The Best League starter to Make Currency Early 

I am planning to make a refined guide and will make video updates based on patch note changes but wont see those until the 21st.

I read the thumbnail 3 times, and each time I read it as Monkey King returns.

if i get to maps in 5 hours and run 2 sanctums .. yeh thats the key point. If i wake up at normal times 6 hours will already be gone, add on another 6-8 hours for the campaign at my speed and most of those early deals are gone. but energy blade was a fun build last league, so at least on that part i can fully agree on :)

I followed in your footsteps in Affliction, and ran storm brand in sanctum, got a lot of currency and got a lot better at sanctum. I enjoy it, but it certainly can be frustrating sometimes, thinking here about just awful choices over and over where you will miss out on divs or might even brick the run. With flasks being such a big part of the ivory tower+eblade build I had to pick random afflictions sometimes and of course I got the lose res or insp on flask use right away or maybe 2 rooms later. But I got more than a div on average per run and runs become faster and faster as gear improves and knowledge of the rooms improves. I'm not a speedrunner, so not talking about 5 mins for all floors, but 2-3 per hour was pretty normal. The bubblegum currency piling up was really nice too. Never had over 1000 vaal or regret orbs in a league before and I was corrupting things all over the place, also was swimming in GCPs and regals, which was a nice change of pace for me when it came to crafting my clusters especially. I was thinking trying something different, but in the back of my mind there is that voice that is nudging me towards running a few days of sanctums with SRS this time, just to get that base currency in the stash, so I don't have to worry about simple choices like which gems can I flip.

might need a guide on sanctums and relics also when to transition into high tier sanctums and more vendor option+reduced cost on merchants. Or are we just going to run low tier sanctums like up to 76ilvl for few divines?

Played Stormblast Energy Blade Imquis last league. Took my time,.some of the approaches to the build after a few days when I checked back in were very similar to the ones you came up with. Others not so much, I scrapped my O'Dea and went with what I found to be most efficient. But all in all this was an INCREDIBLY good character. Ide guess it was one of my top 3 builds of all time all around. Such a fun build. But I'm looking for something new and challenging this league. I may try SSF Hardcore, or just SSF? Hard-core trade, idk. Somthing other then just trade.

What do you recommend for hc? This build too? What tiers of sanctum shouæd we run? What relics to go for?

We still got a week till the anouncement but i would be carefull about Sactrum. In Necropolis teaser we saw Katarina and Herald of scourge so im expecting some changes on these 2. Same goes for Jun farmers, we know they gonna change some stuffs but not sure on what they are changing, except that Katarina is going to me in map form from now on.

thanks lance! I have also tested sanctum with a league stater budget with only 200-300c investment this league. What I found is that if you want to prevent the final boss's red lightning floor skill, you have to kill her in less than 6s, sometimes 8-12s is also right but best less than 6s. And its life pool under only lvl74 tome i tested out is more than 35m, which is an amazing number. That means you would beat T16 boss(which mostly only 10m life) much easier than a lvl74 sactum boss.

Hey Lance, I followed your guide last season went great. Here's the thing: I suck. I can't dodge Lycia's final phase red wave. I didn't have enough dmg even with this build early league to burst her in ilvl 82 sanctums. What's the lowest tier sanctum I can do to still get some divines so I can burst her before the red wave phase?

Its a good strat, even if you dont get divines, the chaos drops are very valuable early in the league. I would only wonder how much tomes would cost this early as well?

Where can we get an alt quality storm brand at the start, grind lab lvl 1?

Sanctum could be good, but in my opinion the forbidden tomes don't drop often enough to keep those runs going. So early league I prefer to stick to expedition with atlas specked on it. But maybe a combination of expedition and sanctum runs could be worthwhile.

Well if I liked sucktum I would do it, same with heist both are cringe and its not worth the profits for me atleast, but tbh I'm not a day one uber bosses and full atlas blaster so I don't need to worry about day one profits.

So much people in the comments hate running sanctums. I guess they never did it right because it's one of the smoothest chillest and rewarding content you can find. Affliction league might have made everyone a little dumber and it's more about people who say it was best league. Thank god they are not letting it to go core, broken econony on week 2 is not a good experience.

0:33 First day of Affliction I dropped a mirror in a random ass alch-n-go low tier map, was painful not being able to liquify it for a while but can't really complain :D

sanctum is so badly balanced that it might be the push i needed to go ssf. It was obviously overshadowed by wisp farming last league but only ~2 weeks in. They could cut literally half the rewards and it would still be insane profit.

This is with the assumption that the new transfigured brand skills don't get nerfed to the ground.... which we know is very likely.

How do we get high level sanctums if our build is weak at mapping though ?

Sanctum was supposed to be king but got dethroned by affliction league.

i mean u kinda have to be good at sanctum and play a good build thats kinda just made for sanctum and even than the odds of you failing runns is kinda high if ur not super pro at sanctum. also it really depends on the time zone and how fast u do the campain, i mean if it took me 5h till maps on leaguestart i wouldend have any focus left and its like 2-3in the morning already, id prolly fail every run then doing it on some shit gear etc. i think most ppl are better off doing somehting easy and failproof like heist+chaos reciepe and you can start doing that on like act7 or something like that u dont even need 3. lab or kitava und can just start printing money with 3/4 campain done and honestly if u just lvl+heist on day1 and day2 your kinda rich. would be interesting to see two tryhard players of the same skill lvl do this two different approaches and how big the difference would be. id say sanctum is for sure better on the higher end of skill etc but for most ppl id even say they gonna make more heisting.

Lance has run more sanctums than most. If you haven’t run much sanctum, you should practice before league start or you might have a bad experience.

In the time it takes you to do 1 sanctum, a heist runner will complete 20 blueprints (that's at the heister's league start speed, the ratio will obviously grow later). There is a slight chance you'll come ahead if you are very lucky and he isn't, but I wouldn't bet on it. And on average he will definitely make more. After all, on top of the currencies, blueprints yield tons of good 6-links, gcp, important uniques - stuff that is very valuable at league start.

I ran 15 lvl 83 Sanctums last league. Dropped 1 divine between them. Certainly an outlier and terrible RNG, but it definitely turned me off of running it ever again.

You know what else "triples the damage of this skill alone" for spell builds and doesn't require you to dedicate ascendance point + support gem for it? Annihilating light. TBH any other softcore trade spell-based league starters that don't rely on it look like meme / self-imposed handicap nowadays. Downside is even more of a joke if we're talking about low-level sanctums.
