It could be half the price of what it is and they'd still profit though. Older chips are crazy cheap especially when purchased in bulk. Shell is a plastic 3d printer design and i'd reckon the most expensive is the battery/board and even then. Crazy cheap to manufacture.
Bought the original RG35XX back in January. Have played on it nearly every day since then. Just ordered the Plus. Hoping that GarlicOS turns into something as special as the original with 1.4.9 on it. Freakin' love this thing.
I bought this on Aliexpress the day it launched and I’m still waiting on it to ship. That being said I crumbled and bought a Miyoo Mini Plus in that time and I’ve got to say I adore that thing so much already and I’m looking forward to this next one to run some more powerful games
Looking forward to a new review once Garlic OS is available. Also waiting patiently for this device to have bluetooth audio options. that would be a reason for me to switch from the MM+.
Anbernic released a new firmware for it and you can now switch between dpad en stick and more options availeble and better newer cores installed. Also scraping works now good with the update using skraping on pc. Its almost perfect now.
This really is pretty great value for what it is. But anbernic always expect the community to make cfw. I any case its a sweet little upgrade from the original. Thanks for a banging review bro 🔥🔥🔥👍🏾
I love the idea, it looks great, but I still want one that is slightly wider and slightly taller, so it be perfect, and slightly bigger DPAD, 1 inch taller and 3/4 of inch wider, it be totally perfect. I think that because it needs a bigger screen and more area for the hand to fit in more comfortably.
Brandon, they must have been listening because the latest stock is actually not bad lad. Totally serviceable and muOS is stunningly mature CFW so we've all kinds of retro gaming goodness happening now man.
It lives or dies with the GPU driver given to the community. It'll be GarlicOS or bust. The Stock Firmware is missing about 10+ systems that the RG35XX had through Garlic. It saved the device a year ago.

