@@Angels-Playground what, i think your a bit braindead there buddy. the title an't even click bait, if all you want is your shitty "15 sec of fame" you got it
I'm actually glad that the mod is getting some recognition, it came out at around the time that cursed Halo was at it's hype and got overshadowed completely, so many people don't even know of its existence. Many "Halo loving" channels never bother to mention, look at, or play it.
Adding ODSTs to CE's campaign actually makes sense considering that ODSTs were stationed aboard the Pillar of Autumn and helped with the defense of Alpha Base under the command of Major Silva according to the events of Fireteam Raven which is canon. This mod is the best.
Heya Ruby, glad to see you around. I've been asking other Halo creators recently to try out your mod (like Frogarchist) but never any response (although Frogarchist threatened to ban me from commenting if I kept asking, pretty unfortunate tbh. Also, no I didn't spam it all the time, I limited it to only once every upload.) Edit: He finally played it but it doesn't seem like he had great impressions of it at the latter half. I think the main reason he didn't like the ending part of it is because he tried doing it all in one stream and wanted to rush the end instead of appreciating the scaled up battles.
Glad your mods getting signal boosted by a big name Halo content creator man, I played it myself for the first time round 6 months ago and was amazed, really appreciate both the skill and restraint you show with your additions.
@@bubbajoe117 definitely, I remember people recommending the SPV3 mod. Unfortunately SPV3 does not feel like Halo but rather a different game entirely. Also it just completely ruins the encounter for the flood in my opinion.
My favorite bit of the Library in this mod was adding the corpse of the badass marine who made it halfway through the library. You have to save an engineer from the flood in order to unlock the teleporter leading to it. The attention to detail is amazing!
Playing halo for 20+ years, this is the mod that cemented itself as THE way to experience halo. I'm glad it's getting more exposure and this is a great video showcasing a lot of what makes it special! Great breakdown. Spoilers for 2 Easter eggs...if you activate most of the terminals in 343 GS, you can enter one of the unused elevator rooms and regroup with Sgt. Johnson. He accompanies you through the remaining rooms and will regroup with the Marines at the end of the level. In two Betrayals, in the valley with the 2nd pulse generator, there is a switch in the Cliffside base opposite of the pulse generator, it activates a teleporter on the center structure that will lead back to the marines fighting the flood at the control room. If the battle goes in the marines favor they evac, and will later drop off a scorpion for you to make the final push to the 3rd generator.
Ruby’s rebalanced mods are so fucking beautiful and amazing And the sword being able to be used by the player in the mod will make a dream of a halo 1 player cry or something
This is pretty much the only way I replay CE now. It makes the levels I tend to skip (Library, Two Betrayals) easier to stomach with sandbox switch ups and better encounters. Legendary is also a lot more rewarding because you get so many features added. Legendary easter eggs, hidden weapon caches (i.e. rockets on PoA, scorpion spawn on Halo), Vanguard elite minibosses
also worth mentioning the final UNSC stand added to Two Betrayals. ODSTs hold the control room against the flood. You can fight alongside with them as long as you can until they get wiped
@@Substitube SPOILERS FOR TWO BETRAYALS If you mange to defend the marines for long enough then foehammer will come to pick them up and give you a scorpion to use in final run. Fitting since the marine defense encounter is the hardest in the game imo.
@@justarandomperson3700 That little side mission he made was everything I could have ever wanted as a Flood fan and longstanding Halo CE veteren, that's the first time I think i've ever desperately fought on the backfoot every step of the way.
@@bubbajoe117 Yeah, I'm glad he game the marines a proper send off. In vanilla the just disappeared after 343 guilty spark. Massive CE fan, but that always felt weird to me.
@@justarandomperson3700 yeah. I just assumed they were floodbait after the end of Guilty Spark (barring the survivors from the book), hence why we see sooo many human flood forms all over the ring. Nice to get one final hoorah.
