamps, the background fights while explaining something! Guoba you have done very well. Please keep uploading quality stuff like this & i can see you being the future Go To big info channel on Z.Z.Z.! (Fingers crossed) Since the game is so new, even if you get something wrong - its not that much of an issue, just re-upload with the correct info - as the video format your going for can allow that. Or post a pinned comment / something so we know. Btw i love the Shock Disorder, i got lucky & got Rina as my very first S rank, then i went for Elen on her banner & got her and x2 of her weapon to boot, testing the maid squad + anby has been really fun to play, lots of swap ins and swap outs, engaging and i love the play style. (Now if i can only get a good stunner id be mega lucky) 🔥🔥🔥Easy sub + like, thank you for the awesome vid! 🔥🔥🔥
thank you for such a killer informational vid! i was in dire need of something like this to better understand who to pair with piper. now i realize i dont have much LOL, i dont have grace, rina, nor soldier 11 atm so i must wait
Another thing is that if you swap characters during their attack (the character will continue to finish their attack), even if the character clears the enemy's health bar / maxed anomaly bar, it will not trigger death/anomaly. You can use it to easily control the anomaly for triggering disorder.
So I have a couple questions. 1. 12:21 how do you know when Piper is about to proc an anomaly? Where is the bar? Do you just head count? If you're playing safe then, you could swap out two damage instances earlier than the anomaly proc, which means when you swap back to Piper, it's not always "Immediately" right? 2. I have an idea where you stack burn on top of shock, would it mean that shock would tick every burn? Or would burn disorder end the shock anomaly?
Oh this is so interesting! Thank you for clearing things up. I'm starting to think that perhaps building Piper with Fanged Metal instead of Freedom Blues is the better route for now. I'm somewhat stumped on Grace's disks seeing as how you can't really make use of Thunder Metal 4p.
Funny how a character named Guoba is explaining elemental mechanics in HSR terms where they don't really exist. (Break effect is not universal unless a specific character brings a specific mechanic to do so and doesn't interact with the other elements like disorder or reactions) Interesting, so we have ICD like Genshin (3 seconds instead of 2.5) but it's tied to the enemy against a certain element instead of the attack a character does. Being able to stop the proc with swapping is a very interesting mechanic (the bangboos also can't trigger anomalies, so it's intended for us to decide this detonation for disorder I suppose) Anomaly reactions are like transformative reactions (overload, electro-charge or swirl) they scale purely on the character level and anomaly proficiency = elemental mastery, but unlike transformative reactions that ignore defense and your attack stat, you can use normal buffs that are not crit related to improve the damage, it's a mix with quicken that scales with elemental damage but not on crit. They should add a color indication in the distortion to know which it was. I'm already deciding to go for anomaly characters instead of attackers... I'm done with crit fishing in rpg games.
12:51 "oh, there's another one" has no business being both cute and HAUT at the same time. 🎵12:51, and I thought my feelings were gone... 🎵 🎵But I'm lying on my bed, thinking of you again 🎵 great guide on anomaly I'm sure
damn im late about 4 weeks but i want to add that leveling assist skill do really benefits disorder team because quick assist and follow up assist build so much anomaly meter
so if what you're saying is true, would 4p electro even work in a grace disorder team where youre constantly removing the shock with assaults? the atk buff would never be active for dmg calculations no?
I was thinking this too. Welp I guess I'll stop farming for 4pc thunder set and go freedom blues now. I liked farming it tho cause it was efficient for my grace and Lycaon 😢
Thanks for the in depth guide. I've been waiting for something like this, that properly explains the mechanics and damage formula so that I can build my units properly. I've currently got Grace and Piper for my anomaly team, but without Lucy I'm a bit stuck on who to use as the third member of the team. I've tested it out a bit using Anby who's on my Ellen team, but I'm stumped between using Anton who gives Grace her core passive and using Nicole as a support to boost damage. Maybe i should just hope to pull Lucy?
