I've had every Galaxy S phone since the first one in 2010. My favourite design by far was the S9. Now my favourite is the S23. It's such a sleek and sexy phone.
Same, was using the iPhone 13 before, I was a life long android user. It just felt like I had been stripped of features, rather than being given more. I don't think I'll buy an iPhone again. At least not until I see more improvements/features. Just feels like you're being sold the same product, year after year. Loving my S23.
@@Jacqie absolutely loving it mate, thanks for the video. That's also true, yeah. Didn't like the Exynos chips etc and that's why I moved to the iPhone for a while. Felt stuck between a rock and a hard place lol.
Moving to the S23, I'm gonna miss the physical side fingerprint scanner, SD storage and headphone jack from my S10e and Xperia 5 II, but I guess I'll probably have to get used to it at some point.
Got the S23+ plus. Just the right size for me. Big display and bigger battery. Easy to fit inside your pocket and the weight is just so right for me. A beast when it comes to performance and battery life.
@@Jacqie Yes man. I came from the S10+ A very good device. First experience of the Snapdragon Gen 2 or should I say Snapdragon. As we had the Exynos in our country. Glad that there's no Exynos variant this time. 😄
Great video, this device is probably the best compact flagship Samsung put out there since the S10e but I don't agree with your take on the sharp corners of this model. It feels uncomfortable to hold compared to my S10e and the lack of a 3.5mm jack just makes me sour. Aside from those 2 little nitpicks, this phone is practically flawless in major areas of the phone checklist!
Guess it is preference, my wife also doesn't like the sharper corners, and yeah a lot of people are sour about the lack of 3.5mm jack. With the amount of people I have just seen wanting this from this video, it almost feels worth it for them to add it back
Outstanding video. Hope your channel grows at a exponential rate, good seeing fellow South Africans making good youtube content. Have been searching for a S23 review but mostly getting reviews for the Plus and Ultra, luckily I found this video.
I just bought mine. I'm tired of lugging around phones that are heavy like bowling balls. This S23 is compact, efficient, attractive and full of brute power.....:)
Wanted this but went for the S21fe because the s23 series in my country 🇿🇦 it costs around 1100 usd for the base version and 2000 for the rest of the s23 series
I am also in SA! 😀 and yes this is an expensive phone, especially compared to other older models that are still available for sure and those are still good
@Thebe Masenya performance is good but battery life is worse it won't last 6hours on continuous video play/gameplay. For mine to survive a whole day I have decided to put it on Battery save mode but with it on saving mode means I can't fully enjoy the phone like Always on display etc. Rather go for S22 ultra...but the back camera is way better than iPhone
Hi, I’m thinking of switching from an iPhone XR and trying something new. 😊 How is the picture and story quality on Instagram? Is it pixelated still or has it been improved and optimized for social media?
I have not noticed any issues with reels and stories on Instagram, so perhaps they fixed it or it might have been a few devices that were faulty at launch
Oh okay, I’m planning on getting the S23 plus in green, my favourite colour. Thank you for finding the time to reply to my comment! It was very helpful haha
@@CJQ19 i m using iPhone too with s23. And there are some things which are incredibly good in s23. Like smoothness. Touch response omg it is so fucking good. The camera's are so good. Front camera colours are abit better on iPhone but s23s photos are sharpers then iPhone. Battery is also good. I m heavy user (except gaming). The only problem is application support. There are some glitches on apps (sometimes) other then that's it's so good. The only major problem is Video call quality in low light. It sucks even worst then my old samsung device(s9+) Overall i m happy with the product.
@@Rade2_2I learned something that helps with finger prints there's this option in the settings type touch sensitivity and turn the option on it helps with it
Depends on how much storage you need. I recently removed a lot of old data and I am using less then that, but you can always buy cloud storage if it is a major problem
i have had a galaxy phone since the galaxy note3, i switched to apple with the 13pro, and now after a year and half or so i thinking of switching back to samsung, but my only hiccup is that 13pro has great battery life. will the s23 be comparable?
