I'm sorry, I have a bad habit of doing this! I haven't been very inspired by Disney recently, with the parks still being close and all of the layoffs and whatnot. I'll be back sooner or later (hopefully sooner)! And I'm currently very active on me and Aurora's other channel Peachyo!

I have visited Disneyland 100’s of times. My first visit was when I was 3 years old...I will be 63 in June. I was a passport holder, then also worked there for 6 years {1999 to 2005) and recently, summer 2019. I went many times a year once I reached 21. As a child, I vividly remember all of these attractions. My favorite of the group was the Peoplemover. When I was a kid, they sold ticket books (10 and 15 tickets). However, the Carrousel of Progress, America the Beautiful, and Adventure Thru Inner Space did not require a ticket for a child. The Mine Train was nice and relaxing, but, during the summer (which is when we were usually there), it was hot sitting in the train cars. The caverns were beautiful and it was air conditioned. Thank you for presenting these.

Wow, great video! Thanks for the memories. I almost forgot what it was like to be a kid. I remember all of those rides, and they were all great. I remember other things like the Tiki Tiki room and Bear Country Jamboree. I still have a partial booklet of tickets, including the valuable "E" ticket. Funny story, I remember when I was about six or seven, (ca. 1974) we were waiting to get on a ride and I was begging my Dad to let me hold my own ticket, the E ticket. He finally gave in, it was like holding my very own bar of gold. The next thing I knew I dropped it. In a water feature. Oops. Needless to say that was the last time I held my own ticket for many years to come! Lol I was fortunate enough to have family down there. My grandparents lived just across the street, literally within walking distance at the time. So close in fact we would walk to the corner bus stop and watch the fireworks display at night. We were members of the Magic Kingdom Club so every year on the park's anniversary the entire family would gather to go. Then on Mickey's birthday and a few times every summer with just the grandparents and cousins. Turned out my future husband's grandparents lived across the street on the other side of the park so he was there often as well. We used to joke that was clear evidence we were meant to be. The last time we went was 2002 when my daughter was just three. We were dismayed at the crowds and a lot of changes so we just didnt feel it much after that (sorry). I guess when you experience some greatness in the heydays it carries with it a certain irreplaceable magic. Im grateful for it all. Sorry for the long post and thanks again.

Great video!! Of these 5, the one I remember most is Inner Space. As a kid, that little tube with the miniature vehicles and people really freaked me out. Even though it looks cheesy now, I seriously thought we were getting shrunk down to atom size! Of course....I was only about 5 years old:). No wonder my kids never wanted to ride Tower of Terror when they were little!

One ride that was awesome but went defunct is Rocket Rods. It was what replaced people mover. The structure originally designed for the PeopleMover was not suitable for the much greater speed and weight of the Rocket Rods ride vehicles, which caused the structure to weaken. The constant changes of speed in the ride often caused malfunctions, resulting in frequent closures of the ride and was one of the main reasons why the attraction permanently closed.

Adventure Thru Inner Space And Mine Train through Nature’s Wonderland are two of the greatest losses, but in particular, as someone who grew up riding Adventure Thru Inner Space in the 1970’s and 80’s right up until it closed, I miss ATIS the most. It is my all time favorite extinct (sadly) Disneyland attraction.

Well, its like in Roller Coaster Tycoon, Planet Coaster or all the other theme park games: If you build a transportation attraction like a monorail, train or something like this, always have at least two stations to give the people the chance to move faster from one side of the part to the other or back.

Imagine the Haunted Mansion without sound. The part that made 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea so cool was menacing pipe organ and James Mason Narration of underwater sea life and the discovery of Atlantis. I see though how it did not age well. As child my nose always pressed to the porthole and it was cold on a hot summers day. You should check out the on board soundtrack. Thanks for posting Disneylander!

The Mine Train is definitely the attraction i wished I got a chance to experience (born in 1980), even though there's an homage to Rainbow Caverns in BTMRR, I thought with the big renovations that happened to the Disneyland RR for the building of Galaxy's Edge, it would have been the perfect time to rebuild Rainbow Caverns as a Disneyland RR scene. Lost opportunity IMO. For the ones on the list I did get to experience: as a kid I called the People Mover the "Tron Ride", because of the Tron tunnel portion. Lots of great memories of the original Submarine Voyage, but the one that stands out the most was riding it with friends my junior year if high school, New Years Eve, 1997. We thought we were hilarious and unique singing "Yellow Submarine" when the ride started. Had no idea it would be my last time ever riding it since in closed in '98.