This mod really is a must play for all that consider themselves big fans of CE. There's even more really cool stuff that wasn't shown. If any of you are thinking on playing it, always remember to pay attention and explore a lot, especially in places that were completely empty before. LIKE, do NOT miss the secret secondary mission in Two Betrayals. If Luc missed that one, he should go back and do it. It's SICK. You can sometimes save engineers from dying and they'll help you in certain ways. There's new dialogue for many NPCs that really adds to the world building and story telling (I'm guessing most of it is previously unused voice lines). You can headshot combat forms now if you shoot the infection forms in their chests. Some enemies like grunts now have flinching animations when you shoot them with less powerful projectiles. There is an upcoming campaign for this franchise to look forward to in the furture and it's Ruby's Halo 2 Rebalanced.
Fun Fact: CE's Fuel rod gun was never intended to be battery operated by Bungie. That was an addition by Gearbox specifically for Halo PC. It was also never purple, only appearing as such due to the campaign version sharing its -shader- _cubemap_ with the Banshee.
Wasn't it actually the cubemap (Rather than the shader) that gave it that purple look? At least, that's what I heard from the Vengeful Vadam's Halo Files shorts.
Ruby doesn't miss, their past versions of Halo 2 Rebalanced was incredible. I never cared much for Halo 2's vanilla campaign gameplay experience, their solution was to un-nerf the weapons that Dual Wielding had turned into pea shooters, increasing the lethality of both you and the enemies. There were also a ton of changes to Sacred Icon + Quarantine Zone to make the battles much more interesting, including adding human enemies when you play as Arbiter.
I've been trying to avoid watching any footage from his Halo 2 Rebalanced since I had the pleasure of going through Halo CE Rebalanced blind, man cooked us a prime rib steak for Halo 1 and I'm anxiously waiting to see what all he could do with Halo 2 and even further with Halo 3 with baited breath, out of all the mod authors i've seen he's the one that "gets" Bungies design philosophy when it comes to his mods, and I appreciate both his skill in refining and adding to the experience, and his restraint as to not muddy the original vision with unnecessary bloat... Yes I'm throwing a modicum of shade to SPV3 with that last bit lmao.
@@bubbajoe117 honestly I think he 'gets' what was good about CE far more than Bungie ever did. I won't spoil too much for H2 rebalanced, but going by his past versions, the changes Bungie made between CE & 2 which sucked - short of building entirely brand new maps, he's almost entirely un-sucked them. All the parts which were previously a slog, are no-longer a slog, and I can't wait to see how the new version all comes together.
@@bubbajoe117 oh yeah and SPV3 - like the HL2 Cinematic mod, the Deus Ex Revision mod, way too many ideas, many not executed or coordinated with the others particularly well, most of the visual changes are for the worse (why tf is all the vegetation desaturated now?). A passion project for sure, but sometimes more is less.
@@InnuendoXP Personally, I think SPV3 is best enjoyed when thinking of it as its own thing, rather than a mod for HCE. It just uses CE's engine as a base. I still had a fun time with it despite how different it was.
@@justarandomperson3700 oh it's a fun time as a fan project, but it isn't an 'improvement', though many people seem to love talking about it like it is.
One cool aspect of the mod that you missed is on Two Betrayals, it’s like a little side mission where you activate a teleporter to take you back to the top of the ziggurat to help the squads of ODSTS, marines and Autumn survivors hold off against wave after wave of Flood while waiting for a pelican to pick them up and take them back to Alpha Base.
Every Halo mod I've seen seems to go bananas with weird additions. This one is the first mod that truly seems like it gets it right. Halo 1 Deluxe. Not more, not less. I may actually try this out some day.
Hope you gave it a shot, particularly as it's on Steam Workshop. Yeah Ruby is one of those modders who has those rare qualities of taste & restraint, & actually seems to consider the broader context of things. Like they were constantly asking themselves that question the SPV3 team never did: "Sure, it's 'more', but is it actually adding something? Or is it taking away from the experience?" Ruby's mod really does feel like Halo CE: Developer's Cut. Everything you loved has been preserved and polished, here's some seasoning to shake up the dull parts, polished the rough parts, gave you something to find in the empty parts, and any additions made are just to help make what's already there more interesting.
