We watch as Club Champion do what they do for a Higher Handicap golfer.
FOR A GREAT DISCOUNT OFF YOUR FITTING USE CODE: HERM9813 AND MENTION THAT JEFF HERMAN SENT YOU!!!! THANK YOU.
We condensed over two hours of filming into 20 minutes- the winning irons were 25% better in distance, height, and spin than current gamer setup.
This was a lot of fun, and proved to us once again, that you have to get outside of your comfort zone to really get fit.
Check our www.modrngolf.com for all of our reviews etc.
Also, feel free to use the code: HERM9813 for 50% off any fitting.

I have always been a sucker for a good club fitting video, and this one was pretty good. Not convinced that a lie board is the best way of checking lie angles - it is very old school. I am a big fan of SteelFiber shafts as I play them in my irons, incredibly stable feeling shafts. What I have been told in the past is that most players find that Steelfiber shafts play a bit stiffer than their designated flex - so I play regular i80s in my irons but stiff shafts in my hybrid, fairway woods and driver. Not knowing Steve, and therefore not knowing if he has physical limitations which may impact his swing, I think a good coach could correct his collapsing back swing. Steve would probably gain 15 mph of club head speed fairly quickly and probably another 20 yards of carry with his 6i. The great thing is that the T350s will still be an excellent choice in that scenario although Steve might need a slightly heavier and/or stiffer shaft in them then

Love this comment. 100% agree on all fronts- the lie board is just starting point for sure. I’ve played 2* flat and could barely tell one way or the other. Lessons would be a help as well- I think the starting point for him was to get new equipment; then begin the evolution. Incredible comment- thanks!

Right awat you could tell the Titleist was hitting better and higher.Steves low backspin is keeping him from getting ball higher but thats a swing issue a club wont fix.He pulls up instead of hitting down on ball and hitting low shots.Definstely would help in wet conditions and eliminste any fat shots.

From the video seems like the distance gains were from only the best hits also the BB 7i loft was 33* and the T350 7i is 29*. Also, I would run from a fitter talking about iron total distance instead of carry, descent and spin. Finally, I don't think a lie board is considered useful/accurate for determining club lie angle. Just a bad fitting in my opinion regarding performance but the T350 does look better and may feel better.

I shortened the video- there was a significant difference between old/new

More loft, and more hybrids / fairway woods is the way to go. Probably only need around 10-12 clus as a bunch of clubs will go the same distance in the middle of the set with your swing speed. Have to maintain high ball speed and MOI as well. So, I would look at up to a 7 hybrid, and perhaps your longest iron at no lower than 34 degrees of loft. The Cleveland Launcher, Wilson Launchpad, Taylormade HD, and PXG 0211Z may be good test candidates. G430 with retro lofts may also be worth a try. But, unlikely to be enough. An iron that runs out 20 yards+ is unfortunately useless.

Steve is doing great with the new fw wood. Funny you mention less clubs as that was talked about in an earlier post. Too funny. Thanks for the comment.

I went to a Taylormade free fitting event, I was done after 5 minutes. Maybe I need to visit a club champion to get a real fitting done.

Everything about this video, was good. Until I saw the Ping lieangle board. The tool has been proven to be bad and cause the computer to measure wrong, because the deflection of the club off that board isn't natural, to what you'll see in real course conditions. Your friend may need to be refit and his lie angle adjusted, if he finds a lot of his shots are carrying left or right. Probably more left hooks, because of the 1 degree upright. Good luck, and enjoy.

Great comment. Lie angle boards are a bit archaic.

Good to watch but he'd have been much better to spend half that money on a second hand game improvement set and the other half on lessons.

It’s a tough question- I appreciate the comment nevertheless. Some people buy new gear every year- some over few decades. I’m excited to see the scoring results- that’s the real test.
@73henny
@73henny Год назад
@@modrngolf With all due respect to your customer if he needs 6i to cover 110yds then the tiny % gains of a new top of the range set over a good second hand set isn't where the value lies. I get that some people buy new clubs every year but he isn't one of them.

Why use a lie angle board when you have quad? Lie boards are notoriously inaccurate. Quad tells you lie angle anyway
@modrngolf
@modrngolf 5 месяцев назад
I think it’s an outdated concept; but it doesn’t hurt. Some times the way you grip a club or even grip size can cause lie angle issues.
