Have bought mine in late 2016 as my first entry into the organ world. Fantastic sounds. I wanted to rip off the internals, attach it to 5 octave MIDI keyboard and put it into a wooden chassis, but then I have bought real transistor organ instead. Last year one friend has asked me to play as a guest in his band 3 pieces with organ sounds, so I have grabbed my battery powered reface YC and taken it into a concert. Everybody has been staring at my tiny keyboard instead of "real" VOX and Marshall instruments. xD
Great video! I have all 4 refaces, and I highly recommend any of them if one of them interests you. They are very versatile and work in many situations. They are the perfect traveling keyboards, but they sound good enough that they live in my recording studio.
Everybody who knows anything knows the Yamaha Reface series are total gems. If you could save the CS patches without using an iphone they would've been perfect. I have the DX with the DTronics controller and it's a blast.
Long live the organ! Yeah, probably the only 2 proper reviews were by Uije and Dr. Mix, but then again, there are snobbish keyboard warriors complaining about this or that, and real pros who can play anything and make it sound awesome. Put the snobs for a week in Abbey Road studios with all the gear they love and you'll get nothing, put a passionate and skilled musician (amateur or pro) on a bench with a stick and a cup and you'll get a masterpiece ;)
@@musihada I wanna see that jam too ;) I was referring more to people in comments, forums, etc. rather than reviewers. You always find those who go "Oh mini keys therefore toy", and then you see pros shredding away on those exact same keys.Or, if it's a regular 61-key kb, they would go: "A module would have been better. I already have plenty of keyboards and no more room left". You get the drift.
I have one of these! Absolutely phenomenal instrument. Legit the best sounding fake hammond I've played. The only drawback is obviously the small range
Awesome. I love my Reface YC. I think all of its wave models sound great, and the device is super immediate: turn it on, and go! Unfortunately, it also gave me GAS for a full size YC stage keyboard (which I can in no way justify as I am a terrible keyboard player).
I remember Reface coming out.... and the prices were changing like crazy every week... it ruined the marketing. You know. you collect money, go to the store and boom you need 79.99 more... i remember this like it was yesterday.
Reface series is legendary and keeps popping up. I have the owned the other three at one point or another was thinking I should get so I could say I owned them all. I had a real Hammond organ a101 model.
Great demo. And to me the YC has always been the standout of the series and was the one that I ordered shortly after launch - because it's straight up hard to find even a hardware organ module with that wealth of features at that price, let alone a keyboard.
I did as you said and I went and watched Dorian Concept's "Hide" (CS01 Version) video. I don't understand why some halfway-to-Casio instrumental song would make me sell my gear. I do remember watching some video before by D.C. that seemed clever though. I didn't sell any gear then either. I gave you a thumbs up anyway.
Great video, the only reason I'm not heading straight to eBay to buy one after watching this is because I already have one. I also have the CP. I just wish they had full size keys.
It's not that everyone forgot about the Reface. Yamaha sat on them for too long and released them when the small format Keyboard/synth market was already established and for a price nobody was willing to pay for essentially a one trick pony keyboard. They sold so poorly, Yamaha had to create the YC line to repurpose some of the parts which would've used to make more Reface units.
It was a big mistake with the CP to fail to include a "Mrs Mills" upright piano instead of the useless Toy Piano. They would have sold zillions to Beatles fans, ob-la-duh! [And before anyone comments, the "secret" piano is just another vanilla grand piano 🙄]
a long in depth rambling to make up for your big purchase proud of you homie 😌 edit: you work real hard for your content man so hell yeah get that comm money for more instruments WOOO
