I'm really tired of the lack of ports on modern laptops as well. That full size HDMI cable is a nice addition on this laptop; kudos to HP for that. Great video, per usual!
I've just found your channel and I can't thank you enough! You're basically answering all my questions so clearly and giving great tips. I'm a 2nd year Interior Architecture and Design Student from London and I'm so sharing these videos with the other students.
Jesus finally somebody talks abaout pen and drawing ... i search lots of video about pencil sensivity and etc everybody says ''screen nice, sound nice bla bla..'' this laptop is also made for drawing jobs so if somebody making review video she/he has to say something about pencil. Thanks a lot !!
As a student myself (computer science major), I see the firsthand benefits of a 2-in-1 for students (I have one, but don't use the touchscreen quite as much as I've seen others). The one I use has lasted me for around half a decade, being a lower end HP.
Thank you for this video! I’m a architecture student and looking for a laptop. This answered many questions. And yes please, make a video on sketch apps!
Ngl, I found out about your channel through your tech videos and you have a great perspective the tech community on youtube direly needs. Tech youtubers are full of people that their only perspective when using and reviewing technology is from well… making youtube reviews and not from a practical perspective from different industries.
🤣love the intro, thanks for the vid! ive always wanted 2 in 1 laptops but they compromise power :( my fav are the surface studio and this hp 2 in1, and yes do a video about drawing apps that wld be cool too!
Great review, thank you. Would love to see a dedicated video on your use of Sketchup. Been using it for many years and love learning new things from others. Thanks again
I’ve been contemplating on buying a new tablet but completely forgot that my HP x360 can be a drawing tablet! Thanks for reminding me to maximize my stuff
The rear camera - an excellent observation. It might even help scan paper documents and sketch digitally over it. Please do share the sketching videos if you make. Thanks.
LOL I love the joke about the clicky keyboard. Through LTU where I am teaching we are using the HP x 360 z I think it is a couple years old generation. It has a pretty good screen as well.
I am currently using Microsoft book3 . Is also got pen very easy for sketching and take notes . But not sure about the graphic car in comparison with this computer. Personally I found my book 3 can run most smoothly for majority of architecture software expect lumion .
A video testing apps sounds good, but I'm also curious to know about the ones you rely on and like for your work. I can see what you're using in some of the footage here but I'm curious to know what it is.
Loved it. Thanks for going through this. Not too sure about the laptop, but the use cases were fascinating and helpful. You should consider doing ASMR videos - your voice is amazing, and just the tone alone is really engaging - just a thought. I am not sure that the iris XE graphics are as good as a discrete graphics card, but you made the very important point that unless you are doing rendering - you don't need that graphics power - which I thought made much sense. Again - thanks for the video and thanks for the channel - I just subbed as your content, attitude, and approach are fantastic. Wishing you continued and growing success.
👍👍👍Great video! Was looking for reviews of a pen/touch/laptop for architectural work! So you can imagine my surprise to come across a review targeted specifically for me!!! Excellent! Now subscribed!
HI Dami, I would love to see your thoughts on Microsoft's Studio Laptop and if it is works for architects and architecture students. Thanks. Love your videos and insight.
Thank you for the video. I just bought Spectre for my engineering and drafting/modeling. Love this one. Could you please make a sketching software review? Alex F. Vancouver, BC
1 of the ways i test gpu is by running Microsoft flight sim and see what altitudes it can handle in popular locations such as Toronto or LA. My Spectre your perforemed freakishly better than what my friend was telling me lol but I flew with minor sevior frame drops up in the sky and had some frame drops at lower altitudes. This basically stresses the gpu and cpu performance in one shot. and it was smooth enough for me to land and take off. THIS WAS ALL IN THE i5.
What cloud rendering service would you recommend? Looking to the the upcoming 2024 16' model with 32 gb or ram and 4050. Thanks for the real world use case video!
Thanks Dami for a great video. I'm awaiting my referbished Spectre this week. Regarding drawing apps, you'd mentioned reviewing a few of them and I'd like your opinion. On a teacher's salary, always interested in ones that offer great options, for low or no cost. All the best.
Yes please I would like a video for architecture softwares in this laptop , I'm planning to buy it but not sure if it's the right decision for a long term use
I bought the spectre seeing it was high time I replaced my old pc, I have to admit that I have never been so satisfied with a new computer. I'm still getting used to how fancy and fast and smooth everything is, and I still haven't even gotten to drawing with the stylus,(can't rush that) although the reactivity is astonashing. thank you for having gone through that research. looking forward to dong my work now.XD
Hi, i enjoy your perspective on tech related topic and would really like to hear your view on the dual screen laptop from ASUS Zenbook Duo, my dream machine for now.
First, you've given us an outstanding review. Second, you are very articulate l, and your presentation style is excellent. Last, yes, I'd love it if you reviewed some sketching apps. If/when you do that, please feel free to start from the premise that the viewer (me, for example) is a sketching neophyte who would be delighted to be enlightened as to the basics of sketching.
Not bad tech reviewer. ✨🤩 I like the tablet function very much. What’s the maximum paper size in that printer? I tried the HP mouse you reviewed awhile ago but I had to go back to the LogiTech one.
But what is its serendipity rating, and why? And I'd love to know your thoughts on the Microsoft Surface Pro 8; I feel it would be excellent for architects.
