My son use Dunlop on his guitars, I use Schaller. Both works fine. Just remember to check that they sit tight once in a while and you're good to go.

Getting that retainer clip on can be tricky. Pliers and patience with quite abit of force. Thanks. I use a Music Nomad pristine Philips head to get stiff leather down so the rod-ring can come up in view. You make a good point with putting these on all your guitars, certainly your favorites. Thx for the demo.

I had Shallers before. Too bulky but more importantly, noisy. Clanging everytime the strap moves. 😂

Bought a couple gig bags from my local guitar shop and found a set of these in the side pockets of each bag. Installed both sets on a couple basses and they work great. I use Lock -It straps on the rest of my basses and they are a reliable alternative but the Dunlop Straplock system is rock solid. The fact that the components installed on your instrument are just strap buttons is great. Schallers funky design isnt compatable with anything else and other systems require you to attatch pieces of strap onto the instrument and those have plastic clips that are going to scratch the shit out of your finish while your instrument is in the CASE😳

At 6:27 The think I really dislike about Dunlop strap locks is that they are just too stinking narrow to fit comfortably on most straps. I definitely prefer the Schaller strap locks.

Thanks for the demo, but they're not for me. I can buy a decent new strap for the price of these straplocks. (AUD$35-$40 each) :( I have used the hard rubber rings on all my guitars for years without any problems. Simple, secure and cheap.

Hi Steve, thank you very much, your video is very helpful. I wish I had seen it before I bought the Schaller S-Locks for my guitars. The Dunlop are much more practical to use with the breech. And the disadvantage of the Schaller is that they are so long and stand on the floor when the guitar is in the floor stand. There is a permanent risk that the guitar will simply tip out of the stand. I measured, the Schaller stick out 3.5 cm from the guitar. :-( Can you tell me how much it is at the Dunlop? If that were less, I would immediately switch to the Dunlops and invest the money. It's annoying when you constantly have to be careful not to shred your instruments.

Hello, I have a quick question. Do they allow full rotation of the strap without unscrewing the buttons while doing that? Bc I've been using Shallers and they completely ruined the holes they are installed into by rotating buttons with them, so I'm looking for some alternative now...

The plastic clips that hold the bag closed on a loaf of bread. Put the strap on the guitar button, slide a bread clip on top of the strap and around the button shaft. Been using for years of gigging and practice, never had one fail.

@@ManotickGuitarTech thank you sir. I actually just started searching for these and found you can buy the buttons separate so one strap can serve all the guitars. Thanks for the video! Gave me confidence in this product. Push instead of pull is certainly the better design.

I have serious doubts as to your claim about the Schallers “breaking”?! I’ve been running them since I got my first set on a 1986 Kramer with zero issues. I have literally never heard of a set of Schaller straplocks breaking. Perhaps you got a set of look alike Chinese knock offs, that’s practically the only explanation as to them breaking. They are precision engineered and built in Germany and they are indestructible, my friend. 🤘

The schaller is far superior. The Dunlop ones can slip out. That’s literally impossible with the schaller design.

Until the part that screws on your strap loosens. You always have to check those schallers and make sure they are tight on the strap

There is literally no comparison between the Schallers and the inferior Dunlop’s. The Schaller strap locks are superior in every facet, save for cost. You get what you pay for! Lol There are two types of players who use Dunlop strap locks: those who’ve had them fail and those who will have them fail. My comparison is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BSInOEmEqhU.htmlsi=94VxIHG0b1Pr-e7g

Interesting video and you are entitled to your opinion as well. You were demonstrating the older version of the straplocks; the newer ones have a lower profile strap button that also will work with a regular strap. I have been using them for about 15 years (both versions) and have not experienced a failure. The best solution is for players to try both and see which they prefer. Thanks for watching!
@Metalcop5150

@@ManotickGuitarTech Definitely ‘to each their own’ subject. I did have a set of Dunlop’s in the mid 90’s on a beautiful 40th anniversary Les Paul, that failed on me… TWICE!!? Luckily I caught the guitar both times. I view my video as a public service, and there are many, many like stories, of the Dunlop’s failing, online. Whereas the precision German built and engineered Schallers, are nearly infallible. They do require maintenance, checking both the strap pin and the locks, for tightness, periodically, but that’s a small price to pay for their level of security. ✌️

@@Metalcop5150 Had dunlops on my guitars for 20 years, never had a failure. Schallers are good, but you need to keep an eye on them for things coming loose.
@Metalcop5150
@Metalcop5150 5 месяцев назад
@@andrew6978 Agreed, the Schallers do need to be checked, periodically. But that is better than having your straplocks just let go go no reason at all!! The Dunlop’s are just a poor design, all the weight is carried out too far, at the end of the strap pin. You’re one of the lucky ones!! The internet is full of stories of broken guitars from the Dunlop’s failing!! I had to catch my guitar, TWICE, or I’d have been a victim as well. 🤘😎🤘