Just an FYI: some of the hidden content and easter eggs in Ruby's Rebalanced CE are only available on Legendary. 28:14 When you enter that room, there's an engineer being attacked by combat forms. If you keep it alive, it will fly over and activate that panel for you. There are even more secrets on 343 GS than what you found. Two Betrayals has some amazing improvements, including a new side mission that it looks like you missed. Seriously, go play it again on Legendary and do some exploring, especially in the area near the second pulse generator. You'll be impressed. Lastly, if you want more like this, go give Combat Revolved a try. It's a very similar idea to Ruby's mod, but with some differences in execution. I'd say they're just about tied for best vanilla+ CE campaign mod.
Combat Revolved had good ideas, but I don't feel like they were executed as well as they could be. Played it a while back with a friend. The red on later levels was a bit much...
Next Halo I want them to add many of the unseen species into gameplay, like the Huragok, Drones, Slugmen, Dazreme, even the Yonhet and Endless. The possibilities to make the battlefield so much more chaotic and diverse are enormous
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem Rarely interacted with Covenant Fringe Species. Their Homeworld was a closely guarded secret. They lived on a ocean world with a massive underwater forerunner city that the Covenant didn’t want to risk destroying and didn’t have much ability to salvage so they established relations with the native Dazreme that had an unusual ability to jury rig forerunner tech. They could act like tech wizards on the Battlefield.
If you loved what he did with 343GS and the Flood, then you're going to adore what he's doing with Halo 2 right now, oh my god. He's made entirely new sections to the Flood Lab, and completely overhauled the level design for the Oracle in-line with similar principles to his design for CE's 343GS. It was so cool seeing you cover this mod!! The Energy Sword sticking out of the dead combat form was actually an idea I pitched during one of his modding streams, absolutely love his design philosophies and how faithful his mods feel to the kind of stuff Bungie were designing.
Mate, defending the marines against the covenant and flood at the control room on 2 betrayals until a pelican can come down to extract them to safety is epic. Edit, For those who don't know, if you head to the entrance opposite the second pulse generator, there's a terminal to activate a teleporter at the top of the centre building with the gold elite.
Anyone with military training or shooting enthusiasts actually find the recoil animations immersion breaking? Yeah, the AR might kick if you or I fired it, but remember, Chief is like 700x stronger than a normal human and has his suit artificial muscle. Chief could mag dump with an AR in each hand and it wouldn't sway in any perceptible way
I was itching for a new video earlier this morning so I went and watched an old one. What do you know you uploaded! Thanks for keeping Halo alive you have become as much of Halo as Halo itself.
First thing I did when I got my PC last year was play through this mod, and it was the best feeling being able to replay my favorite halo campaign with improved weapons, enemy encounters, ambience, and new features
I really dig these kind of videos, you can hear your excitement and passion for Halo come through. Also I've been watching your channel since I was in Year 11, I'm about to graduate now, and its a big reason I've stayed connected with Halo as a whole. So thanks for that 😊
@@HiddenXperia Oh did you have a channel before this one? I think my first video of yours was a video on Noble Six. I remember it had a basic thumbnail with the ICONIC yellow text. I was supposed to be revising for my GCSEs and ended up binging the early flood lore vids instead lmao
I've played Ruby's and Havoc, and I like the Chaos that was Havoc mod way better with its addition of more friendlies in the later levels, plus at the end of the Maw you get to drive another spartan and Sgt Johnson to the longsword with a twist at the end of the cutscene.
I played this a couple months ago, and even though I'm normally someone who enjoys vanilla games better, this mod nailed it. The weapon balance fixes alone are spot-on, but the additional content sprinkled in is done so respectfully and thoughtfully. The optional last stand with the Marines in Two Betrayals is up there for the most fun I've ever had in Halo. I genuinely consider playing Ruby's Rebalanced over Vanilla Halo CE whenever I have the itch to play Halo, and it just proves how good it is, that it can not only scratch the same itch, but be even better.
As someone who played Halo CE since i was 3 years old, i can not wait to get myself a pc for MCC and get to replay my favourite Halo with new and welcomed additions.