Great video and explanations. Just a pointer tho: there are so many references to hsr and only to hsr. As someone that never played honkai it hindered more than helped, but I’m sure it helped people that played it.
You forgot to mention that corruption actually makes ethereal attack each other. It doesn’t really stun them but makes them attack each other and take extra ether dmg. I’m hoping they don’t scrap the wine element they used in CBT 1. Would be cool to see a new element whenever miyabi releases since she was supposed to be wind but changed to ice, soukaku was wind too, wind and ice existed at the same time at one point, when burn wasn’t a thing yet. So I’m hoping ice doesn’t replace wind but it just means they are still tuning wind to be fitted into the game.
Not me just doing the bare minimum of reading what the character does and how to use and just spamming parry, ehe. But I feel like after playing for a couple days now, I need to know the next level of mechanics
Hey, I think the issue with anomaly mastery is a problem with translation, or rather with placing the name in the correct spot. In Spanish, for example, it is indicated as it should be instinctively, with anomaly mastery affecting anomaly damage, while anomaly proficiency influences the speed of anomaly buildup. I don't know if this matter has already been investigated, but there is no doubt about the symbols: the one that is a sort of cross influences damage, while the other, which looks like three arrows pointing at each other, is the speed of buildup(or, buildup above and damage below). Regards, very good video.
Haven’t been doing much with disorder but have been having fun with assault. Got my piper semibuilt with 315 proficiency, 139 mastery and 1761 attack and ex is able to quickly proc assault dishing 61k+ of damage (just did the twins weekly boss with her and was pulling from 58-61k when she’d Proc assault soon as battle with them started thru her ex move - she absolutely slaughtered the boss before it using her ex once due to the amount of assault damage it dealt)
Ice is so much better than all other elements. This makes ice the preferred element for DPS followed by Physical all other elements pale in comparison.
Heya Guoba, huge thanks for the super detailed and comprehensive video on how Anomalies really work! It's been a huge help. I have 2 related questions; 1) Does the debuff effects from Freeze and Flinch scale off anything (e.g. Anomaly Proficiency) or is it a fixed amount as stated in your video? 2) You mentioned that you both love and hate how the devs implement the Anomaly system. Is the hate partly because of lost damage potential when non-Anomaly characters contribute to the total anomaly buildup (I guess in the case of a mono element team)? As such, would the optimal approach be minimizing AM on non-Anomaly characters while maximizing AM/AP ratio on Anomaly characters so that they contribute more bulk to each anomaly proc? Thanks in advance
what main stat do you want on grace or piper? does the anomaly dmg factor in the character's elemental damage bonus? so do phys or electro cup? or stack atk% there for more base dmg
yea i think this solidifies that soldier 11 disorder with piper isnt all that worth it since burning would grant a crit rate boost but with disorder it would consume the burning state.. oh well! at least i get to use ben 🥰
Not necessarily, it means you could skip Inferno Metal 4pc and bring a different 4pc set instead, but without running numbers it's hard to say how good that would be.
Really want to try out Grace, Burnice and Lucy on a team. Unless I’m missing something, the ability to buff attack with Lucy and then switching between fire and lightning disorder seems like it will be a lot of fun.
Hey Guoba, i loved your explanation, i have a question though, im bad at calculations and numbers, could you tell me which would do higher disorder damage? only taking in account multipliers, so assuming they all have the same base dmg, shock > corruption > assault > shock VS shock > corruption > burn > shock? im curious because i know assault is a good "finisher" aka something i call a nuke dot, but for longer fights, re applying shock over assault would do more damage than re applying shock over burn? would the difference be much?
Thank you so much for explaining how stat buffs work for Anomalies! I do have a related question: how does buffs work for Disorder? Does it use the same snapshotted buff from the anomaly or does it use the stats of the original applier at the time the disorder was applied?
First the Electro ladies in Genshin, then Star Rail with Kafka and Acheron, and now Grace with her rapid Shock Anomaly application in ZZZ, even Yinlin with her electric strings in Wuthering Waves... there's just something about mature ladies with Shock abilities, isn't there?
