@@ApolloX_Games Yeah, when you read the info about Shadows and Neoshadows in Jiminy's Journal, it says you can use water to damage them when they're part of the ground.
Magnet is mainly for crowd control and it can buff damage to enemies while they’re in it It’s one of those things where if you know the game it’s truly busted
thats hilarious, i was just about to comment "i think the best magic in Kingdom Hearts, is the friends we made along the way", just seconds before you say it in the video hahaha
@EmeraldBlade98 damage wasn't the only thing I'm looking for as I stated at the beginning of the video. Water was more versatility being usefull against a single target, hordes, still does great damage and the armor around sora doing damage and supplying small I frames
Personally would put Seeker Mine/Regular Mine as the best BBS magic. Imo safety is far more important due to how unpredictable and agressive bosses can be, randomly just breaking out of combos when they feel like it; so having a quick cast, high damaging command is important. Bosses will often aggressively run after you anyways, so all you have to do is just lead the enemy over the mines.
Yea hard agree, seeker mine puts BBS on easy mode. I think on my recent Aqua play through I just used seeker mines only in the Mirage Arena when I was getting the Ultima weapon
Days Magic system is the key to making the game much more fun! Enemies have more HP bars then they really need sometimes and magic is the best way to mitigate that! Overall a Fantastic video full of useful facts on magic in the series! Nice work! Edit: Also I am totally okay! Days is fun and not at all straining to make content on! at all! I swear! -🥴🥴
Great Video all around! Definitely leaving a Like, and it's always nice to see people play kingdom hearts days! very nostalgic game for me! (I Actually have a humble argument for why blizzra is the best magic, which you can find below if you're curious to read. keep in mind i may be a bit bias however, as my experience with the game may vary from other people as I 100%ted the game as well as did plenty of "Pvp" Using the game across the years.) For 358/2 Days, I Would Humbly argue that Blizzra Is the best magic. the Freeze Status effect is Arguably the best status effect as it allows for triple damage on enemies and holds them in place unlike air toss, which may have varying heights/effects on enemies from what i recall. At higher level's it's not actually the worst at damaging multiple enemies as long as their grouped up tightly together, as the AOE in which blizzra can explode seems to grow as you increase it's level, as well as the chances of inducing the status effect. Blizzra increases the damage of all other magic by 3 times via the consistent freeze status effect it can provide in contrast to blizzard or Blizzaga. Furthermore, It actually has one more thing of note; It's Actually a great spell not just for fighting enemies, but for fighting ALLIES, too. If you play days long enough, or ever played it with friends, I'm sure you've done your best to duke it out with your friends in a pseudo pvp fashion. Blizzra is UNDENIABLY the best spell for this as if you land it even once, you will often freeze the enemy, and can then land a thundaga that can EASILY take over half their health (Or ALL of it with certain builds) in one go. Blizzra destroys the hp of Enemies and Allies Alike when used in combination with other magic that wont disrupt the freeze, making it in my opinion the best spell, As It Provides value to all other spells it works well with quintessentially. it is the best source of the freeze status effect, and thus, triple damage in the entire game, as Blizzard Finish or Block may have varying Success In comparison to Blizzra's high freeze chance and spammability. it takes every fairly balenced spell such as fira and thundaga and overtunes it all. In fact, if anyone is interested, I Actually Labbed this stuff out for the mission mode "PVP" you can perform with your friends and found that Blizzra + Thundaga was Unquestionably the best form of damage at the highest level (100.) If anyone's interested, I would be happy to post the google document.
Forgot one spell for KH1. Cure is by far the most strongest it's ever been in any KH game with no cool down with one single MP also leaf bracer. On Proud it's basically mandatory to have it equipped at all times.