Hey HiddenXperia, if you thought CE Rebalanced was cool, you should check out Ruby's development streams for his upcoming Halo 2 Rebalanced. Ill just say: Halo 2 Rebalanced is easily going to be triple the content than that of seen in CE: R. He came out with a cinematic trailer for H2R as well.
Something I'd like to correct is that you can actually get the flamethrower in heroic also in Assault on the Control Room, its before the 2nd inside section. At the point where you have to abandon your Warthog/Scorpion, head into the little cave as you normally would, and then after fighting off the enemies, go to the right until you see a dead body, and then the Flamethrower should be there.
What else would be cool is if you can play 4 player co-op in halo CE where the other players can play as Marines. Choose between 3 marine models. Green eye piece marine, ODST, or boonie cap marine. No shields
my favorite bit of world building has to be the firefight section with the Marines in Two Betrayals. when you grab the Banshee in the 2nd canyon if you go into the door that isn't the one with pulse generator you'll find a holopanel that activates a teleporter. If you go into said teleporter you'll be instructed to defend the Marines until evac arrives and if you manage to win the encounter then you'll be rewarded with a Scorpion that Foehammer delivers to you at the start of the final canyon.
The fight down the from that stone "bridge" to the base of the Control Room was always there in vanilla CE. stealing the banshee is just one possible way of finishing the mission
What does "Sustainable wood" mean? Ok, I looked it up and I got; "Sustainable wood is timber that can be used for building and furniture without harming the environment. It comes from renewable sources where trees can be felled and replanted with little impact on local wildlife, ecosystems, and the environment" That's pretty cool
WOW!!! This is too RAD! It's almost like a definitive edition of the game. This is making me tear up dude. It's beautiful, it flashes the game out in such a marvelous and respectful way and really tugs on my heart strings with the nostalgia and what I always wanted Halo CE to be. MAN 343 WHY CAN'T YOU DO THIS!?!?
Lil things like this is what truly revives an experience in a video game. Absolutely needed an excuse to play all the Halos again!!! Lets gooooo!!!! 🙌🏾😤😎
I was wondering if you want to try my mod, "Unyielding Threat"? Its a flood horror mod, taking place on the Pillar Of Autumn filled with custom voice acting!
Played Ruby's Rebalanced a couple months ago & it completely obliterated my expectations. There were some things i discovered in the latter half of the Campaign that genuinely blew me away. I found Johnson in 343 Guilty Spark, a valiant last stand by the UNSC when you return back to the Control Room (and i mean mid mission through teleporters that you most definitely missed) just to name a few. Hands down my definitive way of experiencing CE again
See this is just a testament to how deeply Ruby designed these levels - I legit had no idea about any of that and I *REALLY* searched the maps for easter eggs. So damn cool!
Dude the amount of Flood you have to fight off in that part where you go back to the control room is freaking nuts. Definitely a good thing they drop lots of grenades and shotguns to use at your disposal.
@@Determ1nat1on It was so satisfying successfully saving at least most of them. I lost a couple due to Infection Forms but they actually do a pretty formidable job standing their ground I was surprised.
I know some people don't like Ruby's mods *COUGH* LateNightGaming *COUGH* , but you can't deny that Ruby is passionate and puts a lot of effort into his mods.
Please keep covering Halo mods as well! Love the content and I think Halo mods are what keeps the game alive for a lot of people including myself. I've put thousands of hours into making MCC mods but hardly touched infinite's multiplayer because I just felt like it lacked the love and polish and fun social content that Bungie's games always had. Keep up the great work!
It’s honestly down to choose between Ruby’s or Combat Revolved. Revolved adds content, but also adds in encounters from the books and other media like Fireteam Raven and Zuka Zamamee. Ruby’s seems more like a fun experience overall. Tho i wish he added references from the books and fireteam raven into the mod.
