READ THIS BEFORE YOU WATCH THE VIDEO AND POST A SILLY COMMENT. If you want to know the PRICE of each drone or the SPECS of each drone, you have to watch the DETAILED REVIEW of the drone which can be found in the Links below this video.
@@MrSW-rt4ts There are motors with brushes in them. These are the older style. The new one or better ones are brushs. Brushs were a major wear part of the motor. The brushs would wear out before the motor. So brushless motors are much much better. I would have to write a book to explain what brushs do. Just always get brushless motors. They are better.
For any Newbees, Listen and Learn from Capt. and Advice. You will be ahead and glad you did.. I didn't and now regret, I should have followed the info facts and experience Capt Drone has shared. He's spot on.. The say you learn by your mistakes.. Remember when someone gave you good advice but you didn't follow it.. Afterwards, wish you had.. Thanks Capt Drone. Great Job
I still like where I started at about $30 with a Syma drone. Very manual. Made me appreciate GPS drones. Yes, I had to endure a few head bowed moments as it ended on a roof, not even mine. But that is a toy. Next I started with a Bugs 5W. 1st GPS drone for me and I fell in love. Then DJI got all my money. Your videos are the best!!!
(Note: I read the description, as well as the comment made after posting.) I like the video, but I think it would have been a bit more beneficial if you could have focused on two or three "best of the best" beginner drones, and explained the pro's and con's of each. I get that you have detailed videos of each drone, and you wanted to give a wide selection, but for an overview video, I think it would have been more helpful to give a "glimpse" at some of the main contenders, with nods to some of the runners up. It's a bit daunting to see the amount of videos that are listed in the description. Just my opinion on the matter. I'm sure you have good reason for doing things the way you did them; just something to consider. I hope it didn't sound like I was being too negative. I really do appreciate the effort that you've put into this.
I’m a beginner and I can tell you EXACTLY what a person is looking for. Simply an easy to fly drone with a dedicated FPV headset that doesn’t need your phone, and it gives good video and can fly 2 or three miles and last out to get back. Simple as that.
@@Gojirasu "Simple as that." Nope, you missed the primary consideration of most beginners. Cost. And when you put a $200 cap on the cost, then there aren't any which have a headset that doesn't need your phone. That headset with no phone requirement puts a $1,000 minimum price tag on it, that's just because of the cost of the headset, I have no idea if they even make them for drones. Anyway, it's never simple, that was my point. :)
Perfect! I can’t help thinking that I must have been one of those emailers soliciting your advise, and you were very kind to have responded. Many thanks for this great video!
Hey Captain! I looked at your video and a couple others but went with your recommendation and bought the sjrc z5 as my first drone. I crashed it 3 times in my backyard two days ago but took to the park today to hone my drone skills. Wow this is the best thing ever. I will upgrade some day once I get the hang but for now I'm just saying thanks for your awesome recommendation. Wish I had this when i visited Lake Louise last November.
@@smellyermaw4209 Try this amzn.to/2WCnLkV it's kinda fun to use for beginners though. You can always visit the amazon if you want different cheaper ones.
@@billyliburdi2147 For me it is good for a budget drone, the video quality is like around 480p to 740p and smooth to pilot, it's still depends on you if you looking for a perfect quality drone you really gotta need to buy the 200$ and up drone like said in the video. Edit: If you want a sample video of it check this out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2d2qJ_w5wUc.html
I love how he explains each drone I just recently received my z5 drone and before I purchase it I made sure it got a good review from the captain sjrc z5..
I have a X5 EPIK and bought it on GearBest based on your YT review. Its great drone for the money spent. :) Now my neighbor wants to buy a similar one and this is a great video. Thanks for your great work!
Captain sir, just watched your year old video. Thank you, did some research on myself and ordered a H.S. 700 recently. Your video backed up my selection...
Hey - I need a good quality drone for my son who is 5. I don't want super cheap and I def don't want to spend over a few hundred to wave good bye at when he crashes it. There is one right now on sale at Walmart for black friday. Is this one going to be good for him or should I spend a little more? ( Drone maker and model - Snaptain S5c - 720 p )
Another great video. The economy ones I call them are fun. I have several but soon our appetite becomes bigger and before we know it we are flying bigger and better. I started out with a KK 2 board and a X frame plastic wonder. After loosing a couple quads I soon learned how nice GPS was. Some of my old quads still litter my walls and I think of how much I spent on motors ,flight boards and radios and look at these $200 wonders and almost cry. My wife said I should have took up knitting. But in my later 60s I still love flying most anything. Cause fun is what its all about.
