Thank you very much for this review! And yes: I bought this guitar and I am very happy with it! Looks like an old favorite leather jacket, sounds and feels like a good friend. I'm very happy with it!
Congrats once again my friend! Really enjoyed the Jazz-Blues in the intro, some tasty playing to go with my coffee this morning. All the best with the Songwriting and your goals - Stay safe bro, talk to you soon.
Love the clean fretboard. It says, "hey, I know where I am." :). Flatwounds Krenar? I have them on my ES-390 but have been tempted lately to put them on my semi-hollow Strandberg for a try.
Keith!! I'm picking up flatwounds for it first thing tomorrow! I just received the George Benson Ibanez jazzbox and it came with flatwounds. I've definitely been missing out on a lot! Let me know how you like them on the Strandberg, sounds like a cool combination! Cheers Keith and thank you!
Love your flow, man. Wonderful playing, great tone. Would be cool to hear a mix of direct and, say, a ribbon or a small-diaphragm condenser, or both. Or direct and a pair of small-diaphragms? Totally unnecessary--sounds terrific as is--but it's fun to imagine. Peace!
Kurtis! Thank you for the kind words man! Ahh man, you got my soft spot... A ribbon in front of the amp and a condenser in front of the guitar is a setup I've been dreaming of... Can't really make it happen atm but I'm trying my best and I promise, I will make it happen! Thank you for the support! Cheers!
Hi! Very nice playing, you seem to be inspired by the guitar. Do you still play it, or have you maybe found a higher end instrument? I'm interested with this one. I have owned quite a few jazz guitars, but what interests me in this one is the real simple and functional design. Just one pickup, solid top, thin nitro coating. Very well thought if you want a purely jazz guitar in my opinion. I have 2 questions, if you can inform me it would help me make my decision. What is the body depth at the rim? This guitar seems a little thinner than other jazz guitars. Also, have you an idea of the weight. It should be quite light, but if you can give us the exact weight? Thanks for the good review on this quite under the radar guitar
Very nice playing & very helpful review. Thanks. How do you feel about the guitar's tone unplugged? I'm strongly considering buying one (even though I there's nowhere for me to try it out) but how a guitar sounds unplugged is very important, I think. And very often these f-hole arch top electrics don't sound so great acoustically.
Thank you so much! I think the unplugged tone is one of it's best features! The solid spruce top plays a crucial role in this one, it's really nice! Cheers!
Top notch guitar for sure , stanford makes great guitars for a decent price , i have an stanford crossroads thinline 30 ( ES 330 ) wich i was able to buy 2e hand and i know i will never sell it , the p 90's on it sound great . I had an eastman T64V before and i sold it because the short scale neck ( the neck meets the body at the 14e fret ) , but i really liked the sound ( it had seymour duncan antiquity p 90's ) and the guitar was great otherwise , although i also didn't like the relic vibe of it ( i just don't like reliced guitars , there like fake guitars to me somehow ) . So after a long search i come across the stanford thinline 30 guitar and it had all the specs i like from a ES 330 type off guitar ( full lenght neck , non relic and great vintage sounding P 90's pu's ) . I also put an bigsby on it , and i'm so happy with it now , it sounds great acoustic too . Have fun with you're stanford , great vid btw , greetings from holland .
Hey there! Thanks for checking out my video and for your insight! I love the idea of the Stanford Thinline 30. They're the only ones to take inspiration from the ES330 and fix it's biggest issue which is the neck joint. I bet it looks and sounds amazing with the bigsby! Enjoy it! Cheers!
