The Raptors are possibly one of the only Space Marine chapters with any resemblance to our modern military. In their down time, they doff their power armour, don Astra Militarum uniforms and even instruct Guardsmen in warfare. They have Lamenter’s Luck, being a Raven Guard successor chapter, but they have always managed to come back from the brink stronger and more flexible than ever.
The Salimanders hang out with their family! Yes their pre tranformation family there like hi mom I'm back from burning Orks. With all the dark chapters its cool there is a couple that dont separate themselves from humans. And I am a space wolf player that's what they do on their home planet anyway.
So let me get this straight. The Grey Knights. The guys who almost wiped out the space wolves and have purged entire civilian populations on order of the inquisition because some guardsmen saw daemons are on the list. But the Dark Angels are heretics? Sounds like Valrak is in league with the fallen.
Grey Knights are awesome and in regards to the conflict between the Wolves and Inquisition, the GKs didn't want to be part of that at all as they saw it as a waste of time and that entire ordeal actually lead to the GKs changing how they interact with the Inquisition and certain conflicts.
Well they did save a Eldar Craftworld from slaanesh demons and after they finished the demon the grey knights contacted the Eldar gave them their soulstones and just left.
@@IamBlackToast The Sisters allowed themselves to be killed as they saw that it was the only way to stop the Demons and like the Black Templars, the Sisters view the Grey Knights as living examples of the Emperor's Divine Will.

As some one who read that book, the wolves manged to get the draw and stalemate by the use of deus ex machinas (fleets popping out of nowhere twice), and because Bjorn decided to be the only sensible one in the whole fucking war (fuck the inquisition, Sons of Titan for life ) . The only wolf that really shines is Logan, and he gets slapped with some real truth from Hyperion, while simultaneously cracking a tear in his axe or morkai. Which, by the way, seems bullshit once you remember he FUCKING BROKE THE SWORD OF ANGRON!! That axe should have been splinters the moment Logan dared attack Malchadiel.
What's really sad is some first founding chapters won't ever end up on a list like this because they never get the spotlight. The Raven Guard for example lost their chapters master to a Tau Counter Ambush. In CQC...by being out stealthed..They just can't seem to get any big wins.
Wasn't that Shadowsun using one of her bodyguard's as bait in her own suit? Blasted Severax in half. But at least Shrike got to succeed him and become more prominent. I actually have that art of Severax vs. Shadowsun. It also sucked that Forge World didn't release a mutated Raptor's unit and/or the Nev brothers. GW even erased 5th Company Shadow Capt. Solaq in 8th Edition, and his model became a GENERIC Captain model. I loved Solaq's special rule because of his helm. Whenever a unit wanted to make a shooting attack, take a Leadership test. If failed, snap-shooting. It was awesome. Now Qeld from 7th Company is now 5th Company Shadow Captain.
YESSSS raven guard deserve more love. they are so much more original than some chapters and yet no one seems to like them. Also the hair looks cool imo, different to just bald or short hair.

The White Scars are by far the best SM Chapter at this time and for good reasons. The Imperial Fists have nothing on them and it's not even close. ⚡ For The Khan ⚡!!!!

Grey Knights are on this list of heroes but not the Space Wolves. Valrak I'm so disappointed, let me tell you of the heroism of the Vlka Fenryka. How they faced down Angron's forces on Armageddon, that our chapter master kept the gate clear for the humans to escape with such ferocity that Angron, Demon Primarch himself, bowed his head in respect of the Ol' Grimnar. Let us talk of how the Inquisition and Grey Knights sought to slaughter the heroic humans who fought along side them in that war and it was the Space Wolves who would not stand for it. The Wolves sacraficed many of their number, using their own ships to escorts and literally jumping in front of blasts for the refugee humans. The Inquisition and Grey Knights warred with the wolves for months such that the Grey Knights mark it in their history as the Months of Shame. Eventually Fenris itself was under attack by our own Imperium and Bjorn the Felhanded had to negotiate the peace, after Grimnar took some heads. It's easy to look heroic when your side, your authority figures, are doing the right thing. It is truly heroic to stand against your own Imperium when they are trying to harm innocent people. Any list that marks the Grey Knights as heroic must always have the Space Wolves two ranks above them.