This video has the best tactic for more views I’ve ever seen. A video with more links to other videos then information from the video itself, definitely gonna use that trick one day
I'd have to say the best beginner is Eachine E014 Windmill. Perfect for indoors, to learn and have something on those rainy days. Light, protected props, good FPV camera(720P), optical flow, and tons of app abilities. It's fast and stable. Light, so only outside on calm days. You might have to wait for a sale($20 shipped) but even at $35 it's well worth it. I've put it through quite a few tumbles and it still works great. 300mah built in battery charges in half an hour and runs for 5+ minutes with the optical flow turned off and recording to phone.
for Canadians that are watching this, most of the drones listed on here need to be licensed, most are over 250 grams except for the SJRC Z5. Nice video
Great review. Good format: discuss each one, briefly highlight the good and the bad, mention the approximate price range. I’ll need one more video to explain the basic features to look for, which ones are essential for certain kinds of drone work, and which ones are “nice to haves, and very cool, but rarely needed or used.” Very good. Thanks for sharing.
I lost my mind with the cereal box comment.... hahahahaha Most people watching this video have never had the joy of digging to the bottom of a cereal box for the "prize". ;-) Loved it!
Bought the BUGS B4W because of this video. Flew it for the first time today. Used auto launch and it floats in the exact same spot for the 5-6 min I spent studying all of the display features and options. Then I sent her up 400 ft did video and a couple still shots. Then at that height I traveled maybe 1/4 mile away. Hit return to home and it came back and landed exactly on the 18”x18” pad I used. I’m so happy! One important hint. Make sure you set the height for Return to home so that it’s sure to be higher than the tallest object near you. Trees, towers, poles, and buildings. It’s sure to arrive home safe.
Enjoy your drone passion as seen in your reviews. I’m new to drone flying and hope to use a drone with my beehives. The ability to get a closeup view of trees should prove useful in finding the best location. No MJX MEW4-1 listed yet. Why pay $1,500 when a $300 drone will work just as well? What happens when you lose or crash your $1,500 drone? (my rant)
Well, most any time you buy a very expensive drone you get full crash warrantly for like 2 years, so theres that, but I do totally understand where youre coming from. Thats why i bought the mavic mini cause you get crash warranty and under $400
I can vouch for the JJRC X7. Fantastic drone for my son to muck around with. Stable, well built, long flight time, flight modes and some good camera vid/shots (nowhere near DJI quality though).
Hi, I just thought I'd stop watching your video for a moment to get on my phone and add a comment. You know I'm just realizing after months of viewing RU-vid on my Smart TV that you guys may not be as aware of my type of person as you may want to be. I watch RU-vid on my Smart TV not my phone and you can't really see the links. Now if I was at the point where I wanted to buy a drone I definitely take the time to log on to my phone and go through your link. I think what you guys do is tremendous sharing your knowledge and you deserve the support that clicking on links may give you. I'm simply viewing videos to try to learn about amateur and entry level drones and what their average price range may be are part of the statistics that I'm interested in. But you don't really talk about that much when you're going through, so usually as a person who watches RU-vid on smart TV I would just skip your video and move on to the next one. This time I'm simply leaving a comment to let you know what kind of you or I am and I fully intend to like your video and possibly even subscribe. But as a person who mainly watches RU-vid on Smart TV I would be interested in you talking about price points more, or price averages. I just thought I'd let you know instead of just clicking to the next video. Thank you kindly
ANY potential new drone owners - please listen to Cap'n Steve here - his summary is accurate and honest - you won't go far wrong listening to his advice (I've been flying many, many different drones for nearly 8 years now!)..... Personally I must currently recommend the Parrot Anafi - just an amazing and top value for money all round drone which I know Cap'n Steve approves of ..... unfortunately it is a little more expensive than some of the great starter Drones Cap'n Steve has recommended here - so in conclusion I guess - 'you pays yr money - you takes yr chance!' 😁😍💲💲✔✔ Great video Cap'n - thanks!
Okay Cap. Made a decision putting order in this evening. Winner is the HS700, hopefully this will put a cool new angle on the dangle for my channel and I’ll grow a little more. Thanks again Cap, I’ll be in touch. 👍🏻
@@GTARC_au Yeah thanks, I bought the mjx bugs 5w on amazon. Got to wait still like 2 weeks before I get him. Got the drone for 130,57 euro, a backpack for 25 euro, and 2 battery's with 2 chargers for 43 euro. So totaly 200 euro. Not bad for the price :).