I addressed cure in the video on how it's useful in every game. But I also stated I wasn't using anything such as leaf bracer that enhances the spell, only the spell on its own. I appreciate the input but I did address these in the video lol
KH3 I will debate that Fire is better just from the speed of it overall having less of a cast time also getting the items for more stronger fire is much quicker to obtain than the water spell ones. I will also add KH2 spells so about Magnet comment there is one boss that super wrecked by Magnet level 2 and above plus Thunder. Barbosa (Randomizer trick only) but there is other applications where it kinda works generally is Master Genie plus Magnet. But KH2 other strongest magic for second place would be Fire. So Reflect > Fire > Magnet but reason why Fire because too many boss loops and makes some datas so much better lol.
@Superstarearth these are all very valid points. But again I stated only the magic on its own. Combing the magic with other things would not apply to what the video was set out to do.
I mained Firaga during the 'No Keyblade' bit of 358/2. Just ripped out all my Keyblade and attack related stuff (except guard) and spammed the damn thing.
Personally for says I really liked the thunder spells but mainly cuz the status effect is super busted, enemies that have a status take double damage and thunder spells status effect is if they touch anything they take damn so it can take massive chunks of health
I will say a few points on the KH2 information. Reflect is "neutral" but its still categorized as magic damage same as Explosion. Roxas has a high resistance to magic damage in general, that includes Reflect. Also when it comes to guarding an attack vs Reflecting, there are some circumstances that guard is a much safer option. The amount of I-frames guard gives in general is long enough you have more than enough time to guard again. This is especially previlent in something like the opening String Data Xemnas does, where as you cant reflect through it due to the length of the attack. Otherwise a good video, just thought I would shed some light on it.
Gravity is really complex and my pick, the problem with Aero is that you just don't get much time with it, especially aerora and aeroga. You get aero after neverland I think, and dont get the upgrades until beating the hercules cup and saving 90 puppies.aeroga is great, but you barely get to use it. Even base gravity is strong and you can get it as early as the phil cup. Days is an easy choice for me, and will be an easy choice for everyone who wants to try a lv 1 run. It's thundaga, it's 100% thundaga. It's targeted, near instant, has aoe (smaller than the other aoes but still) and most importantly, the secondary effect. In days (and coded) thunder can jolt enemies, causing them to take triple damage from the next hit and stunning them. Thundaga while being only one bolt, actually hits twice, both hits can jolt with a very high chance. So you can get a jolt on the first thundaga hit, triple damage on the next, and have the enemy stunned for the next thundaga to do triple damage too. Did I mention it still has aoe?
Sonic Blade is equal to Lethal Frame in Chain Of Memories, but I could never get the timing right for Lethal Frame on Replica Riku battle 4 in Sora campaign so I have to use Sonic Blade
Reflect as well can be used with combo master to deal massive damage. Reflect into attack makes it so you can attack while the reflect invis frames is still up. This is important because when you use this to bosses who are doing combos on you, you can detonate reflect mutiple times in a singke combo as the reflect into attack technically ends the reflect. 3 detonations of reflect in a single combo is crazy
There is _one_ boss affected by Magnet in KH2; the cursed spirit that you fight in Port Royal 2nd in order to recover the Aztec Gold. Speaking of which, one property of Magnet you failed to mention is that it can also pull in orbs scattered around towards the point Magnet was cast; HP, MP, Limit, Munny, Synthesis Material, and even world-specific orbs Morale, Score, Data and Aztec Gold are all affected.
Honestly, when I emulated Re:Coded, I quite enjoyed it. Despite my PC being old and thus making it run a little bit slow. As you said, the magic and commands in general are great in this niche game that everyone tends to ignore. And not just the new magics they show either. They give us the fun option of creating elemental versions of our attack commands too. It was honestly a surprise how much I enjoyed it when I went through it.
Afaik reflect is also light damage type, like explosion or ripple burst. I think there are several others also with light damage type like damage from drive form change, can't remember much with the rest.
I have mastered KH Days, so I can tell what are the best spells in the game and how to use them. Early game, blizzard is the best, always equip it and maxed lv5 lasts long and has more chance to freeze enemies (really useful against Zip Slasher). Mid game fire/fira against bosses and thunder against bosses like Darkfollower (onshotted with one thunder) and other enemies cornered. Late game thundaga or firaga. Situational spells are aero/aerora/aeroga and cure/cura. Useless spell is curaga. When you equip spell panels you mustn't equip all the spells, but use the most powerful with extra throws, and of course at least one elixir, and if you haven't enough elixirs you can always farm receipes from Gigashadows.
