Ha! I just recommended that myself in a 5 year old video about natural flavors. Since 90% of what we see is bad, he could open a very tiny store. He could probably fit all his approved items into a single isle of a normal store. Why is that not happening?
Yes you are right on the difference in between the spelling. The Hummus is more American where Hommus is more Middle Eastern. They are both pronounced the same with more emphasis on the letter "O". I am Lebanese and growing up we ate hummus like 55 times a day, LOL. I couldn't agree with you more on the importance of Olive Oil, not only is it better for you but it changes the taste profile. I make my own hummus and use the best Olive Oil I can get my hands on. Thank you for this video, love all your videos. I bought your cookbook and I use it regularly.
Yes and so hard to get that whipped, fluffy light texture and taste in store bought but it's nice in a pinch as long as the ingredients are Bobby approved like
I just made my own dill dip (a la Marzetti’s) with grass fed Greek yogurt, dried dill and parsley, some onion and garlic powders, salt and pepper and it’s just as good with way less problematic ingredients. And I bet kids would love it too and would be a great way to get kids to eat more veggies.
Good info! But if it's too hard to find hummus with the right ingredients (and also pricey $$). I'll say just make your own, anybody with a food processor can make hummus, it's easy to make and you have control over the quality of the ingredients you put in.
The right way of writing it is Hummus and it is a dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with Tahini( sesame paste), lemon juice, and garlic. It is very easy to make fresh. But good to have a healthier options to buy when you don't have the time. Thank you so much for sharing information about healthier choices.
Well believe it or not hummus doesn't contain any oil .it's made of 5 ingredients . Chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice water and salt .some people add garlic .you just drizzle olive oil to garnish!
The best hummus (both ingredients and taste) is in Wisconsin! moved here from Illinois and a store called Outpost carries a local brand called Georgio’s . IT IS AMAZING ! Not even comparable to others. Worth the trip up here. Anyway, love your channel - very informative.
I can’t find the ingredients online (and I’m not home to check) but from what I remember it’s chickpeas, olive oil (not sure of more details abt expeller pressed etc) garlic, salt, tahini , maybe lemon and water ? All very normal ingredients but this hummus is so good my relative ask me to bring it home with me because they can’t get it outside of Wisconsin. Also the company is a natural food company local to Wisconsin. Small family owned business. The hummus is VERY flavorful and has a great balance between garlic and tahini.
There’s a local brand here called Darista Dips and their “traditional” hummus flavor uses extra virgin olive oil and it’s SOOOOO delicious. I highly recommend it if you come across it.
Love your ingredient info & explanations. Amazing how many folks do not read the ingredient list. Is there are spread similar to hummus with more protein?
Curious if you’ve ever done low sodium options? I just got out of the hospital and my sodium has to stay below 2000mg per day for awhile. Any advice on products to buy for someone like me?
Hey Bobby, The bitchin sauce grapeseed oil is expeller pressed! It says on the website and their big packaged boxes. I'm not sure why they wouldn't say it on the container though. Love the video!
Hey Bobby! Really enjoyed this video! You should look into Ithaca Hummus! Their ingredients are super clean made without processed oils and all real ingredients!
The BEST Hummus is the one you so easily make at home in a blender. It’s cheaper, and tastes better and you know what’s in it. Just make sure you buy organic peas and tahini! No need for expensive overpriced store Hummus.
I laugh when I see people buying premade . We can make 10x more, with exquisite ingredients for the same price. How many days would we keep ours in the fridge, meanwhile when was the store bought made?
I rather make a little more money and have the convenience of buying things already made. It is also why I rather go to a good organic local restaurant than cook at home. And if you need more money email me your smartphone number and I'll show you a way to save money, help the environment and make as much money as you can ever spend. It should be ready in March 2020. email me at newyorknm1@gmail.com and mention you saw this video and my offer. ;)) And I guarantee it would be 100% Bobby Approved!
I have to stop watching this because every time Flava Flav Bobby got me throwing away all the things I just got from the store and/or currently eating lol soo let me finish my food first, my Kite Hill French onion dip and then I’ll come back to this video LOL but in all seriousness I love your channel and your beautiful family! You guys are the best, I’ve started to choose more nutritious foods thanks to you guys! God bless you and your beautiful family! 🎉🤗
Also let me get that app you got! Because I literally bought this dip I thought was healthy, I love to make my own but the time factor, nevertheless I didn’t know yeast extract is another form of MSG! 😩That makes so much more sense, let me get your app and check it out next time I go to Sprouts 💕
Bobby I’m going to keep trying to think of videos ideas. You may not believe it but i do 😂😂 you have done all the categories of food and beverage in the grocery store😧 Are you uploading until Jan 31?!!! Holy cow!! So much!!
Yassss Flav City Shorts are da bomb short sweet and informative. The longer vids are awesome too thats when you get a double dose of Bobby & Art whoo hoo. go Bobby goooooooo thanks for all your hard work....you too Art. Cheers boys :-)
I love the hummus from falafel king, I can buy it at Whole Foods and natural grocers in my area. These are the ingredients; Ingredients freshly cooked garbanzo beans, tahini, filtered water, lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, sea salt, citric acid, cumin, cultured dextrose, spices. The only ingredient that I’m not sure about is cultured dextrose everything else looks good though.