@@GTARC_au We all already know it is one of the best under $200. I am happy that is was such cheap on amazon.de. Because If I purchase it on gearbest or another Chinese site. I had to pay tax and it would be much more.
RU-vid is so full of bullshit content. Why would you want to share a video with phrases like "Let me just put this closer to the camera so you can see it.". Just edit this crap out... Plan what you want to film beforehand. This is so ubelievably sloppy for someone who wants to be taken seriously.
@@theultimatesuhak It's probably just a matter of editing convenience to leave that in, resulting in fewer cuts. I'd consider reviews based on actual experience more important than the quality of the video editing.
Get the holy stone for around $240-$280.It's the drone Im Going to purchase one in about 2 or 3 weeks.i liked the performances in the videos I've watched on it.👍
Wish I had seen this. Bought a drone. Opened it up and it promptly took off and headed full speed into an oak tree, smashing its gears and never flying again. I tried to push land 20 times and it did not respond... GPS is definitely a must.
Thanks for this video! I’ve been wanting to get a drone camera for years and I think I’m ready to pull the trigger now. My favorite out of what you shared was the Cetus. Gotta look into that more👍
The best for begginers cheap and good at the same time for me right now is the parrot bebop...why? Cause that thing can withstand crashes like no other and price range from 120.00-150.00...that was my first one and at the begining i crash that thing into fences, walls, palm trees etc etc...it even withstood a crash from 500' like it was nothing while testing an app that overides the 400' parameter...i took it to high and the batt dies still 500' above...just a small crack on the batt case...no props broken no legs nothing...just switch the batterie and flew again like new.
Hey captain, really taking your recommendation on the JJRC Heron, but I'm trying to understand all the ruckus on amazon with these variable company names. I've seen models for sale as Ronshin JJRC, then just JJRC alone. Is there a difference? The Ronshin brands are distinctly fewer dollars and I'm skeptical.
Thanks for all your advice! You da man. Seriously I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into these videos. It makes it much easier for people like me that cannot try all the options out there. Thanks again
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I've learned more about the drone world and drones from you than anywhere else. I'm actually trying hard to turn my passion into a business and done are at the center. You sir make it much easier to obtain the proper gear and info I'll need to make that step when it's time. Did you think that your efforts would go to actually helping someone take care of his family with your info? Anyway, thank you again. What you do matters to many.
Thank you for this video. I bought a dji phantom 3 standard as my 1st drone and that was an expensive mistake. The price at the time was 500. Broke the camera in a week. Fighting with the screen instead of flying line of sight. I will never trust anyone who recommends a DJI drone for someone who has no experience. Learning how to fly 1st then upgrade. Great job brother 👍👍👍👍
Speaking of which. The camera is not worth replacing. Where is the best place to put a go pro on it. Camera is still on but does not connect. I don't want to interfere with the GPS signal and no videos on youtube that go over this issue of a broken camera on the dji phantom 3 standard. Opportunity for u how many people still have one with no camera
Was your first drone made by dji? What was it like operating a high end drone as a first time user? I’m asking because I’m thinking of getting a dji drone which costs $1400
I paid $20 for my first drone and have a blast with it. No GPS, no camera, 1 hand controller (tip it to steer). Probably the easiest drone to fly I have ever seen. Sharper Image DRO 002. It is a stunt drone so it can easily do flips. I have had it up to about 150 or so feet and the range is about 300 ft or possibly up to 500 ft if conditions are just right. Between about 5 and 8 minutes of fly time (depending on how you fly it). Bad things are you cannot easily tell when the battery is low (during the daytime) and it will start coming down when the battery is critically low and if it is over water (such as a lake), you will only have a short amount of time (depending on how high above the water it is), to get it back safely on land. Why "waste" money on a drone with GPS and camera for a first drone, when all you really want to do is fly something to get your "feet wet" (and if the drone goes into the lake, you probably will get your feet wet). Also, it can only be flown "safely" when the wind is maybe 6 MPH or less, otherwise it might not fly directly into the wind or worse, the wind will take it out of range.
My mini 2 combo was $439 so isn't comparable in price, but it's been consistently amazing as far as its video quality and flight capability. 30 minute flight time and operational range way beyond what I'd ever want to fly it to. Never even a blip in the video, clear and solid all the time. 35mph winds and it could still hold position. The only big mishap I had was when I tried one of the automated shots in the vicinity of trees, and it dutifully flew itself high into a poison ivy covered tree. Woe was me 😂
Thank you. Your video is helping me. The wifi code alone was very imformative! 👏🏽 I'm 30 yrs old and want a new outdoor hobby so deciding about getting into drones! 2020 here so it's either fly a kite or fly a drone 😂 but it's time to find a cool hobby. Sb. Racing drones are pretty awesome as well. Maybe I start off slow and work my way there? 😅
I got started yesterday with this! In South Africa we do not have that selection of drones available. As a start the cheapest without camera, about $30. Learn to fly first. Once I'm confident flying, I'll come back to this video to decide on a final purchase on what's available here! Thanks for this video!