I think they're there and there's just not a whole lot of specific focus given to them, a lot of encounters have been tampered with or adjusted to play out more akin to how they do in the books, such as the Covenants final holdout in Two Betrayals, or Marvin Mobuto's corpse in Library, the ODST squad on two betrayals could be fireteam Raven and Zuka Zamamee is on the elevator in the Maw in his trademark patented Demon Slayer turret.
this looks amazing! I only wish they added weapons from other halos, and other covies like skirmishers, brutes, and drones. As well as the pure flood forms. And that big sentinal. For the most full experience. This looks absolutely dope though
On that Fuel Rod note I know what you mean I can’t stress it enough how much I loved the Halo CE version of the Fuel Rod! The artillery style the battery ammo. It was just incredible! Favorite map to go use it online was blood gulch just to pour down rain on your enemy for so reason 💦
I'd heavily suggest you go through this again on Legendary, it has exclusive content for that specific difficulty I think you'll really find surprising!
Even though this is an amazing mod there’s one thing that I think it’s sorely missing, that being the real time infections. In spv3 they have them but they happen so fast it seems off, it’s like the infection form jumps on a marine and he’s running around for two seconds then instantly transforms into a combat form and starts shooting allies. If it took twice as long it would feel like halo3s imo, which were perfect.
IIRC, Elite Ultras were added 'cause Ruby thought the zealots were too common in base CE. So Ultras were added to take their original place and Zealots became a rarer and more threatening enemy encounter.
Plus it makes sense since he mostly just replaced all the plasma rifle wielding zealots with the Ultras, baring a few that occasionally use swords, the plasma rifle wielding zealots already behaved like the Ultras from Halo 2 anyway so the change was natural.
It makes sense why the Covenant would enjoy their time on Halo while also still being a military. Its important to them (also just really pretty, i would also want to see the sunset over the lake and go swimming and make a campfire)
I like Havoc more than Rubys because it has a lot of original additions and changes to the levels. I like having marines with me on 343 - the Maw showcasing we're losing, but we're not out of the fight with the rest of the bois.
@@HawaiianForgeStudios 343GS level legit scared me and had me running the whole second half on normal difficulty. I even got lost even though normally I know the way to the elevator down. 11/10 imo
@@mattdovale The addition of the radio calls of marines getting destroyed by flood is also horrifying and unsettling with the fact that they are harder to put down in Havoc.
I love how The Library turned from just Forerunner hallways to a desecrated war zone with tons of Covenant fortifications scattered around, but eriely quiet. Really adds a lot of storytelling and variance to the level.
The ambient noises here and there give it life as well. I really like what he did at the beginning of the level. Instead of having the Flood already waiting for you like in vanilla, the first hallway is completely deserted. Once you walk forward you hear a loud bang and then the Flood scream and you're given just enough time to react before you're under attack. There's a couple instances similar to this throughout the level and it's so much better.
I like to use the term “grounded” when describing realism in games. It doesn’t give off the false idea that whatever it is is real or true to life, but feels real despite any fantastical elements. Grounded being based on reality, more akin to realism in art, but not realistic if that makes sense 🙃.
never bothered learning about this mod. Thanks for presenting it to us Luc Edit:yes! The Specter is so underrated. I would have loved a full mission using it or even another extended vehicle section
I did not need any extra reason to replay this campaign, but I guess someone said otherwise lol. Super sweet mod that I cannot wait to enjoy over and over and over again 🎉
Absolutely incredible mod, ruby is very much so talented and I hope they continue doing more mods in the future aswell as get the support n love they deserve:D
34:50 I kind of liked in CE how the marines sort of vanished from the campaign after the Flood outbreak. It really lends credence to the notion that Chief and Cortana are the last ones standing, and the urgency to stop the Covenant, Monitor, and Flood feels that much more frantic and real. But this is cool also.
I always thought the original Halo 1 plasma rifle sound effect was better, and the pew pew shoulda been the plasma pistol while the rifle kept the zhoo zhoo sound
Hope someday a mod this big is developed for halo 2...that game has so much potential for many new adventures including the flood juggernaut as a tank enemy or halo3 styled armored brutes...
The panel that you couldn't figure out how to activate in 343 guilty spark requires that you save the Engineer in the room. Once the flood are dead, he'll activate the panel, which will lead you to discovering Sargeant Johnson :)