The only UM to break the codex, survive a penitence, and get recognized by RG for his ingenuity, success, and ability to adapt, despite his codex violations. You can also tell the admiration RG had for Sanguinius, by making him top man of Imperium Secundus, and putting Dante in charge of an entire region. Love my Blood Angels!
Agreed I started reading Astartes with Uriel Ventris and then tried to read Calgar and Cato but they are boring and wrong and full of themselves. Then I got into the Blood Angels and Dante, Mephiston, Lemartes, Astorath and the big boss Sanguinius had me hooked. They are my favorite Chapter and Legion. However the White Scars and Dark Angels and a close second loyalist Legions.
In his first book he allowed the Nightbringer to wander of freely into the galaxy at large. All because he didn't have the bottle to blow himself and the Nightbringer up together.
how dare you not include the Space wolves to this list, they literally went to war with the inquisition and the grey knights to defend imperial civilians, and Grimnar Went toe to toe with Magnus and won. Grimnar is literally considered to be one of the greatest and most powerful chapter masters to have ever lived, even by other chapter masters.
aww come on varack the space wolves have put themselves between the inquistion and the common people many times (after armageddon). Lagan Grimnar is known as one of the champions humanity even to a common guardsman. I forget the quote but and old codex said that about Grimnar.

Just got done reading the Honsou Omnibus and the Ultramarines were cast in the best light. The majority of the time they were losing, but at every turn they outsmarted and outfought the bloodborn.
I’m putting this down before I watch the video but Salamanders would have to be on this because they are the friendliest, and the lamenters because they have had a lot of stuff happen to them trying to help the people of the imperium.
Ultramarines where the first chapter I heared of but the last I looked into because of their reputation as a bland/vanilla chapter. I almost felt like I had to choose a different chapter but when I finally gave them a chance I knew that this was the chapter for me. Courage and honor!
My homebrew is a Ultramarine successor chapter and I think their concept is great! Problem is they are poster boys (which any franchise needs) so people get annoyed (totally understandable). Must admit I love the new dynamic between conservative Ultramarines who follow the Codex to the letter and Big Daddy G saying nope guys it is a guide book!
I'd definitely think the Space Wolves should be on this one. They have sagas upon sagas of heroic and badass deeds. Logan Grimnar took on Magnus and made that big red disappointment buzz off... HOW DOES THAT NOT MAKE THE LIST ALONE!? lol
I am surprised Space Wolf is not included as they often being seen as "Cool chads" Vikings/Werewolves, still I am glad my favorite Blood Angels is in the list, the Space Wolves rival. Blood Angels basically these guys who fight against pure evil like the Chaos factions
Blood Angels are definetely the nemesis of the Black Legion, not only because of the battle between Sanguinius and Horus, but because they were besties, and their legions worked real closed together.
As far as grey knights go... Months of Shame (Mass sterilization and murder of Armageddon citizens because they saw the naughty naughty of Chaos, only to have Logan Grimnar prove that you can in fact sprint in terminator armor.... which apparently no one else is able to do so????? I guess the wolves just like doing things weird), Sanctuary 101 (I heard you like coating yourself in nun blood). I'd agree with Dante and the Angels being up there but I'd probably put some respect on the furry boys as well. For all their faults they are still considered to be one of the more "bro" chapters to the regular individuals of the Imperium and when you can tell the inquisition to suck it and stop being team killing bastards thats pretty cool too. Also helps that they have the oldest living chapter master (Yes Dante maybe the longest serving as Chapter Master but Bjorn beats the piss out of him he was Chapter master after Russ and is still kicking 10k years later). I am still waiting for that reunion and I am hoping GW does it.... Guilliman and Bjorn reunion and discussion of the last 10k years... come on GW make it happen.