As a beginner, may I ask. The best done to use without a phone as some needs Android only. Meaning, record from SD card only and concentrate on flying the drone and no fiddling with phone on video. Thanks.
Most of the MJXRC drones will let you fly and record video or take photos without a phone. Of course you can't see what you are filming until you land and review the footage.
Thanks for the recommendations. The Holystone HS720e that you highly recommended is on sale for the moment at $407 at Amazon as of Nov 22. The new dji mMini se fly more combo is $479.00. Each one has its advantages. Can you evaluate which would be the better choice? Thanks in advance
Samsung s8 should b good enough hopefully my first drone is going to b For Christmas from my kids I say kids 20 21 so ive plenty of time to choose Again sir your clear description of the starter drones says a lot about you Main thing whether it's starter drones mid range drones or the creme de is Creme drones is your pure honesty and that my friend puts you On a different level When I get my drone I will certainly post a vid One question what in your opinion is the best drone money can buy

Right on Captain of the Drone variety. I bought a $20. Mini drone and watched it fly an 1/8 mile through the ⛳ sprinklers. Controls off. Laughing the whole time. Still flys. I'm hooked. Thanks for the tips. Good content.
I bought dji pro 2 from costco for my overseas trip. It was amazing. But I returned it because of ver 1k is just ridiculous. Is there anything not close but better than dji below 500$?
Thanks for doing this. I have been intending to get a drone for a couple years, but, in that time, they have become ubiquitous. There are too many models and features to make a decision. One question I have--for anyone listening out there: what is the flight distance? How do they compare? If I want to fly it over large sections of woodland, can you accomplish that with the feed back to your cell phone?
Average flight distance of a low cost drone is between 200 and 500 meters. They all get their distance from your phone. Crappy phone.... crappy distance. The better the WiFi module in your phone and where it is positioned, the greater the distance.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks. Back to homework. But, say, if I got into the $500 range. Is their antenna sensitivity substantially better that it will increase the range significantly, or, is it simply the mechanics and limitation of the phone signal regardless? Sorry for the tekkie questions. You're being very generous with your knowledge.
@@kurzhaarguy The more you pay the better the technology. Top technology is the DJI Mavic 2 with Occusync 2.0 (massive range with no interference). Next is the Mavic Pro from years ago with Occusync 1.0 (still impressive range). Next you get into what is known as enhanced Wifi. Drones like the Autel Evo quickly jump frequencies to maintain a great connection (many miles). Then there is the Wifi that drones like the Parrot Anafi, Mavic Air and Mavic Mini use, Hubsan Zino, Fimi X8 SE all use. Great distance as long as you face the the drone and have nothing come between your connection. With this connection you can get a couple of miles. Finally there is the Wifi between phone & drone which is unreliable when there is the slightest interference.
@@jamesdodd4408 I never got captain drones opinion on the blade 720 but that's ok it was only $100. Bucks and becuz it's my first one I know it's gonna get beat up whether it's good or not. @@jamesdodd4408 the blade 720 is unfortunately, in my opinion, a waste of time and money. It came w missing screws and bits a pieces of only God knows what, that rattled in the body as I unpacked it. It did fly tho and I was informed before buying it, that it had a wind resistance of 6-7 and in a video I watched from the manufacturer, it was flying high and maneuvering in and out of tall palm trees as the wind was blowing the leaves around pretty good. There wasn't even a breeze the day I flew it and after looking up what the official wind speed for that day was, I came to find it was between 1 and 2 mph. To the East. That piece of junk didn't automatically land after losing connection it just kept on flying never to be seen again!! All I have left is the controller that's also a piece of junk. It was bumped off a table I had set it down on and literally fell completely apart when it hit the floor, apon inspection I realised it too had missing screws. I've never felt so ripped off in my life. The level of disappointment was epic which was also a first for me.
Very impressive advice regarding beginner's drone. Thumbs up 👍Could you tell me which on them works with radio frequency as I really don't want to fly a drone using wifi. Your reply would be really appreciated 😊
Super helpful video, thank you. I wish I had come here before.