There is a aspect of Aero spells in KH3 you forgot about, similar to Blizzard leaving a ice rail for Flowmotion, Aero leaves an updraft that can be used to avoid attacks via flowmotion as well
I didnt forget about it, just felt no need to mention it since I hard the same opinion with ath as ice trail that it's more of an outside of combat thing
I finished Re:Com in proud for the first time playing it all thanks to Lethal Frame, absolute beast of a spell, i got it around atlantica, which i chose to go first in the second ring of cards, since i hate atlantica i wanted it to go first, and from there on, it never left my deck, always had a 6 cards exclusive for lethal frame at the end
i've never actually done a magic run until recently when i just decided "eh, i'll do it" for my second play of KH3. it was a blast. i've since decided to do a KH2 magic run, and never was aware how good Reflect was. i barely used magic except to farm Wisdom form and even then it was just basic Fire/Bliz/Thun and a quick access Cure. i feel like a complete idiot now for all the time i spent to beat Sephiroth with the REGULAR ASS GUARD. my third eye is awakened now and i see i must turn Sephy into paste
For union cross its gotta be kh3 kairi (i think there were to many to count) since it heals you, raises defensive and attack by a substantial amount, it maxes out the buffs if you got lucky and got the trait where you can use the medal twice besides that there is no strong attack magic since they release the same medal but for different attributes. Which is why i prefer the medals that do neutral damage
I have made Gravity instant kill win KH1, but it does need a lot of MP to do so. As for my choice, they are the same as in the video, except for Exo Spark, I love Triple Blizzaga Pursuit. Lots of damage, stunlock potential, can be used in bosses and procs the best status effect in the game. Magic in Re:Coded is great, most high level magic has use in multiple situations.
I know it's not magic, but Lethal Frame or Trinity Limit from re chain of memories are probably the strongest attacks in the entire series, gameplay wise. Lethal Frame cheeses every boss that's susceptible to stop, and Trinity Limit is just a screen nuke.
You should do a best attack video so attack commands that Terra and Riku have get to shine. For the mainline games you could do best ability like flash step for example. And COM is pretty self explanatory. I really hope we see unique ideas for magic like stop, magnet, and reflect in KH4 again.
For KH1 I could see an argument for cure since once you get Leaf Bracer you can chain invincibility frames for as long as your MP allows. I'd still rank Aero better overall though.
Chain of Memories & RE:Chain of Memories are two different games, and do not have all the same cards and sleights. Some sleights were added, some were reworked, and others were outright removed and replaced with new, completely different ones. Because of this, if you only look at the remake, you are ignoring some of the best sleights in the original. Edit: also, Lethal Frame was not in the original. "Every kingdom hearts game" my ass.
I preferred that magic were on cooldown, instead of costing MP. 'cause then the lower tier magic would have their uses. Like, "Tier 1s" like Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, etc. emphasized on being spammable/rapid fire, and vice versa with "Tier 3s" like Firaga, Blizzaga & Thundaga
For me(someone who goes with cool over strictly utility) the only real changes would be: Zero gravity for BBS Overall, I just love that spell so much. The Seeker Blizzard in Days, i forget which level that is. Even if we split KH2 into base and the 3 magic forms, it would still all be Reflect with some minor considering of Final Firaga. But i still wanna honerable mention Wisdom Blizzard, and if wisdoms normal attack counts then that just wins.
I think seeker blizzard is just base blizzard. And as far as the drive form mentions I was only accounting for the spell on its own. So any combos with it like using it with a drive or mixing up spells wouldn't count
Hello. Some years ago I had my KH 358/2 LVL1 Crit playthrough and I can confirm that Thundaga is clearly superior than Firaga. For Firaga you need space and time, for Thundaga you just need to click and it just does damage. I killed the Dustflier at LVL 1 by spamming Thundaga and Elixir. That's all I need to know that Thundaga is the best spell in that game.