@@AP101083 Yes, i already have it installed. We get Mega CD, PC-Engine CD (ROMs go into pce, not pce-cd!) and PGM2 support. Some more entries in the APPS section and a better font with adjusted screenshot display. But i miss the 50 Ports of the RG35XX. 🥲
Dreamcast performance in the palm of my hands for less than 100 bucks and not having to use a phone or to hunt down a Raspberry with a GPi case sounds great to me. But going that route, I'd really welcome if that thing had HDMI output via USB-C too.
I’ll agree with this when garlic 2.0 goes to the 353v. Main reason I find myself using the miyoo mini plus was onion is with its ability to state save when shutting off and going right back to that state when turning on. That feature not being there kills it for me. And garlic has it as well.
For me not having sticks is a plus, it makes the device more sturdy and smaller. Most games I'm going to be playing on these don't require analogs anyway
Lack of sticks? What more do you want for the price? Not only that where the hell would the sticks go? You are looking for a different handheld altogether, which exists.
I just may decide to get myself the Transparent Black 35XX Plus! Was waiting for the Trimui Smart Brick to arrive, but I may just get this 35XX Plus instead. I don't think the Trimui Brick is coming.
I was pretty much all-in with the Gray model when I saw it for the original model, but for some reason I couldn't figure out which system the buttons were emulating in their color. At first I was like "can't be the NES, those were red anyway, SNES maybe? Famicom? No, those were colorful, my N3DS has that..." For some reason the thought that it was literally meant to be the coloration of a Game Boy completely eluded me, maybe because we get four buttons instead of two. But anyway, I think it looks great. I'm not sure if I'd have gone with black for that additional buttons, originally, but I do think it looks good as it is. I'd have preferred a design that used the colorful Famicom buttons, truthfully, because I think they just look amazing, but the best option for that was the Miyoo Mini Plus and I wasn't really attached to that system the way I was with the RG35XX and later its Plus model. Now, though, I am quite happy with the coloration. I think it looks great and knowing it's almost the exact color the Game Boy used for its buttons just makes me appreciate it all the more. I also love the glossy look on *just* the buttons, because one, it looks great, and two, I'm not a slippery-slimy little cretin who snacks and plays games. Not anymore, anyway. Used to sometimes when I was a kid, but trust me, once you see your cousin cramming his hand in a chip bag, shoveling them into him mouth and then, without even wiping his hands down on his pants properly, with all that grease on his fingers, grabbing your favorite controller... and then seeing the problems the controller has later because chip bits sunk into the crevices... ...yeah, you start to view snacking while gaming as an absolute *no-go.*
Since its Linux based isn't it better to install ArkOS and Batocera on it instead of the stock. I don't know much but I've heard the Odin 2 is top tier that can play anything from 8 bit all the way to AAA streaming. As for pocket handhelds. I was hoping to find something similar to a DS construction that can process Game cube, DS, all the way to at least PS vita, PSP (which ever is before PS2. I'd be surprised if it could run PS2 games flawlessly (that be the bonus perk). I know the expectation of having it run Xbox flawlessly is too much for Anbernic. I know if Hacksmith Industries got on board they could do a better job by adding all components of a mini gaming pc into a handheld device for flawless streaming and emulation. For Hacksmith Industries this would be childs play since they have engineered lots if stuff and created an actual lightsaber. Ambernic can't be compared to the innovative Canadians. This just means Ambernic needs to use a higher processing chip, quality screens, Touch screen and duel process Ram. They should keep the HDMI port and add the duel port SD slots, WiFi, BT (is it necessary if it has hal sensor sticks). If they do make a DS model modular Duel real Hal sensor sticks at least 6 triggers (3 on each side). The duel sticks would be close to the D pad and button pads. The trigger design easier for large hand individuals and hidden L3, R3 triggers in the back. Grip pads or similar for long play hours. A larger battery for long play hours and a revamp sleep mode that saves battery. If those things are removed its not worth buying. Also... Ambernic should have options. Linux barebones edition (still with duel SD slots) and a pricer one for Android capabilities (still with Duel SD slots). I honestly hate Android since most emulators are finicky. Dolphin is the only good one for some Ayaneo devices. For the rest If I could... I would use Batocera. Well, How could I not love Batocera? It can play any game as long as the system can handle it. Until then I hold off on emulator devices. I hope they can surprise us instead of giving more disappointment. We are going to pay for quality that isn't the average Monopoly gaming company they might as well set the bars high otherwise why pay for their devices. Also, they need to be truthful of their advertisement from what devices can emulate smoothly. Long term customers look for Truthfulness.
Custom firmwares only support a device if the custom firmwares were developed for it. Arkos only supports certain devices with rk3326 and rk3566 chips. Just because it's Linux doesn't mean it can use all the custom firmwares.
I'm going with the RG353V because I LOVE the virtual boy and you can't really play those games on the rg35xx/myoomini because there's. No 2 d pads or joysticks

I absolutely don’t agree at the beginning of the video about the shoulder buttons of the rg35xx. Compared to the miyoo mini+, they are really nice to use and not cheap at all. They are really more confortable than on other devices. 😊

The RG35xx Plus is far more capable and has a bit of headroom for performance in games that are under Dreamcast levels of complexity... which is important to me, and just overall makes the RG35xx Plus nicer to use in broad terms.
Always get your own roms, the roms on the SD card that comes with it are faulty and broken, also the SD card is trash. Get new SD card(s), a SD card reader and make your own libary of roms. Check a tutorial.

If those are the only 2 devices you are comparing, the anbernic is the clear winner. Miyoo needs to stop riding their success from 2 years ago and innovate.
if I don't use the grip it's unusable, the size it's just too small, fu*k pocketable, why there is no comfortable handheld, except the expensive ones like steam deck?
For Widescreen, Retroid 3+ is comfy... anbernic RG505 is decent... XU10 or R36S are cheaper full sized portrait-style devices -- none of these are overly expensive.
