I had to rewind...twice...when you said you got the bread maker for 3$, lol! Just LET me find a Zojirushi appliance for 3$...I'd carry it everywhere and be all, "Guess how much I paid for this? GUESS!!" lol! That was an AWESOME find.
Storage is so important for BULK buying grains, beans, etc. One thing that has been a lifesaver for us during the Pandemic is the Rubbermaid FreshWorks containers for produce like berries, lettuce, etc. They really make them last so much longer. Great vid.
Another fantastic video! I really enjoyed your explanation of why you use each of the tools. A fish spatula is on my list! And I save my Better Than Bouillon jars too! I like their wide mouths. The Costco sized jars of BTB are great too! And, you are looking good! Can't wait for your next update!
Thank you and thank you! I need bigger BTB jars! I use the stuff daily. My friend Jackie from Vegan Yack Attack bought me a Costco membership for Christmas a couple of years ago and I just didn't renew it. I miss the perks and the long shopping excursions and the "How did I spend $250 on nuts and mushrooms?!". Maybe I'll treat myself to another membership this year. I had been planning on Saturday updates, but life has been messy lately, and I was lucky to get this video out when I did. Things are still going. I'm down another 1.5lbs since the last week's check-in. As I mentioned at the end of this video, I want to do a week of daily recipe videos, so I'll make one of those an update video as well.
Thanks so much ~ I loved seeing all your kitchen gadgets and appliances. A lot of work and time went in this video, you did a great job! Debbie in WA Ü
Loved your video! Great ideas to make cooking easier. Just an idea for a show Maybe the spices you use? How long they last..., do they expire fast? It’s something I’ve always wondered. Thank you. Great channel 💙
Hi Michael. I love gadgets. I have quite a few. LOL. I have those silicone lids too. One I use all the time for my sun tea in a pitcher. What a great idea to store lettuce in the fridge in the spinner. I have been debating about getting a bread maker. I will check for a used one. This was a fun video. Thanks. PS, just a tip for cleaning the insides of your pans, I use an all natural clay cleaner. Works beautifully.
Our thrift shops often don't take electrical items as the safety issues are horrendous for the vendor so there are few items like the breadmaker in 2nd hand shops here
Interesting. I get it, though. I always wonder if they actually work, anyway. As far as I know, the ones around me still Cary them. I haven't been to a thrift shop in a month or so, but last time I was there, they were still full of electronics.
Michael. Here's a tip for you that I found online. Take your Mom's pot and spray it down with oven cleaner and then let it sit. Scrub it up and it will look like it's brand new! I'm still debating that lodge pan. I have a similar one in non stick. It's my go to, but I'd rather have cast iron. Linda PS What do you use for "cheese" on your pizzas?
Interesting. I'll have to try that. Eating vegan, I love using just shredded vegan cheeses. The Trader Joe's shredded vegan mozzarella is really good for pizza. In terms of making more WFPB pizzas, I use whole wheat flour to make a crust, and then I usually make a cashew cream that's seasoned with lots of nutritional yeast to add a creamy and cheesy flavored topping. Also, I'm kind of over vegan cheeses at the moment, so I just love lots of veggies, and I think a sauce added just before serving is better than a melted vegan cheese. But that's just me. And that's just how I fell right now. Haha.
I inherited this one because my friend baked my Magic Bullet, and felt bad, so he gave me the NutriBullet that he got for Christmas. I love it. I truly don't use any other blender. Thank you for watching!
Was so excited to see this. After reading and watching since September 2020, going WFPB today. I see its a lot of hard work to keep these videos coming for us. I so appreciate and love them. Learning and inspired every day, MM !
Thank you, Mary! And thank you so much for supporting the channel. It means so much to us. What's that saying about enjoying what you do so that you don't work a day in your life? We have a great time making content, and it just makes us so grateful that we not only get to make a living this way, but that we also get to help people along the way.
Hi Michael, You can also get grey plastic lids for the mason jars on amazon. They might go nicely in your kitchen. I have the white, but I like the grey better and I do also like the wood lids. Also have you seen the mini jars -- really nice for spices. They look like a standard classic regular mouth mason but the size of a tiny spice jar.
I'll have to look into those. The bamboo ones are probably happening in my future at some point, but since I have so many white ones, and they are all working perfectly, there really isn't a reason to "upgrade" right now. Those small jars sounds adorable. I'll have to check those out, too.
But, "its a dry heat". And everywhere you go is heavily air-conditioned. Like, it's insanely hot, but we have the infrastructure to deal with it. Mostly. Haha.
Omg, I have that same bread maker (even though I hardly make bread from scratch anymore), and I remember paying about $200 for that about 15 yrs ago! You certainly lucked out at $3!
I have quite a few of these pieces myself and I agree 100% with your assessment. In particular things like having one good knife rather than an array of instruments few of which you ever use. My key success criterion for the kitchen gadgets and tools is whether I use them. When my husband bought the Nutribullet my first thought was, "we have a good blender, this is just another cupboard space thief." I couldn't have been more wrong. It lives out on the countertop and is first option for blending smaller amounts of stuff. It obliterates cashews for producing cream/milk/cheese and also doubles up as a grinder for the likes of nori seaweed, flax seeds, chia seeds and so on. I am an Instant Pot fanboy, especially for cooking beans, and love my Sage (Breville) Smart IQ oven. My go-to rice cooker is another plastic item :-( It's a microwave cooker made by a company called Sistema. It seems to work way better than it should and produces soft, fluffy, steamed rice every time. We've never had a disaster with it. If you can't afford a dedicated rice cooker, I recommend that, assuming you have a microwave.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! I agree with the NutriBullet. I had the Magic Bullet for years and loved it, but I didn't think the Nutri would be that much different. I was totally wrong. Funny enough, before I bought this rice cooker, I had a microwave one! That was actually my first rice cooker. I worked surprisingly well. I had seen this one around and decided to splurge on it. It's awesome I need a "set it and forget" it machine, and it does the job perfectly. It does take a little longer than you would expect (60 minutes for white rice. 90 minutes for brown.), but the resulting texture is perfect. Restaurant quality for sure.
Great info. It was fun to hear what are your faves. In addition to your lists, maybe included in a bonus or specialized category...I personally would not want to go without my French press (use for coffee and straining plant milks), my coffee grinder (fresh ground makes such a difference), and my breville cafe milk frother. Oh, how are you liking your almond cow?
Thank you. My oat milk video actually has all of my coffee gadgets it in. I love my AC. I actually used it just the other day to make coconut cashew milk for some chia pudding. Truthfully, I don't use that much milk, so the machine didn't make the cut.
What type of popcorn air popper do you have? I have been researching them. Does it pop all the seeds, is it easy to clean? Thank you for the helpful information.
I bought mine for about $20 at Target about 10 years ago. It's like a single-serving one. It's fine. There are sometimes a couple of kernels that aren't fully popped, but I don't mind that. I tried to find the same model and brand on Amazon to give y'all a link, but it doesn't look like the company makes this particular one anymore.
@@MonsonMadeThis I rinsed my jasmine rice according to the Zojirushi instructions and it came out very dry so that is why I was asking...I'll just have to play around with it, I guess.....Oh the Zojirushi was a Christmas present to myself this year so still learning about it.
I love it! I also have one that's more of an oval shape, and two smaller ones that are like halves of the rectangular one in the video. They are just the perfect size for small baked dishes. And you know I love a baked dish!
