Definitely heavily invested in the M12 stuff. I do residential maintenance and 90% of my work is plumbing. The Surge is great, and the M12 Fuel oscillating tool really surprised me, I have the brushed M18 and the M12 Fuel cuts probably twice as fast.
That Bahco wrench is in my plumbing kit too! My previous go-to was a 10" Utica, but after using the Bahco I have a new favorite. Also, that jam bar, after seeing it here, I'm getting one and adding it to my drywall kit for pulling while unscrewing the screws that missed the stud with the screw gun.
I would definitely add a stout putty knife for scraping glue around old toilets and around faucets and removing old wax rings. I like your bag it's definitely packed with essentials. However, I tend to need a hammer a lot that's why I prefer to bring in my bucket rather than a small kit. I tried to limit what I bring but I always end up going back to the van.
Yea I know how that goes. This pouch works great for me for all those little plumbing jobs that I do a lot. I’ve found I almost never have to go back to the truck if I have all the parts I need with me. And I definitely have a putty knife I use for toilet wax and stuff, but I keep it wrapped in a rag in a tool box so it doesn’t touch my other tools 😂 that thing is nasty
@@rogerice3826 I never liked the painter scrappers. I carry a stout 3 inch putty knife to chisel hard stuff and a two inch putty knife that is flexible and sharp. These two putty knives have certain abilities that I find are better than the painters scrapper. If it fits you I think that's awesome but it isn't for me.
@qzetu It's just that the Purdy tool is so versatile, being able to do things that a putty knife will never be able to do. It has edges you can pull as well as being a "pushed" tool You mention chiseling out hard stuff, the Purdy has reinforced head that you can actually hammer on, most putty knives, you hit them with a hammer, and that's the end of their plastic handle. The painters tool has the flat on one side that can be used for opening paint or glazing putty cans, which can also be hooked under things like wax rings to pull them off. Then, you have the pointed side, which you can slide under caulked corners to pull the old caulk out. That pointy end is also wicked good at pulling staples. I have to wonder if your experience is with lower quality painters tools. The Purdy is a cut above.
@@rogerice3826I am a full time handyman who runs my own businesses. I have hundreds of expensive tools. I have purdy tools as well. The 6 & 1 does not have the edge I prefer. It is too thick. Sometimes I have to chisel old caulking that turns hard, or chisel out some grout, etc. A thinner, sharp and wider putty knife does a better job. That's why I have a specific type of putty knife. Further, something I need a putty knife that is flexible and thin to caulk holes or do some drywall work that is in a tight area. I've learned over the years what works and what doesn't. If you're just a painter I suppose the 6 & 1 is ideal but when you're doing everything, it has limits.
I have a five-gallon bucket with a tool bag in it and a small tool box loaded with plumbing tools and supplies they both weigh a ton. I also have 5-gallon bucket and tool box full of electrical equipment. Then I have one full of carpentry tools. Then I have just a miscellaneous one with extra tools in it. I do everything from automotive to everything house and appliances repair replace and remodel.
Like to use a rectangular plastic basin (the type you soak your feet in), head lamp, foam kneeling mat, Ridgid EZ Change Faucet Tool, teflon tape, plumbers putty & putty knife, Telescoping basin wrench, shower valve stem wrench set, caulk gun, and knipex cobras & pliers wrench (so you don't mar the finish).
That Ridgid stop wrench tool is designed for the handle to fit into a 3/8" outlet to backup the valve while tightening the compression nut. Have you checked out the Milwaukee zipper bags? They have a nice wide floor so you can get more tools in them and they stand up. Good design
I don’t know how you get away without a basin wrench for plumbing And ratcheting wrenches are where it’s at for toilet floor bolts A small tube of Vaseline. If I put a gasket or O ring in plumbing it gets some Working on RVs is all pex so a battery rotary tool to cut the crimps and a torch to heat pipe and get old fittings apart I like the m12 lights. Milwaukee has the true view ones on their usb battery platform that put off a nice light that really helps the old eyes Really like my Neebo lights too It won’t fit in your bag but once you start using a kneeling (gardening) pad you will hate when you don’t grab it. Get a couple good squishy ones . Put one on that sharp cabinet corner your back scrapes on when standing on your head under the sink. Most plumbing is done laying down or kneeling. I grab 2 and make most plumbing jobs easier on the body and keeps you drier sometimes
Yea I need to get me a kneeling pad or two. I always find myself wishing I had one when I’m kneeling under a sink or something. And I did get a basin wrench recently! A sweet craftsman USA one!
I keep the basin wrench in a different spot because I really don’t need it that often and it doesn’t fit in the pouch. I do have plenty of scrapers, but the one I use for wax rings and stuff gets wrapped in plastic and stored separately too because that thing is nasty lol
If I do something that is worth making a video about, I will. I haven’t done a ton so far in there. I always struggle with how to shoot stuff when I’m not in my shop lol. I should be able to get some videos out of it though.
Might I suggest a Klein demolition screwdriver for something to beat on that will fit in your pouch. I'm a fan of demo drivers and always carry one. Though, I prefer a longer one than the Klein. I carry Estwings in my main kit. I think they would be too long for your pouch, though.
I love a demo screwdriver. I use the plastic handle flat heads for that and they are nice and light for that pouch, but I love the striking cap ones too. I have a couple wera ones and the dewalt ones. The dewalts are my favorite.
@Real World Tool Reviews I have the Dewalts in my bag too! I have the Estwings in my tool box, they are tri-lobed with a rubberized grip, like Carlyle screwdrivers.
Just watched your other video, and can see you tool kit has grown bit....in the comments on that one I mention a small compact LED head torch, plus one of the small rechargable COB work lights...they are about a third of the size of that rechargable but given nice spread of light...I always carry two lights as when you are working under a crowded sink with one light you always end up with shadows but two light sources will minimize those... With regards that little pouch, I think you are right at the point where it's becoming no longer practical...I would highly recommend a small open top tote, a 10" or 12" would be ideal. Not only would it carry your basic tools, but also one or two 12v power tools and perhaps a few fittings or what ever you needed for the job at hand...Toughbuilt do some really nice totes, although they might be a bit bigger than you would like...
I have many open top tool totes, and I have been using them for years, but this pouch just works better for me. If I’m doing a big plumbing job I’ll throw that blue pouch in a tool bag and put the other stuff I need with it, but that little blue pouch works great for minor repairs, and I rarely need to grab anything else. My problem with open top totes is I just can’t help but fill them up too much. The pouch keeps me from doing that and works great just as a grab and go type thing. It’s not for everybody, but it works for my weird brain lol.
