This was my first skateboarding video along with Shorty's Guilty. I love the split screen editing at 1:50, and after 17 years of skating now myself, I still can't hard flip like that.
The first time I saw him was when public domain came out. That was way back yeah. Kinda cool to see how kids, from back then, grow & progress over such a period of time without losing the love for it. Props for that!!!!
I've watched it maybe 15 years ago and forgot it immediately, i was keen on Danny Gonzales and didn't give a fuck about Chet Thomas. But fuck what a pleasure to watch it again!!!! All these hardflips nosegrind/slide, he was tech and creative with so much style and pop ! I definitely love it !!!!
That was incredible!! The whole last minutes of this are all above Enders in my book .. no wonder you have to flip in 540 flip out of a switch blunt slide down el toro just to be considered AM
C'mon fellas, without guys like Chet, the shredders of today wouldn't exist. A skater inspires someone, then that someone goes out and elaborates. All hail 'cause there still aren't really any skaters to date that throw down hardflips quite like Thomas...I swear, it's like he can do them in and out of everything (exaggeration, but damn he's got them down) :P
I'M TRYING TO SKATEBOARD HERE...NO TIME FOR AUTOGRAPH...that's the only thing i remember about meeting this guy at the north delta skate park grand opening. lol
My favorite growing up was Andrew Reynolds. No question. However, in truth, Chet was the guy who inspired my own style, and if you saw who's board I always had and then shoes and Darkstar gear - Chet is still number one fav. I used to steal his board's (a-team) just to keep his name under my feet. 7.75 x 31.5! So in hinde sight, Andrew Reynolds was 2. Never bought nor stole his gear.
@fashizzlemanizzable style back when this vid was made, was completely different from what it is today. his hardflips are really nice now, but back then they were godly to people
If ur 'nu skool' then you maybe wont have seen Chet and Ray Barbee in the opening scenes of the 1988 Bones Brigade vid 'Public Domain' around the time of the birth of real street skating, its on here if you do a search....classic. Chet's like 12 years old in it maybe a little older???
people can't compare his hardflip to hermans or maltos, chet thomas does a bunch hardflip variations or a hardflip into a bunch of tricks on a ledge when herm and malto just do plain hardflips down huge stairs
btw i like hardflips, because seems to be everyone does them different, with slightly different style, and there are much beautiful ones. i love to do this trick myself, and if you do it beautiful than even on flat them lookin hot. i dont like much: jimmy carlins (but his reverts are great too, collin provosts (but sometimes he has good ones) and switch ones lookin not as good most of them. liking also: Luan de Oliveiras!
Ahlala c'est bien un truc de français ça de dénigrer des pros alors que, honnetement hardflip fs crooked ça vend du rêve, quand tu vois que le ender de mikey taylor dans la skate more c'etait fs shuv fs crooked...
