i disagree its not bespoke enough for a maybach. And for those saying "well the s680 is just a sclass". No this looks like mercedes couldnt sell the new SL so now there retrofitting them as maybachs. The old s650 cabriolet had more presence.

Kallenius and his company (2019 - present Merc) have been on a disaster roll, the way cars look, the way they're poorly constructed and the way they're designed so ugly, thank Wagener for that, they're just doing a very bad job and it's clearly showing. The C63s has been a disaster, the new SL class is still as disasterous as ever and the new screeny plasticy Mercs are NOT selling well. Cancellation of the second gen EQ platform that'd have housed the new EQE and EQS, the EV sales taking a huge dip and their customer reports being the worst they've ever been. Mercedes is a company of luxury and experience, Wagener and Kallenius sure as hell aren't experienced nor good. For fucks sake, this SL680 is supposed to take on RR or Bentley on a luxury scale? Don't play me, this car is just a very poorly constructed mass of an electrical box rebadged as a Maybach, disrespecting the original brand and putting shame on it the way it looks and it acts. Maybach? Bentley? RR? What a joke, this car is barely a Mercedes Benz let alone a Maybach to begin with. Putting a Maybach badge on an AMG, what a sick, sick joke this is.

This looks more like an exercise in brand narcissism, than in innovative luxury design and execution. It would appeal to only people with cheesy taste who tend to wear tight Gucci print pants with clashing shoes, and tasteless jewelry. Money cannot buy taste, but it can buy a spectacle it would seem. Mercedes is capable of doing better and it really should. They should rehire an exclusive AMG team and put them in charge of Maybach as well.
Cars like this are for people in Shanghai , Dubai , Doha , Riyad , Miami - not known to be the most tasteful people. As a famous saying goes : "people who have money don't have taste" "people who have taste don't have money" Not true a 100% of the time , but as a general rule of thumb , close enough.
Not my cup of tea but why are designers at Mercedes so obsessed with the company's emblems? Are they concerned people won't know what it is? Having a zillion emblems on a car is very tacky and cheapens the marque.
Maybach needs its own design and features. Engine should have been unique. Headlights and taillights should have been different. Info screen should be unique.
Maybach is like RUF and Brabus they technically create a new car. They either add luxury or performance with some styling changes so you know the brand is not the former.
I’m not the kind of person who buys clothes and designer goods with huge logos and prefer the regular SL. I’d imagine someone with Gucci purses with big logos would buy this. I’m glad Mercedes made it, though.

I never liked this new SL in the first place and always thought it is overpriced but now with Maybach it is complete joke the S class coupe that it replaced was much better looking
oh yes. Just 2 days ago I had the honor of driving next to a white Bentley Continental GT convertible with a red roof. What a sublime moment. I wouldn't have that feeling with the Mercedes model. More like pity. But I hope that Audi doesn't completely ruin the future design. I don't like the new headlights at all(only 2 instead of 4). I have a bad feeling.
I know it’s tacky but I like it, however that bonnet needs to GO. Those repeating M logo’s are a step too far. I think this car could be better specified colour wise etc. Perhaps dark blue with a tan interior.
While I’m not sure about the hundreds of Maybach logos stuck all over it, I do agree the changes they’ve made to the actual shape and the wheels over the normal SL look nicer 👍🏻
3:06 they put paint first then they laser the maybach logo then they put clear coat and polish a couple times otherwise paintjob would be with a couple 100k‘s there a reason to ferrari charging 10k for hand painted shields and also amg offering the black series and amg1 motorsport edition only to special customers
Its not that bad theres just something cheap and aftermarket about it and idk what it is. Its definitely high quality material wise and it looks great but it doesnt look legitimate. It looks like the sl platform was difficult for maybach to work around

I love the rims. Just get rid of this cheap VL looking hood and the car is not so bad. If I would have the money I would buy it. We should appreciate the last versions of real cars with a combustion engine. The car manufacturers are under a lot pressure these days.
Gorden Wagener is a Master, but his latest work is not convincing. I wish they return the grace of SLR in a next design language for their future cars. Logos everywhere? C'mon sir, you can do better!

The fact that the new “Maybachs” are just extended S Classes with the same features is such brand degradation. They could have atleast added the curtains, roof mounted dials, etc to the S-Class Maybachs but nope… There was so much potential when relaunching the mark & they continue to ruin it.
@@fifteen8850 the S class one EWB is actually good, V12, and actually pretty nice inside, this one I can’t get past too how it’s stock engine, yes quick but I wouldn’t call this a supercar, maybe power wise but not looks. People who get this will prolly never drive it, also I thought Maybach brand was to “never drive yourself” its supposed to be a Class brand of merc, not whatever this is. A 2 seater Maybach? There’s quite a bit of reasons why the designer deserves to be immediatly fired. Just the idea is stupid. This is a 350k glorified 70k car in reality. There’s a right to bash stupid cars. It’s the only way they might actually take NOTICE when everyone hates a car, it will not sell. They can’t even sell the regular SL because they made the stupid mistake of making the new AMG GT just another SL basically, same same but different. There’s like 20 different better options

horrible whan mercedes became. putting 100s of maybach logos all over and charging well over 300k on it is amazing. less quality than ever. uglier cars then ever. the changes they made to the car are so minor and dont cost them basically anything but charge 3-4 times the money. and then only 1 interior and 2 colours is a joke.