Will buy all while am in usa in may for my cousin graduation love your stories and food made me hungry as always love your hauls videos sooooooooooooo much drooling over my samsung galaxy j4 love your dad and stories always brighten up my day love your recipes making me hungry Thanks Ramya
The HOPE hummus is fantastic. It is just on the border of being too hot, but stops before it gets too peppery. I have it frequently, because I enjoy it so much. Will attempt to make some home-made with essentially the same flavoring to cut costs.
Holy Land Hummus based out of Minneapolis, MN. Not all their varieties use EVOO, but the version they sell at Costco does! That and Hope Hummus are the only one's I buy.
Hey I was searching for your videos on RU-vid and I typed in the search bar Bobby flay then I realized it was not you but I bet you can cook just as good as him if not even BETTER!😌
Having an Aldi store nearby is a wonderful blessing! Thank you for your comment. My grocery shopping day w/ them is tomorrow. I'll look for your recommendation.
Bobby you need to come to. Fresh Thyme some day! They have great products! Lots of locals Midwestern produce and lots of organic items. I love mine in the north Western suburbs
Thank you 4 the information. I will buy at bremerton wa grocery outlet store hope brand hummus. Thank you 4 pointing out yeast extract is MSG, palm oil, soybean oil, canola oil, and grapeseed oil are bad because is that healthy way of extracting the oil.
I was reading about "olive oil" & how unregulated in the U.S. it can be mixed with lamp grade oil and still be labeled as "Olive oil" - You have to be very careful ..! Again as I always say Make your own "hummus' @ Home , it's very easy to do IMO...!!
My favorite Hummus is the organic brands only, such as 'Inspired Organics' brand.. i don't like Sabra brand hummus at all-- because it tastes like preservatives
I roast a red pepper over the stove and toss it in the Vitamix with garbonzo, sea salt, olive oil, and garlic clove. There are about 8 different spellings for hummus.
I watch all ur videos. I want to know what store were u in for this video? Was it whole foods? I never seen so many diff choices for dip and hummus. I guess I been get the wrong brands. I like hummus. Thank u for everything u do. I am 51 and single. I live in pomona CA. I have several health issues and I'm disabled. I am trying to eat healthier and smarter. I enjoy ur videos and I have learned alot from u. Takecare I wish the best for u and ur beautiful family laura aday
This topic may not be ideal for your January (New Year) videos, but have you or would you consider doing a video strictly on common ingredients used by manufacturers that we should avoid and why we should be avoiding them. I've created an ongoing list based on an accumulation of your videos, but if you put something together in one video that would be great. Example, carrageenan. What it is, what products it's normally found in and why we should avoid it. Thank you.
We love eating hummus but I had to stop buying it. It was just me and my daughter's eating it, but now my husband and son eats it. So I make it homemade because we was spending 30 bucks a month on just hummus.
Since it seems as though about 90% of the products we see on the shelf use an oil you don’t like… maybe it would be good to rank those bad oils in severity of badness, for those who are maybe thinking that they can’t afford the good stuff, but want to buy the best of the bad stuff. Are they really all absolutely equal in every way, for how much damage they cause to a human body? Or are some less damaging?
My niece married a Middle Eastern gentleman (PhD engineer). They now live in California. Anyway, for her bridal shower (besides her gift), I made him homemade hummus. Even though I'm 81% British ancestry (100% American) - I was a HUGE hit w/ his sisters at this shower. P.S. I used extra virgin olive oil.
Can you come out to Berkeley, CA and recommend products from the famous Berkeley Bowl, one of the best family-run produce stores in the world? Also, we don't have Aldi's out here. We have Safeway and Lucky's. Can you make a trip west some time and recommend products from there?
I was not able to find either of the bobby approved hummus. There was another brand and their lemon flavored one has "lemon oil". Sounds like that's an essential oil. Is that okay to ingest?
I'm surprised Bobby didn't mention CAVA hummus, located right by the other brand he showed. It's the only brand hummus I trust and buy. NO oils! I'm so glad Whole Foods carry CAVA brand products. CAVA is only one of few places I can eat at as a devout vegan.
I had to start doing that because my daughter's and me were the only ones eating it. My husband and son eat it now so I had to start making it homemade to cut back on expenses. We was spending 30 bucks on it alone
Just starting on my eat healthy and lose weight, journey. Love your videos. Any recommendations on the best spinach extracts to use to prepare smoothies or as supplements? A RU-vid nutritionist has a few listed but just started watching her so at this point I am still skeptical of her recommendations.
Basically there is no difference between hummus and hommus. Heck you can even type it hammos, hammus etc. That's because the 2nd letter that is used in Arabic is something between an A,E and U. Even the 2nd to last letter isn't exactly a U. It can be read as an O. The interesting thing is that hummus means Chickpea in arabic. It is not the name of a specific dip. So when they say avocado pine nut hummus that doesn't have chickpea in it, is not really a hummus.
Bobby, are you a Medical Doctor, nutritionist, dietitian? What’s your basis on your videos If I may ask. Or is it based on opinion and personal research?
Hi Bobby, Love your channel On whole 30 day 20 can you do more whole 30 good quality finds? Also had the cashew dip siete hurt my stomach, with whole 30 realizing what I can’t have Julia
Awesome vids. Subscribe a few weeks ago and appreciate the information as well as the recommendations. Thanks again for the good vibe vids. It puts me in a good mood. #positivePeople
