1. You need to swing earlier for inside balls and a touch later outside. 2. Turn up the sound effects volume and drop the music and commentary. This will let you hear the ball 'wizz' through the air when it's close to optimal hitting range. as soon as I started listening for it, I was stacking up double perfect hits. Great video btw!

Been playing The Show for many, many years. I think my first game in The Show was 2008. There is absolutely a steep learning curve, especially when it comes to hitting. You have to play it like real baseball. Baseball is all about the battle between hitter and pitcher. You have to be patient. You want to get the pitcher behind in the count. First pitch swinging is usually a no no unless the guy is being shelled. Patience is key. You should even be picky with balls in the zone early in the count. Just because it's in the strike zone doesn't mean it's a good ball to hit. If you're patient and get ahead in the count, they will usually throw you something you can handle. Putting the pitcher in a corner makes it much easier to guess at what the next pitch will be. You also want long at bats to wear a starter down. The quicker you can get to the bullpen the better.

@@tylerhall3341 Depends on how deep your starter goes. If he's shelled early you may need 3-4. A reliever doesn't have alot of stamina. Ideally you want your starter to go through the 7th and use your set up guy for the 8th and closer for the 9th. Lots of things factor into when you should bring in a reliever for your starter. If he's pitching well with a low pitch count and you got a 4+ run lead, I will let them pitch a complete game and save my relievers stamina. If it's a close game you should be very careful on changing pitchers. Look for match up advantages (like bringing in left handed relievers if your opponent has left handed batters coming up to bat). Late in a close game a single hit could spell trouble. Even with full stamina a pitcher can get rattled and get slapped hard. Pay close attention to the confidence bar too. If a reliever gives up a hit in a close game I usually immediately pull him if I'm able to. remember a pitcher must face 3 batters, or end an inning before you can replace. I hope this helps.

This is a good tip, however, you need to read the ball first, unless u are able to read the pitches, u won’t execute this as well. When u identify the piches then u can sit on the balls that are better for u personal swinging style

This game is infuriating so far. I am consistently getting perfect prefects and having the ball super close to the middle of my pci and non stop getting out and rarely getting hits. Seems like even on pitches down in the zone all I do is it lazy fly balls on near perfect pci placement and timing.

Thanks for the great video. Do you have a particular approach for swing type when using buttons or do you stick with a normal swing? I’ve had some success with using a power swing when my batter has a high contact rating compared to the pitcher’s H/9, normal swing when the attributes are at more equal levels, and contact when attempting to avoid striking out in two strike counts. Is this overthinking it or do you use a variable approach to swing types as well. Thanks!

The general advice is to just use normal swing. If you have a stat advantage it will show either way

Thank you for those last few tips. I play on an old ish TV with broken ps4 controller that I cannot push up in certain areas on the left analog stick. I told my friend about it and he legit thinks I’m making excuses. I also acknowledge I suck at the game I mean it’s my first year playing it but I was pretty sure response time and uhhhhh a WORKING CONTROLLER would be a pretty significant difference maker. He was not convinced. Anyway thank you for making me feel 17.6297% better about myself and improving my game

Do u prefer to put pci top middle and follow ball all the way through from pitchers rrelease? I seen alot of good players do that recently, i been working on it, and i kinda like it, or do u just prefer to put pci up one circle block and go from there?

That's how I've done it for at least 10 years, been playing the The Show for 15. Start it at the top and follow the ball. Personally I think the biggest mental block to get over when it comes to hitting in The Show is being patient and not swinging early. People like to swing at the first pitch and if they miss, they get into this mindset where they're swinging at anything and your opponent, or even the AI knows you're going to swing at anything so you get nothing to hit. I almost always take the first pitch unless I'm absolutely shelling the pitcher.

I had heard someone mention to play on All Star since online modes generally use it (according to them). I use dynamic difficulty but select All Star whenever I play Diamond Dynasty. From what I found online BR and Events are All Star and then ranked goes along with your rating

Try switching your hitting view or the time of day in your stadium, for example if your playing in a sunny Stadium the ball may blend into the sky and it might make it harder to see the ball, so try changing weather or time of day

Hitting in this game is just frustrating half the time, I'm trying these settings and they seem to work but I'm not good at reading where pitches are gonna be thrown. I always seem to strikeout.

It’s always practice, the more you play with the INTENTION of getting better, you’ll get better. Meaning be calm, have an approach at the plate. Get good at one quadrant of the zone to start, and wait for pitches in that spot early in the count. Also pay attention to where the opponent is pitching. A lot of people lower ranked throw pitches in the same places all game

Should you use normal swings or power swings.

Normal swings almost always, power swings will only make your PCI smaller and the trade off usually isn’t worth it. You’ll get plenty of hard hit balls with just normal swing

The biggest issue I encountered is that regardless of the level u choose in practice, there is a significant difference between practice mode and online mode

@Davis Rodriguez That is true to an extent but even AS level is different. Play the CPU on AS and then jump online and play at AS. There is a noticeable difference in pitch speed IMO.

@jayo4739 There is still a difference of some type. I can play games vs CPU on HOF & Legend for hours and then go to AS head to head online and will still be late. I don't know what the difference is but there is something different between online & offline.