See if mentioning mature mommies who do shock then you can’t forget Ghost Mommy Rina. She way more mommy material than grace. Grace is more busty sister vibes
Hey @guobauncertified, have you noticed that the tooltip for Disorder, in the section “Training”, includes “accumulating daze” in its text - but it allegedly never happens? Any idea why? Great video!
Question: So, with how disorder applies a full duration’s worth of procs, does that sync with duration extension? For example, if a shock proc benefitting from Rina’s additional 3s extension is immediately turned into a disorder, would the enemy take 13s of shock procs instead of 10s?
12:19 oh that trick is dope. Great video! I just wish they would make this systems more intuitive as dmg + crit - def = bigger numbers than dmg - def. So many hidden coeficients you can't even learn properly in game.
I'll probably never touch a disorder team, since it seems too fiddly and un-fun to manage. BUT I know darn well I want a mono-element team for every type. Since I kinda latched onto Lucy, I'm really eager to get ahold of a fire anomaly character. Hopefully a cool one who comes from her faction just for aesthetic purposes.
Great content! The step-by-step to maximizing damage in a disorder combo still leaves me a bit confused though. So, as an example, in a Piper + Lucy + Soldier 11 (in that team combo order for assist attacks), I'd need to start out with Piper in the field and get her to almost proc assault, but swap before she actually does, then switch to Lucy to get her pigs out for the cheer on buff, then Switch to S11 and keep her on the field until she procs burn and switch back to Piper as soon as the Burn happens so that Piper can proc her Assault + Disorder? I'm assuming I need to start with Piper because she is the one with the big anomaly-related stats (highest proficiency by far, which affects the proc damage). Is that how it's supposed to be played or did I get something wrong somewhere in the process?
You wanna get the buff for when youre applying the anomaly, so get Lucys buff up and then start the combo you listed. Also delaying Burn disorder is fine, as it will still tick down as you are waiting to proc it, youre not losing anything. Only time it would be bad is if you miss the proc during stun and proc it after stun, that would lose some dmg
So if I'm understanding the mechanics correctly, characters of the same element but weaker Anomaly stats "helping" with Anomaly buildup will actually just "dilute" the damage of the Anomaly trigger right? I feel like a lot of people (reasonably) assumed early on that running duo or even mono element with an Anomaly character would be good, but does that mean that you actually generally DON'T want a teammate of the same element as the Anomaly unit, unless its to activate their passives, or some other specific synergy? And if you do have other characters of the same element, I guess its just about finding a balance between getting Anomaly triggers faster while not sacrificing too much damage? And how do Anomaly Bangboos play into this?
great video. However, when I looked into the damage of each attribute myself, I realized that the numbers 500% for ice and 1000% for fire were strange. We confirmed that the stats matched to some extent, but there was no double damage difference between ice and fire. Am I misunderstanding something about this? Regarding electricity, it was 1250%, more than twice that of ice...I couldn't get such a result.
Wait, so building up an anomaly with one element and then switching to a different element before it fully triggers stores the buildup you had on the first element? I thought it reset it whenever you swapped elements. If so that makes things SO much easier. I thought you’d never get anomaly built up unless you had at least two characters with the same element LOL
Does it matter which anomaly is applied first? What's stopping me from just applying assault first, then just applying burn/shock/corrupted afterwards instead of building phys anomaly up then quickswapping out to another element, then quickswapping back to phys?
Having be relegated to running stun teams due to lack of built anomaly characters, this is definitely incentivizing me to build up Grace Now if only the game would give me an icr character that ISN'T Soukaku....
So I can think of anomaly units like, ''kafka dot triggers''. Apply some elemental stat first, switch into your fast applicator and detonate it. switch back and repeat. That means they are meant to be '' combo finalizers'' right? use them on the end of your rotation. follow up question. what happens if you field 2x anomaly specialists + 1 stunner and focus on chain assists, will it keep detonating over and over? quick swap meta!