Yes, I also did a Re:Coded LVL1 Crit playthrough and have something to say about it: Triple Pursuit is broken, let me explain. Fire magic seeks and does damage 1 time Blizzard magic goes straight but goes throgh enemies Both have a version that replicates the other one's movement: Firaga Burst goes straight for a ton of damage and Blizzaga Pursuit HOMES IN ENEMIES FREEZING THEM AND HITTING THEM MULTIPLE TIMES. Now imagine having 3 of those doing damage WHILE you are free to move. Sure Exo Spark is way cooler and does a lot of AOE damage, but Triple Pursuit does more damage over time (during way more time) while not having you stuck on the floor.
I'm noticing a pattern. Defensive spells were basically avoided after 1 and 2, due to being too broken. Seriously lookn at all the best spells, almost all of them have defensive ultility, or are so oppressively op with no defensive magic in sight. Honestly, kh4 better just, let us equip spells to be a defensive option at this rate, like an elemental reflect, or dodge rolls that light people on fire. Also water is best on kh3, have you seen the i frames on it? God damn, that shits basically a free immortality button if you time it right. Which kinda lines up given Ariel's summon is one as well, and it's elements water, i think they did that on purpose. I expect a water block in kh4, like reflect replacing blocks in bbs. I know I basically said it twice, but it really feels like they might as well do it, as it's that or going back to ignoring magic as a defensive tool again, and I'd rather not.
21:32 Personally I view Shotlocks as the natural progression for Magic in Kingdom Hearts. So I would give best Magic to one of the Shotlocks like Ultima Cannon. 25:58 I'm upset Zero Graviza wasn't mentioned.
i thought everybody knew water could kinda act as reflect i found it out immediately doesnt mean i ever used it twas too busy spamming summons to not die
13:43 in KH2 light and neutral is the same dame type. Explosion and Reflect share the same 'element'. Not only that but Im pretty sure no enemy in the entire game resists light. The only thing that comes close to resisting light is Terras Combo Armour and that mechanic works the same way against everything. Fun fact: Magnet (and Magnet Burst)Does Dark damage. The same damage Antiforms attacks do.
My nostalgia says KH1 is the best in the series. KH2's worlds felt a little flat in places. Sure, there was some elevation here and there, but the areas just didn't feel like they did in KH1, like the opening area of Hollow Bastion, one of the best opening areas in the series. Also, there's no Trinity marks or Dalmatians to find. (We could have had something else at least.) At the very least, I know we could have done Trinity Marks again. I kind of liked the Dalmatians side quest because it gave us something else to find in every world and Trinity Marks was somewhat for the same reason.
so yea as you said gravity does more damage as you gain the upgraded versions. but it does 50% current hp as damage. so two casts of gravity on the same heartless would only do 75% of their total hp. just to let you know. great video btw
Yeah I actually started to wonder if I goofed on that but I do still believe aero comes out on top a little but gravity is such a close pick. Thank you for the info!!
Why would Order 66 be offensive? Those children dawged Darth Vader and almost killed him. That idiot thought the kids were going to be easy but he’s fighting for his life!
Great vid! But I would disagree with BBS. Thunder Surge, Magnet and Thundaga (and the mine spells) are generally the best spell in the game. Mostly because they don't make you vulnerable in the battlefield. BBS is simply an unbalanced game with relatively few safe commands. The majority just suck and get you killed on critical mode. Including the ones you chose.
