Teddy, at 54 years old I'm just "getting into" watches, after raising 4 kids and finally finding myself with a bit of disposable income to spend on myself. I stumbled up your channel quite by accident and have found your videos to be so incredibly helpful as I navigate this journey. Thanks very much for this exceptional content.
It honestly makes me feel GREAT that I’m 33, raising 3 children, in love with watches I can’t afford and therefore can’t attain and enjoy, and a 54 year old guy is finally able to spend some of his sweat on himself and is HAPPY! It makes it a lot easier to to enjoy viewing and learning, and take my time to save up and get pieces I will really enjoy. PS; cheers to you for making your children your primary expense for as long as you have and sacrificing things you obviously wanted, and waiting until your children could carry themselves. You’re a good man, a good father, and I LOVE sharing hobbies with people who have such honourable trait’s. May you be blessed with your favourite JLC, Vacheron or A. Lang soon ❤️
Well done, Sir. Raising 4 kids, I take my hat off to you. I wish you an enjoyable journey in the watch world. Me, I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum, having had my first kid this year, aged 52. God willing, he might get siblings, so it's a good thing I managed to build my collection as disposable income dries up.
Love moon phases. The Lange 1 moon phase is, IMHO, the most beautiful watch I have ever seen. It’s stunning. I wish more companies would adopt the day/night complication behind the moon. It’s exquisite.
Its a shame that only the Lange 1 moon phase looks that good, I wish all of Lange's moon phases looked like that. Its a completely moot point of course since I won't be able to afford any of these but I wish the Langematik perpetual, , datopgraph perpetual, saxonia annual calendar and saxonia moonphase had the moon phase from the lange 1 instead of their normal moonphase. The blue us much more rich and the stars are painted with much greater detail on the lange 1 compared to their other moonphase offerings.
That Raymond Weil is gorgeous, and actually quite affordable - under $1,000 from some sellers. And 9.8 mm thin, which I want to see in a dress watch. The version with the grey-black dial is stunning - that one goes straight onto my wish list.
Crazy I just wrote on one of his recent vids that I just got a Raymond Weil moonphase. White face maestro and for the price it is a really really good value
I love and own the Longines Master Calendar Chrono for its Moon Phase, but also for all the other complications it comes with blended together in one beautifully designed elegance of a watch. It is a great value for the price for a classic moon phase watch.
Nice content Teddy. My favorite is the Master Calendar from JLC. The jumping date hand 15-16, is a hidden complication just to highlight the moon phase even more
12:13 So glad that you included the Rolex Cellini Moonphase watch. That one is my favorite out of the entire Rolex collection and so underrated. It's really the only watch in their Cellini line that is generally not available at authorized dealers and you need either be on a wait list or pay a little bit above retail in the secondary market to obtain one immediately.
The orient star contemporary moomphase is really nice too! Similar texture as the zenith on its regular production models and fairly sporty too. In the metal, the finishing is amazing! I got my Limited MOP "nebula" dial one for the equivalent of 875USD and I'd say that the fit and finish is approaches gs levels (70-80% maybe??). Great time piece! Though some don't like the open heart and power reserve, I really like how they all come together on this piece. Worth checking out!! I also really like the white and black textured dial versions of this, but I gotta say I like the nebula is my fave
I really appreciate the value proposition of the Longines piece, and every time I see both the GO and the Lange, my heart skips a beat. Thank you, Teddy. Could you at some point do a deep dive into Longines’ dress watches for men? Again, thank you.
Moonphases are super useful for Muslims, especially during Ramadan, Eid and other Religious observances as they use a moon calendar. Also useful in predicting tides.
Wow, Teddy. U are absolutely right. The Lange at the end is gorgeous. The contrast and negativ space is amazing. Thanks for your videos. Keep up your great work!!
My first and only moon phase was a Certina DS-8 Chrono Moon phase. It's only a quartz, but Swiss quality. Beautifully done with a many layered dial really makes it pop. But what really set it off for me was the moon phase calendar. It shows the day of the moon phase as well as the Qtr, first, full, last Qtr, and new moons which makes it really cool. I was surprised no perpetual calendars were on here. The Frederique Constant is on my list!
I love the JLC, the most immaculate and elegant example of a moonphase watch I have seen. I'm looking at the more modest Oris Artelier Complication, along with some of the examples you gave, such as the Junghans, Longines, and Raymond Weil.
My favourite complication! Adds a lot of elegance to the dial, and I actually use it… I’m definitely saving this video. Some great suggestions to consider, I’ve been wanting a moonphase for quite a while
Teddy is the master at variety, showing us different styles, different watch makers, and unique watches that we should know about. Excellent content, as usual.
Two moonphase watches are my favorites. The shown JLC Master ultra thin moonphase and the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712. Especially the white gold version. This has such a cool and Understatement style.