Going through the Matterhorn was super fun. I wish they would have more educational stuff. Disneyland taught me about gravity and showed me what I would weigh on Mars. Tom Sawyer's Island used to have these fun rocks kids could run around on. One of them moved so you could have people on it and it would move a little like a see saw. Obviously they got rid of it and that was a sad day for me. Kid probably got hurt. Anyway. Pretty sure I saw that same rock during the Mine Train footage.

I was born in '74, and from 3 months old, until about 16 years old, we went to Disneyland every summer. I distinctly remember being on every ride, except for Nature's Wonderland. I know I was on it, but the memories of it are pretty vague. Sadly, my Disneyland really only lives on RU-vid now. We will never see original themed rides like these again. All going forward is IP. I still love going to Disneyland, but I go more for what it was, than what it is.

I 100% agree about slow paced rides, I wish there was more of them. I love just chilling out on the Disneyland Railroad and taking in the sights, especially the amazing part where you go behind Tom Sawyer Island and it’s almost like you totally forget there’s a theme park on the other side. Thrill rides are great but I love the feeling of just being in Disneyland, taking it slow and soaking in the atmosphere. Can you imagine living in that magical time when the monorail, skyway and peoplemover were all open at the same time? So many cozy rides, all close to each other and almost interconnected. It would’ve been amazing to just look up at and appreciate all these people moving around the sky.

Thank you for time traveling back with all the nostalgia of the original and CLASSIC rides that will never be ridden again! Im just glad that I had my share of most the rides mentioned here of getting to ride them several hundred times in my lifetime. I will hold to the fact that Disney had made some extremely bad decisions in getting rid of these rides. The original Disney Magic has been fleeted away with these rides! I know Disneyland will always be changing and moving forward BUT I cant help but to imagine if these rides were still open today with millions of new people and new generations getting to able to experience them! I really do wish they would bring back ATIS but in a new updated form! Just keep the simulators from star tours and change those into the new ATOM MOBILES! But alas I really do thank you Disneylander for making this video in honor of the forever lost Disneyland attractions that deserves the attention and admiration! I miss them dearly!!
@Disneylander
@Disneylander 4 года назад
Thank you very much! It's definitely sad to look back on the wonderful rides that Disneyland has lost, and admittedly many of those rides have been replaced with something worse, but I still ultimately believe change is the best for Disneyland!

As said others here, I’ve had the privilege (and old age) to ride all of these rides lots of times. I still miss the Mine Train and remember when they added the new expansion to the ride into the Beaver Valley. I rode the stage coach and the saddled ride (but don’t remember whether they were mules or horses. also miss the Skyway ride. I am in the vast group of fans who believe that it was removed because of deviants spitting and dumping things on the people below, but the unpatched Matterhorn did look a bit like a KKK hood. I was depressed to see the old Submarine Ride replaced with the corny new ride and was thrilled when I got to ride the one at DisneyWorld that first year it opened because those subs looked like the ones from the movie. I also miss the hovercraft In Tomorrow Land. I just now found your thread here and have subscribed. . . Thanx!

A few critiques here: I had the pleasure of riding the submarine ride in both iterations. The finding nemo submarine voyage was just as good as the original. The use of the projections under the water was rather amazing. However, I do miss the sea serpent scene that goes along the submarine. The skybuckets were an awesome ride to just sit for 5 minutes. I agree, I do miss them. BUT I think the other more pressing issue with the ride was non compliance with the ADA laws. The buckets would have needed to be modified to carry wheel chairs and I don't think it would have been possible. As a kid it was nice to go from one end of the park to the other without walking a large distance. It really did cut down the walking time, and as a 4-5 year old going from the Space mountain area of Tommorrowland to the far corner of Fantasyland near the Casey junior train is a very long walk that the Skybuckets could do efficiently, The people mover is also a great attraction and one I miss. But it also had its share of issues. The reason the Magic Kindgom's ride still runs today is due to the drive system they use. They use I think LIM motors to move the cars. Where as the Disneyland ride had used, not kidding, tires. The vehicles were propelled down the track using tires that were evenly spaced. The ride would close or shut down if one of those drive tires stopped working etc... I had the pleasure of being stuck in the space mountain tunnel when the ride had broken. We had evacuate through fire stairs and evacuation stairs through space mountain and then back into the area near starcade. The peoplemover had a wonderful ride length and as a parent now that sitting time of 15 minutes is needed. Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of the other 2 rides and would love to have ridden them.