I agree partially with the take on magnet and Thunder cause that becomes broken on Level 1. But keep in mind that's gonna be mainly for mob fights, boss fights won't be as easy. Also thunder surge is an attack command, but ill get to that whenever I make a best attack video😁
For me i love light and dark magic. Like holy, faith, and dark fire. And i also like ballon magic. Also why didn't you use scan in some kh games??? Eveyone uses it. Water can be defensive tbh
Im not saying people arent aloud to dislike KH3 but i wish theyd stop arguing with people who do like it, opinions differ and whats fun is different for everyone, I liked KH3 and thats the base launch version since i havent even played remind, i had a ton of fun with it as did others, so if you dont like it thats valid but dont try to force others to dislike it
Don't really have a good way of researching that game so I left it out. It's mostly similar to recom anyway, though there are a few notable differences
I can't in good faith claim Aero to be even close to as good as people think. There's actually three bosses that actively punishes you for using it. Ice Titan creates giant spears that breakthrough also Ursula and World of Chaos(Face) spam Thunder faster if you have Aero equipped. It's amazing that it can hit the enemy when it's on but it later bosses like Riku and Sephiroth who are completely immune to Magic aren't effected by Aerogas attack at all. Stop is amazing but you can totally make it ineffective by accidentally Stopping them during an Attack you can't interrupt. So you're really at the mercy of luck whenever you cast Stop in a crowd. Gravity I was able to use throughout my entire Level 1 playthrough to beat bosses like Ice Titan and especially Malificent. The higher the total life of the enemy the more Damage Gravity does. Meaning it's actually better against Bosses not worse.
I really just personally disagree but I understand where you're coming from. Though I will say gravity doesn't function the same with bosses. The total health percentage thing only applies to normal enemies
"Magic is pretty tame in KH3" My Magic-ignoring ass when I got into KH3, because hydromancy is cool: Water and water water, water, and water-water~ Seriously, it's like, the only spell I actually like in the series, kh2 thunder/fire during master/final form respectively being the only instance of that not being true.
26:55 THANK YOU! I’m glad to hear someone else say the same thing I’ve been thinking. It’s a shame since although KH2FM is an amazing game and one of my fav KH games, its hype and praise and the negativity towards the Osaka games have gotten exaggerated and kinda toxic. Just because the gameplay and battle style is not like KH2 doesn’t make it factually bad game. I feel people who put KH2 on a pedestal made their opinions a fact and the fandom followed suit.
nah for kh3 it's always fire. I literally have footage of bosses going down in less than 30 seconds when it comes to fire. also fire with shooting star guns defined broken.
Fire is indeed powerful but it's only use is damage, water has more versatility. I said this in the video but the decision was not made off damage alone. Versatility can put a spell of lower damage over another
"Thats right, release order Cause it's best order" He says as he, Skips Chain of memories for Re:Chain, which are different games with entirely different magic properties.
One problem with KH2 and COM each. KH2, you don't talk about Drive-based magics (such as Wisdom or Final Form's complete changes to each spell) and Wisdom Form Fire is basically Magnet but it moves you instead of the enemy, so it works on bosses. And while that's technically not 'standing on its own,' if you are using Sleights from RE:COM but ignoring Drive form spell morphs, even if the top answer is still Reflega, it's a bit inconsistent. COM, you specifically only reference RE;COM in taking about 'release order' when RE:COM came out after KH2, while COM came out on GBA before it. An honorable mention should be given to discussing the significant differences in how effective each spells are for COM vs RE:COM, especially since a lot of those sleights didn't exist in COM.
I didnt consider COM cause I just didn't have a good way of recording footage or researching. As far as KH2 drive forms do not account for the topic cause I stated at the beginning that I'm only accounting for the spell on its own. Anything to combo with the spell like drive forms was not accounted for. Hope that makes sense :)
@@ogskraxx6678 Fair enough about COM, but I still find it fundamentally flawed to allow sleights (which are combos of spells and other such) and not include the different iterations of spells through drive forms, when both basically give you whole new spells to play with. To each their own, in this case.
God I knew that in KH1 thee best was Aero and all along that part I was screaming we all know it's Aero just say it 😅, however it was perfect to describe everything first to take out the others
No Aero in kh1 has its downfall. If you face the ice titan and use aero. He automatically increases the size of his projectiles. Meaning your aero can't deflect them. This implies to other boss s}mobs
95% sure Ice Titan is the only boss with a counter to aero. And personally I think if one boss has a counter to a spell that speaks more to the design of the boss than it does to the quality of the spell
