I very much appreciate that you didn't produce this video as a 10 minute fluff-filled time-grab. Your content is great and I've learned a ton- keep up the stellar work!

Regarding stakes- will lengths of rebar be sufficient for taught lines, or do I need something more robust?

Rebar works too, as long as it’s not too bendy, and use the orange safety caps to avoid potential injury for anyone falling!

love your content. could you talk about your screeding rails. what do u find to be the best. we use 1 " round steel in various lengths. seems to work alright but constantly batteling to maintain the straightness over a season. any tips?

I used to use something similar. I switched to 1” square steel tubing and would never go back! Can get it from a metal wholesaler for pretty cheap.

after you screed a section and move your screeding rails, is there trick to keep your screed rails consistently level and at right height?

The biggest key is to do a very precise final screed of your base layer, so there are very little discrepancies on the surface (ideally less than 1/4”). Then you should be able to just double check the bars are still level with section before, and you can use a level or measure up to your stringlines to double check the other end before you continue to screed.
