Great information Chris. I could have done with this a couple of months ago. We were put off the fidelity JIISA because of the high minimum monthly deposit requirement.

@chrispalmer24 3 года назад
Thanks James, that's interesting! How much did they ask for? It says "as little as £25" which may be false? To be honest, I think with a JS&S ISA Investing in lump sum almost seems better if it's £1.50 per month each time you buy, but then again if it's only 12 x £1.50 I guess it's not the end of the world lol

Fidelity, Vanguard and Hargreaves Lansdown don’t have transaction cost for normal funds (indexed or active). The only pay a transaction fee for making live orders for ETFs or shares e.g. £10 for Fidelity and £10 for HL and on Vanguard you can choose to pay now fees when buying ETFs, you just can’t buy them on the live market. Also Vanguard only has a £100 minimum per fund per month to open the account, once it’s open you can change it to whatever you want. For example i use Vanguard and pay weekly into my account i have 3 funds and spread £75 per week across them. One fund i only pay £5 a week into and it works fine. Just a few things that i think are important when choosing what brokerage firm to use.

I have two little children son and daughter. Should I buy vangurad funds(which funds), s&p , global index fund etc. Can I spend just one off payment into Fidelity and Hargreaves Lansdown or regular saver because they charge £1.50 for regular saver. How much do they charge if I go for one off payment. Please give your best opinion what should I do ? Thanks

Thanks for the video, has really helped clarify my options. £3 a month still sounds like a lot for smaller amounts, I.e starting off with £1k and adding more each month, i.e between 0.9% and 3.6%- do you think the other benefits make it worth the fee? Thanks again.

Thank for spotting this Alexandra, oddly the page when I researched yesterday said £10.95! Seems it's £5.95 on another page, definitely makes HL seem the better option!

@@chrispalmer24 haha no problem at all. I actually have seen the same little error in all other JISA RU-vid videos. I guess it’s due to the layout of fees page on HL, but it has certainly been £5.95 so far for all trades for my daughter. Funds are totally free so this makes monthly safer option very attractive, even when fund entrance is at £100, for HL JISA it’s £25 without any frees.

What is not clear on the ii Option is whether you can open multiple JISA accounts for the one £9.99 fee if you already have an account - I can’t find any detail on this anywhere on line. I wanted to go for Vanguard for my kids but they each have a CTF and Vanguard don’t transfer CTFs and you can’t open a JISA if the child has a CTF ☹️
@chrispalmer24
@chrispalmer24 3 года назад
Hi Paul! I think you should have the option to convert the CTF and the you can transfer the JISA that’s created. May be worth dropping II an email to ask about that. Would be a nice saving if they do.