I can confirm this as well. Depending on how much you use your phone. Sometimes, after the day, I still sometimes have around 50 to 60% if I didn't use it a lot
That isn't always the case. Sometimes manufacturers reduce the clock speeds on their lower end devices because of cooling and they want the higher end devices to perform better, plus you can get the S23 Ultra in a higher RAM unit, which will improve performance compared to the standard S23
I love my s23 but unfortunately it is still not up to par with the iphone. It's absolutely annoying how hot the phone gets while in android auto. Also lots of bugs and the phone just shuts off once in awhile.still a solid phone tho 8/10
Samsung should, not have removed the camera shell I have the standard s22 And that camera shell makes it look really nice but on the s23 just looks plain and boring but that's just my opinion.
See for me I like the fact that it doesn't have the shell, it for me looks cleaner, but that is personal just as yours is. I am sorry that it isn't looking as great for you anymore and maybe they bring it back next year
That is 100% true. It's like the saying goes, "the best camera, is the one you have" It is a bit vague, but most times you have what you need to make great content
Yeah my mind and mouth were on different places there. I meant to compare the s23 with the s21 at that point, and not the s21+. It was probably because I had the S21+ and spoke about it and then trying to change I got confused
I am fairly sure that is the Samsung Galaxy S3 slim, but if I am wrong I apologize it has been years since I used that device and they tagged that picture as an S3 slim as well.
Still not decided to go with the S23+ or the S23 the plus is just the thing I want but it must be fitted in my pocket so I realy don't know, people here who have experience with that ?😅
I went from an s21+ to the s23 and I have to say I have been enjoying the smaller size for my pocket and just general carry. I had to get use to the smaller screen for typing especially, but I enjoy the smaller size a lot.
Yes, the camera is great. But using the phone and apps leaves a lot to be desired. Notifications numbers on the badges are useless -- hardly ever are correct. I've had my phone about a week and have had to spend 2 - 3 hours per day talking with Samsung tech support to learn to how to use it.
What seems to be the problem? I can look into it. I haven't been getting a camera blurr issue so it could be a setting or something I am not seeing or using
It depends. The jump isn't huge, but they did fix a bunch of issues people had with the S22 especially battery life from what I can see, but it comes down to are you willing to get a new device for slight improvements?
It's been amazing so far... I got the 256gb version and OMG it's super fast! I used to have the s10e and the Iphone 11 pro and the upgrade is real. One UI is super solid. I love everything about this phone. Cannot be happier!
@@Lowangmustang the battery has been good so far..but sometimes I do wish a bigger battery but I'm a heavy user in terms of videos and music. Anyway the phone is still great! Best phone I ever had!
I've seen quite a few reviews of S23 so far since I am interested in buying the phone, but this one still came out quite informative because of the attention to detail more than the attention to just the specs, as well as the professional camera comparison. Well done, you've earned a new subsriber.
its a good device but i would not consider it iconic... the gap with the ultra in terms of price is not that much if you consider the added features you are getting. but we definitely need flagship compacts like this one.
I too have s 23 256 gb. But there is issue with camera that when I click photos, the phone add yellow tone to photos after 5 second by processing images. Especially with 50 Mp camera. Did you face the same issue?
Oh no. i haven't had that issue no. Maybe turn off Scene optimizer and Quality optimizer and see if it still does the same. You can toggle it within the Camera Settings
i have this s23 not the s23fe[fe for Fan Edition] and it is the smartphone I chose to get because for $200 more with better specs along with style design i had to pick it up~ the 23fe looks almost wierd in my opinion- but that is just my opinion.😂
Yeah I got completely confused while recording. I meant to compare the back of the S21 to the S23 to state the difference between them, but thanks for pointing it out here
Thankyou for making a video about the 'standard version'. Every video (and even social media) is talking/promoting the plus or ultra versions, it's really annoying...By the way, I just bought the Galaxy S23 (256 GB) & it's amazing, battery is great too
i have recently switched to the s23 from the s22 because of the battery. also, the trade-in helped me switch. and now, i am hoping this phone will last me a very long time.
Hi thanks for the review. I have the S23 ultra and believe it or not, I'm seriously considering selling it for the vanilla s23. It's just too big and heavy. However, the sound both speakers and on headphones is excellent. Can you tell me (or anyone else out there) how the speakers are on the S23? Not all phones have the same headphone quality and as I listen to music on headphones a lot I'd be interested in your views. Thanks.