I bought the Glycine with blue dial about 2 months ago for 400$. Really a good deal. Finishing is impressive for this level. You are right to say it wears smaller.
I have a Chr Ward Moon Glow on order, when it is on your wrist the 3D moon effect is stunning, really beautiful and you can get it with a complimentary 'bling" Milanese bracelet 😀
I'm very happy with my Glycine Combat Moonphase. I have the other version without numbers but with lume, and I can't recommend it enough. Super comfortable, great bracelet and solid, reliable movement. Great everyday watch.
I love the moonphase complication. I also need it as a healthcare worker, full-moon night shifts are to be avoided at all costs. I have been eyeing the Raymond Weil Moonphase for a while. Waiting to find the ideal excuse to pull the trigger. Great videos Teddy. Regards from Malta.
As always. Very nice, informative and entertaining. I would like to make 2 remarks. Moon phase complications can be very useful in cultures that observe lunar calendar. I use it all the time for this purpose. Which brings the second point. I had surveyed the market 2 yrs back and chose the CW moonglow for practical and aesthetic points. The practical point being the ability to read the lunar date with ease.
My wife got me the Oris Artix Complication Moonphase (black dial on a black leather strap) for our wedding about 5 years back. I think that it's amazing value for money, and is just outstanding quality overall. :)
Nice video! I always wanted a moonphase, and I think you should also mention one of Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch with moonphase, just to be complete. Most of them were too big at 44 and 45mm for my taste, however. I am hoping Omega comes up with smaller (42mm or less) moonphase speedmaster soon!!
Cool fact about the JLC - there’s a collab option with JBL that includes a Bluetooth speaker right in the watch. Plugs in with your standard phone charger on the side w a rubber cap cover.
Hi Teddy, I am very late to the party but I immediately thought about the Glycine Moonphase and you showed it first . I have the Glycine in a dark blue and love it. I had a Airman but never adjusted to the 24 hour dial. This Glycine Moonphase I consider as the very best buy I got and it is in my rotation solidly along with two Seamasters and some other very popular watches. To top it off I purchased the Glycine new for $300 a couple years ago. I love your Ball moonphase. Thanks for your excellent presentation as always.
Also love the Edox Les Vaouberts Moonphase 80505 - 42mm with Sellita movement - economical and great finishing. But of the above, the Meistersinger attracts me.
That Lange 1 moonphase is gorgeous. I like the G.O. for 1/4 the price, although the curve on the large date indicator, compared to the squared off windows of the Lange, may be something that I can't 'unsee'. Thanks for the review Teddy!
One gorgeous moonphase watch is the Christiaan van der Klaauw Real Moon Joure, which has the most accurate 3D moonphase in the world and only needs to be adjusted once in 11.000 years. :) It's a beautiful design but as you can imagine it is not cheap. Van der Klaauw watches specialise in astronomical complications.
Thanks for this video Teddy. I’ve been interested in astrology for over a decade and knowing the moon phase at any time of the month is critical for certain types of astrology readings. I’ve looked at the Christopher Ward one for a while and I may pull the trigger on that one day.
Honestly, I fell in love with the Ball watch... it is such a beautiful watch, if it weren't for you Teddy, I would've never known that brand. I just made an offer for one exactly the same one you showed here. I find it stunningly beautiful and it makes me smile, that's what it all is about: it should make you smile :-)
A couple watches I’m shocked not to see mentioned: JLC Reverso Duoface Tribute Moon Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonphase I think I’ve even seen that JLC in one of your videos with Kevin. And then the moon phase on the moon watch? I know it’s not for everyone but I love the juxtaposition
Teddy I love your review and honest opinion. Keep up the good work mate. I have a Doxa watch, which I recently bought it there is not enough reviews on this.
Great content and crisp editing as per usual Teddy 👌. I love the moonphase but with other watches in my collection it just wouldn't stay accurate as an automatic. I went for the Tidal Moonphase by Sekoni and love it.
Great video. Love this complication and compare my watch depiction with the night sky all the time. I have one I haven't seen mentioned yet, the Xeric NASA Apollo 15 watch. GORGEOUS little watch that never ceases to make me smile!
love the moonphase complication, i also agree that it is by far the best complication in terms of visual appeal. My fav moon phase was actually one not mentioned in this video, the ball trainmaster moon phase, in either blue or black. Beautiful watch from a brand rich in history and has a great movement that's well decorated for the price range in my opinion. I also love the unique crown and their distinctive seconds hand and of course their use of trillium. No moon phase really competes for me personally until we get to the $10k range for the likes of the a. lange and zohne ect.
Dude I literally just got into watches 3 months ago, and I’m absolutely hooked! I’ve already planned out my collection from start to finish. I’ve even bought my first one, currently on the way! Thanks Teddy!