To be honest, i miss your videos about real Architecture, they are very interesting. Considering that you love so much Venice, a place you visited twice in a few years, i would have expected a video about the work of Carlo Scarpa, with his shop, the interiors, the faculty of architecture, etc. That would be something unique, also for RU-vid. Personally, I'm not interested in hardware or laptops, not because i don't have to deal with them but cause there are a multitude of hyper specialized channels and content creators that work just on those topics and they are extremely good. On the other side, the only famous channel about Architecture, today, is 30x40 and i truly think that you are able to offer a different and often more interesting experience about Architecture respect the mentioned channel. Please don't stuck on things like laptops or Apple products. If people is more interested in those devices than in good architecture, well they didn't understand the meaning of your work and your goal. Instead, why don't you explain how you created that video in Venice. It's interesting. What about presentations? Different workflows? A description of the most interesting living architects, better if women. Old and new technologies, forgotten Masters, industrial archeology, industrial design and so on. I don't mean to give lessons. I would love to see this nice channel growing so to become the place of the architecture lovers. Thank you.
Heloo, i like this video, nice and detail, but may i ask you something, which one is better for doing your architecture or interior designer using this laptop or macbook pro 16 inch ? Thank you
hi, great video. How do you think this laptop would do with adobe rush? I do a lot of video editing and like the 2-1 tablets. How fast does it render? I usually work on a one-hour video for my church service.
Is an iPad worth it for sketching purposes or is the HP envy better because of its multifunctionality? Now that I've seen your video, I have to go back to the drawing board and figure out which one to buy first
Hi, would you believe it's possible to build 28,000km? & How do we turn the roads from both Alaska/Chile n Capetown/Alaska into architectures next big marvel...
I’m Majoring in architecture fall 2022. I use MacBook Air 13inch without the mouse. But do you think it’s necessary for me to buy tablet for architect. Or is one digital device that is non touchscreen is enough? What are your thoughts?
i think that tablet is not necessary, but it would ease some work. sketching and making notes is easier on tablet, tablet is also more convenient to carry around. however, macbook air is quite small and can function in the same way. if i were you, i would save some money to buy a really good laptop(prefers not apple).
Have you ever tried the samsung galaxy tab s8 ultra? it lacks ports, but seems like it could handle a lot of the other stuff you've mentioned wanting to be able to do
Hey Dami! Whats your opinions on building a power pc to do rendering and other architectural works for architecture students? I am architecture student, and i am debating on whether to build a PC for myself or not. Great video!
Desktop pcs are always the best for rendering, I built me one in late 2020, but now I'll considering getting a laptop, which doesn't have to be as powerful, since I'll still have my pc for rendering, but I can use the laptop in class and at the architecture firm I'm interning at, plus my country has blackouts so a laptop would help a lot in those situations, the multifunctionality of a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet seems like it could be of a lot of extra utility though, it would have helped a lot if I had it in first and second year.
Uhmmm…liked the video. Not crazy about HP Printers anymore. I was doing the Auto Re-Order with a HP Printer up until recently. I got SO frustrated with their inability to support or problem solve their own printer, I canceled and bought an Epson! I didn’t want to do it…but they truly left me no choices. Engineers have to use a lot of the same techniques when working off site or in the field. And it is true, there really aren’t great options to replace tablets in the field. I use tablet mode a lot as well…just not on an HP. But my next upgrade, I might need to give this one a look…the screen size is awesome. Great “tech” video…maybe a different color cap?….hahahaha thanks Dami.
In my own experience with 2in1 laptops, I did not find this workflow to be effective. I've used Surface Book for quite a while but ended up not using it as a sketching tablet. My recommendation: get an iPad or any tablet for sketching
Coming from the opposite way. Had an ipad and laptop for architecture, but it's definitely like the dongle situation as Dami illustrated. Having two separate and expensive machines, worrying about which one to take on trips, in the office, and at home is a complete faff. You need to be able to quickly screenshot a photo, a drawing on CAD etc, then sketch directly on it, cut, then paste directly into an email to send to a client or contractor (you don;t even need to save the sketched screenshot (in Windows). This can be done in seconds on a 2-in-1. It's much more involved and time consuming on 2 separate devices.
I dont like the softened up diamond edges. feel a bit balloony and toyish compared to the sharper one. Personally dont feel the edge on mine so not sure whyd they evolve such a signature design cue that direction
This laptop cannot handle Revit. After watching this video I purchased it and it is the worst decision I have ever made. It is constantly freezing when using Revit and it takes forever to save files or open families. The hp tech tried to tell me to open Revit as an administrator to use it to the fullest, but other laptops do not require me to do this. I am an architect and had mine custom made with the best possible specification that can handle Autodesk products, so one can only imagine my disappointment when it takes this thing over a minute to save a file and every 3 months I have to be on the phone with hp tech support. Maybe I got a bad one, but there are other videos out there that suggest buying a real laptop and not a hybrid if one is looking for a high performance machine. The fact that it turns into a tablet is a nice feature, but is it worth the lack of performance and constant tech support calls?
Is this laptop good for me going into architecture school? The specs I need are intel core i7 or higher, 16 GB RAM or higher l, and 512 GB RAM or higher.
Dami was given a near base spec. I'm looking at the i7 version, RTX 3050 graphics card, 32gb ram, 1TB hard disk, also 4K Oled!!! 😀 That's the maxxed out version though!
Why do you introduce yourself as a licence architect ? No need to do this rather than you can say Architect it's sound more professional and powerful. Only Architect.