I have been enjoying the quality of the S23 when using wireless earbuds and just used them to travel and I didn't have any problems. I am sure your experience will be very similar to that of the S23 Ultra in terms of headphones and it might be slightly worse if at all with the speaker quality
@Jacqie returning back s23 5g. Reason is 1 camera lens is utterly crap unlike s22 series better Battery is mad. So I will be using s21 plus until I find the right time s22 plus
My first phone was S5, my fave actually. But after it damaged, I got another phone, now back to Samsung feels blissful 😂. S23+ is the perfect one for me. Larger display, better battery, good weight, fast, ufs 4.0, 512gb (overkill actually, but it's OK), 4-5 years of update, and sooooo much more. The only thing I miss from my last phone (honor v10) is that Samsung doesn't have an scheduled switch off and switch on, where my phone will switch off and on automatically in it's own. I usually set it during sleep. Auto power off at 9, auto power on at 4.55, alarm rings at 5. Apart from that, everything else is just perfect 👌🏽
I am glad you are liking it. Why were you turning it on and off? If it is just not to be disturbed, then you can always schedule that or there is still under battery settings a setting to turn restart the phone every now and then to clear cache etc to make your phone run better
Switched from S9 after 5 years and i disappointed in picture quality. I got unstable result from all cameras. There is a blur flaw called "Banana effect" in all photos. Really fast and premium phone but i am still waiting a FW update from Samsung to fix this issue .
Coming from the S20 and having an old S8 at home I can only agree with you. I am also wondering how all reviewes agree on the great picture quality, maybe it is only us two with a monday phone ....
@@emilangelov1641 this is marketing. I took my s23 and my Canon R5 camera , went to a vacation. I took hundreds of photos and videos with both device. When I opened the photos in computer I disappointed again. Image quality really sucks compared to my Canon. I took wide angle, telephoto videos in 4k and 8k. Many of them are burry. The bad news is that if you record the videos in Hevc codec it is impossible to play these in windows. You need to convert to H264 mp4 format. Photos taken with phone are looking really good on phone screen but on monitor not good. I hope samsung will fix it.
I bought the samsung s22 a few days ago the samung s22 has a very bad battery life and gets very hot during use , do you advise me to bring the s22 back and get the s23 instead the s23 has a good battery life and does it get hot ??
The S23 battery life is great and I am releasing a video soon on how to get even more out of it. It hasn't gotten hot in my use of it, but it depends where you live and what you do with it
Hello, Purchased S23 1 month before....When i try video mode, there is massive stuttering(frame drop) in video footage. Every video recorded is showing some frame drop especially in panning shots. Why this is happening? Anyone experiencing the same complaint? Please help if you know any remedy.....
Both have their strengths and I wouldn't really say one is better than the other. I feel the images from Samsung are on par with iPhone, but the video from I phone looks more natural, while Samsung over sharpness and adds to much saturation. The battery of the new s23 is amazing and lasts really long, I think it might be more than the iPhone. And then I enjoy media on the S23, some have complained, but I had no problems. Can't speak of the iphone as I haven't used it, but it should be good as well
I went from the 21 ULTRA to the 23 ULTRA. I dont see any difference other than the S-Pen and the new design. Kinda disappointing. 2 generations later and its pretty much the same phone.
@Jacqie it's so ever light 😅 but I do not regret it. The s21 plus heavy with uag monarch case now I got the uag pathfinder. So good. In your opinion is heavy usage ok on S23 5G 128GB
Are the sides of the S23 Graphite matte, while the sides of the others S23 (Phantom Black, cream, lavender) are glossy? I'm asking because I greatly prefer the opaque/matte sides
Using Samsung m51 which has 7000mah since 2 years, Would s23 be a good option with 3900 battery? I need location, 4/5g on, sometimes even hotspot on. I game about 2-3hrs. Will s23 be a good option to last for a day? Or s23 plus is better?
My s23 I get around 5 to 8 hours of screen on time so it should be fine I would say for your 2 to 3 hours of gaming. I also leave my location on and 5g etc, but if you want to be safe the plus should be fine
