Peace. I'm new to the whole stock market thing, but I have been doing a little research on index funds/etf's. Most sources i've read or listened to so far says that they are more safe for the new investor. I opened an account at fidelity and I have deposited a couple of hundred. I was thinking about maybe investing in a VTI and maybe a VOO or the any of the fidelity equivalents but I don't really understand how. For example, the price of the VTI is $208. 46. I know that you can buy fractional shares, but I I was going to add money say monthly, if I paid the the whole $208.46 in the beginning do have to continue paying that amount monthly or? Please pardon my ignorance I am just getting into this. I hope my question makes sense.
The beauty of buying index funds/ETF's. It doesn't matter what price you jump in at. As long as on a regular basis you continue to buy. That way you will always pay the market average! Buying individual stocks. Buying at the right price is the most important part. Which leads to understanding how to value a company. If you don't know how to value a company you are in trouble and will be blindly jumping into an investment. Now what i'm explaining only works if you are an investor. If your a trader perhaps this will not apply to you!