After years of collecting just Imperial Guard. I finally picked up a Space Marine Army. Going with Imperial Fists cause I couldn’t get enough of TTS Dorn. Glad I chose the right Chapter.
I mean aside from sigismund if I remember Correctly only a blood angel has left permanent injures on abandon to the point in one of the instances he whipped out the space marines he only really honored a group of blood angel death company and their chaplain and almost every time he’s piped up a large contingent of blood angels have constantly met him and his forces constantly.
Th Ultramarines were mostly hated because of the Matt that must not be named and redeemed thanks to Captain Mark M*********** Strong Titus and Rowbot Girlymen. Can't really think of better ones and especially when thinking about Justicars Alaric quote from the first book ,it says everything you need to know about the Grey Knights.
The ppl of the Ultramar are so loyal and happy they aren't fazed by or even scared of the inquisition. They have nothing to fear from inquisitors because they have no reason to rebel. And look upon any inquisitors walking amongst them with a mild curiosity. The "space sharks", black dragons and the flesh tearers are my 3 top cursed chapters. Trial by blood, Death of Antagonis, and the 2 space sharks books are all really good especially for lore on the space sharks and the black dragons. Bless the curse!
I really enjoy all the aspects of the Ultramarines from the color scheme to the lore. Also I had 2K+ points in Eldar and Thousand Sons years before I made a Space Marine army and after reading lots of 40K books and learning about the 40K universe they were my favorite chapter and thats what motivated me to make a Space marine army in the first place.
Going back to “what would you be in 40k?”: Yes. I want to be a guardsman. But not for the Imperium. I would love to be a Gue‘vesa. Or a Imperial Historitor.
1) Should have not included the Astral Knights, because you are obviously gonna want to make a "The Best Dorn Descendants" video soon. 2) I agree with the Blood Angels vs Black Legion bit, pretty much all the legions gained a Imperial-Chaos rivalry/counterpart that I could see having gone down through the years continuing with the Chapters and Warbands.
I 100% agree with the Blood Angels (I mean, how could you not?); they were my first army when I first got into the hobby back in 3rd Edition. After I lost everything when my storage unit was auctioned off, I took a break for a while, and when I came back, decided to make my own Blood Angels Successor, because I still loved them and wanted to use the lore and characters, but wanted to make something that was my own as well. I also loved the hopeful tragedy of the Lamenters, and decided to use the same founding (the "Cursed Founding") and gene-seed for my own chapter, so the 2 chapters would have an even stronger bond than the rest of the Successors, matched only by that of their progenitors. I plan to eventually attempt writing a novel about the origins of my chapter, and to include a strong thread of kinship through mutual assistance in various actions and events between the 2 chapters. We don't hear much about the Lamenters, so I figure it would be neat to try and flesh them out a bit along with my own. That's why I love that you included them on this list, because, of all the Sons of Sanguinius, I think they're the most deserving, even over the Angels Vermillion. 😆 Sorry, had to. Anyways, thanks for including my 2 favorite chapters; and thanks for the info from the Worst Loyalist Chapters video; I actually learned some things from that. 😄👍🏼
Excuse me, But as a Dark Angels fan boi I have to protest this list. Not once did you mention the Space Wolves. They almost went to war with the inquisition and the grey knights to protect us lowly imperial citizens/guardsmen. If Bjorn didnt step in, those grey tin cans from Titan would of been on their knees begging the emperor to send Mortarian to save them from the ass whoopin. And those are FACTS.

Blood Angels Nemesis is Black Legion for Astartes vs Astartes. But Khorne is the Joker to their Batman. Tempting them every step in the way to let go of their control and and embrace the Black Rage, Red Thirst and then finally the Crimson Insanity that those mindless berzerkers refer to as a "Blessing".
thats one of the reasons Hive Fleet Behemoth is my favorite and considered the best Hive Fleet, they nearly wiped out the Ultramarines, killing there entire 1st company and mortally wounding Calgar AKA papa Smurf, plus they got Old One Eye and the best colors for a Hive Fleet

There would be no Son of Dorn, without the Ultramarines. And the rescue of the Raptors? And the Inceptors? The defense of Ichar IV? What about the destruction of Biofleet Behemoth? Did you ever know that Horus lowered shields of Vengeful Spirit because the immense fleet of the Ultramarines was inbound, thus ending the Heresy? And the Great Scouring? Let's talk about the Scythes of the Emperor, the ones that fought alongside the Lamenters and gathered unvaluable information for the defeat of Behemoth. And the Celestial Lions? And the Soul Drinkers, the ones that ended the Age of Aposthasy with the Black Templars?
I don't know about the Lamenters, here are the facts: - They are from the cursed founding. - They still suffer from the 2 flaws anyway. - They sided with the Astral Claws in their rebellion. - Refused to join the rest of the Blood Angel descendants in the defense of Baal. - Should have died in that 100 year crusade of penance, got reinforced with Primaris anyway, thus making the penance worthless.

The blood Angels nemesis are WE. BL are generally everyone's nemesis though rn they seem more like the anti-ultramarines. Not for any lore reason they're just the poster boys for chaos same as UM are for imperium. The lore nemesis for UM are WB. UM being the epitome of the imperiums greatest ideals, WB being the epitome of Chaos greatest ideals.
