BRIAN BEWARE!! Some pressings of 1967-1970 being sold at record stores right now are NOT AAA, and are the 2018 reissue made in Canada. Here’s how you can spot the good ones: 2014 AAA pressing: - Hype Sticker says “Analogue” and has a long number code on the bottom right corner - Sticker on the back says “Made in Netherlands” - The logo that is placed next to the barcode on the back of the jacket is the Universal Studios logo - Copyright info says 2014 on the back of the jacket - Pressed at Record Industry, has some very very long number codes in the deadwax 2018 Digital Reissue: -Sticker says “Analog” and has a short number code on the bottom right corner - Sticker on the back says “MADE IN CANADA” - Logos placed next to the barcode on the back of the jacket are the Capitol and UMe logos - “2018” can be found in the copyright description on the back of the jacket - Record was clearly pressed by GZ Media, as the deadwax will have laser etched numbers, and there arent a plethora of numbers as there would be on the AAA pressing The 2018 pressing is downright awful, as it has many issues like dropouts and of course, shitty GZ vinyl

Great info. Wasn’t even aware of this Canadian pressing. Thankfully mine are both the 2014.

Hi from the UK. Absolutely agree with you regarding the sound quality of these albums. I bought the original ones in 1974 when I was 14 & the reissue ones a couple of years ago. I always looked after my records and even today my 50 year old ones still sound great (despite being played on various dubious quality turntables over the years😬). Another LP which I believe you can still purchase which is great for newcomers to the Beatles is the Love album. Not everybody’s cup of tea but I personally really like it.

My first Beatles albums as released in 1973. These were/are my first albums as a preteen. Absolute treasures. Needless to say, I played them nonstop. BTW- I still have my original copies, covers are worn, but records are in great condition. Even as a young person- always took care of my albums. Glad you focused on these great collections. Lastly, the inside gatefold photo is one of my favorite photos of them. Yes, the song selections are fantastic. George is definitely represented well in this collection.

It wouldn’t have been the 70s without these fantastic albums ! Sure got me going as a 10 year old and I’m sure it can do the same with the latest generation if they release the stereo lps once every month or something like that.

Hi Brian: Thanks for another great video. The gatefold photographs in the sets was taken at St. Pancras Church Gardens. It is and old church garden and one of my favorite photos too. St Pancras is an area between Camden Town and Kings Cross/St Pancras railway stations. Someone may have already mentioned that in the comments but I haven't read all of them yet. I do not know when the church itself was built but maybe you can do a search for it. Regards David from London.

Another amazing reissue that's still available is 'Yellow Submarine'. It has a blue cover and is the same album that was released in the 90's. It's NOT the soundtrack album with George Martin's instrumentals on side B. Anyway, it sounds incredible and it's affordable. Thanks for this special focus on the Red and Blue!

The Yellow Submarine Songtrack is a very cool record for sure. That being said it’s a completely different beast. It’s a digital remix, and as good as that can sound (and it is really nice), it doesn’t have that analog vintage 60’s sound. Still an essential record to own. Thanks for the comment

Nice commentary and presentation. In addition to getting proper inner sleeves, consider investing in protective outer sleeves for the gatefold covers.

I just got to listen to my newly acquired Mono white album first pressing and holy shit I did not now how good or better that album could actually sound...

Unfortunately, the trend seems to be that LP & CD reissues in general are using a digital one-step as opposed to all analog as you mentioned with the 2014 Beatles In Mono box set. It is a whole arduous process in using an all-analog signal especially with older master tapes from the 1960s. The 1962-1966 & 1967-1970 do have that warm all analog amazing sound. Here's hoping future box sets and individual albums are released in original analog stereo & mono because people would certainly buy them!

I don't remember if you've talked about this in other videos, but it's interesting that the UK and US pressing from the 70s have their differences with the tracklist, like the whisper intro in 'I Feel Fine' or the James Bond intro in 'Help!'.

Both albums sound great. My 1970s German pressing of the blue album sounds a bit better to my ears than the 2014. They both sound great though for sure.

I'm glad you showed us the inner sleeves as they're much better looking than the ones in the 70s. Now I think I should get these as well. I also think the mono LPs should be reissued.

Despite these compilations being very generous to George Harrison... how did they miss out on Taxman ?!!

Thanks, i will look out for them. In the 70s i had the red and blue vinyl pressings but i was playing them on a horrible kiddie record player that was probably scooping out the poor grooves...

I thought the blue LP was shot by Linda McCartney. I have the 1973 Apple, later Capitol on the Blue LP, and the 2014 analogue pressings, now the Red CD of the Giles Martin remix, not the blue Giles M CD since owing all the other remixes from Sgt. Pepper on.. (CD and LP) The Beatles themselves preferred the mono pressings as a 4:1 ratio of time mixing the mono over stereo LP pressings. The mono pressing had band input to the sound desired, with virtually no input to the stereo mixes as an after thought. The two LPs in stereo only were “Let it Be” and “Abbey Road”

7:12 When I would look at the photo on the inside of the gatefold as a kid, I would always wonder how the one kid got inside the fence. Even the Beatles were outside the fence, but one boy is inside, and another kid is looking at him. Lol

Great video, very informative, thank you! The 2014 pressing of the red and blue that you own, were they made and printed in the USA or EU? Thx Vito from Montreal

The EU, typically the sticker will say Made in Netherlands

I agree with you If Apple Records did a analog stereo mix of the Red and Blue greatest hits albums on Vinyl it would sell well. I would do 500 of each on 180g colored Vinyl as a half speed master 5k 180g black vinyl half speed master and everything else on 180g vinyl. If Room I would pick various outtakes from the studios or Beatles members solo work in the run-off or something from the red in the run-off of the blue album. I would have the 500 copy run with both I would not sell them individually.

If you buy the Blue Album chances are they are made in Canada versions which many people say are digital source. The ones you have are probably EU pressings and are analog.

Love this video. I have one very minor disagreement with you. The song selection on the Blue album is perfect and definitely fairly represents George. However, the Red album is another story. The Revolver album and George could have been better represented by including Taxman. There was certainly room for it. And they could have included I Need You. As is, George was not represented at all on the Red album. Anyway, I’m being super nit picky I know .

@MichaelAnderson-nm5oj

It's easy to confirm which pressing to buy to make sure that you get the true 2014 pressing and not the Canadian 2018 reissues. Simply look at the hype sticker on the front of the album -- if the word is spelled "Analogue" you're golden. If it's spelled "Analog" it's a hard pass. And of course you can look at the back copyright text to confirm that the only year noted is 2014 and that it was pressed in the EU. You should update your video because the copies at US stores (especially Barnes and Noble) are generally the "to be avoided" Canadian pressings. You might lead your US viewers down the wrong path.