@@amgolfer3591 Hamilton Alpinist! Love the dial paired with the strap. Everything I’ve read about Hamilton is positive, and Teddy seems to think so too. I’m stoked!
@@_Aurelian_ I own Hamilton and never knew they had an "Alpinist" model? I own the Khaki Field and Teddy has praised thato one. There is the Seiko Alpinist of which I love for the price--great field watch. Hamilton makes amazing field watches as well.
@@_Aurelian_ The Seiko Alpinist is a great watch. You will not be disappointed my friend. Hamilton is another great brand to look at along w/Longines, Squale, Sinn, Fortis, Tudor and Omega....so many others. Fortis, Tudor and Omega are a more expensive, but great timepieces. Woth saving for. I am learning a lot w/my journey as well. Don't settle for just anything and take your time and save for truly great timepieces that fit your budget. Good luck as this is a great and addictive hobby.....
I'd say an honorable mention is the Longines 1832 Moonphase. Comes in a beige or black dial. Received the black one as a birthday gift and really enjoy the subtlety of the matt black dial in contrast with the shiny hour/minute markers, hands, and moonphase in certain lighting conditions.
I think my favorites are the Christopher Ward as well as Ball but not sure which model since Ball has more than one moon phase. I’m super excited I just ordered a Junghans Meister Chronoscope green dial from you!!!! Keep doing what you do Teddy!!!!
That A.Lange is the one to get if money was no object. Absolutely gorgeous looking watch. Same thing with the JLC, so elegant and clean! However, based on price alone, I’m currently considering the FC CLASSICS HEART BEAT MOONPHASE DATE FC-335MCGRW4P26 in green on green strap. Love how it looks and a lot of watch for the $$$
ALS, JLC blue dial (and cognac or similar colour leather strap), Glashutte...and that was before I even saw your list. So in other words, I think you killed it with your list.
I cant understand why Raymond Weil barely ever gets a mention from any channel. I only own one but the Moonphase here for example had the most beautiful dial and the price was fantastic. Also I have to give a big shout out to that Orient Sun and Moon, what brilliant value. I own an Oris Artelier Moonphase, white guilloche dial with Blue indices and strap, another beautiful watch that gets overlooked. You cant beat a Moonphase for elegance!
I like the Raymond Weil Maestro moonphase watch. It looks gorgeous and is relatively affordable. The version with the dark dial (not featured on this video) looks stunning in my opinion.
Teddy- non watch related; where are you finding your shirts? Great casual styles in cool colors with a good fit. Carry on with the solid watch lover content 🙏
Hi Teddy, another great video as usual. What’s your take on the 99.6M mondphase from D. Dirnblueth and Sohn. It’s a very micro brand by comparison, and still a secret gem I would call. I’ve waited 17 months for mine but it’s fantastically worth the wait :)
I do really like you content man! I just started getting into watches because the Fossil Watch my older brother gifted to me, sadly broke after a drop. (Quartz) Right now im looking at a Tissot Gentleman Quartz Version (T1274101105100 ). You content really has a lot of class and calmness. You are really making me buy a expensive watch! Atleast a 425 Euros is a lot for me. I know the word expensive in the Wourld of Watches is very critical. In Germany we say: Es liegt im Auge des Betrachters. Pls keep up your master work. I will go to a store near by and try the watch out. I dont know how long the bracelet has to be, so thats why.
I own that exact Glycine Combat. I agree its not the most elegant moonphase, but photos don't do that sunburst dial justice. I've found it to be a very solid everyday watch
You know, Teddy, I’ve been feeling like I need a moon phase watch in my life and hear you are reading my mind and giving me exactly what I wanted before I ever asked for it. You are the man!
The Lange is awesome--especially the newer ones with the day/night (am/pm) indicator behind the moon. I also like the Omega moon phase watches that have Buzz's footprint on the moon. That is cool too. Great video on one of the coolest complications out there.
I want that Christopher ward one, especially now that they changed the logo on the dial it looks so much cleaner. just wish the transparent screen was a bit less transparent
If you live in a region that uses both solar and lunar calendars, I tell you it's damn satisfying to see a full moon on a lunar holiday and actually see the moon phase dial match the calendar.
Seiko Premier Kinetic Direct Drive Moonphase Watch and older vintage seiko models are good and affordable , the JLC reverso moonphase is a beauty ....arnold and son has the best looking moonphase watch of the lot....the mestrisinger and christhoper ward watches are gorgeous must say.....orient star moonphase watch is also is also worth mentioning......nice to see....👍
Hey Teddy, loved the video! I wanted to ask you though, could you maybe do a review on some Phoibos watches? None of my favorite watch channels did a review on them (and there are very few reviews in general), and they seem quite good value for money so im thinking of picking one up but could use an expert opinion! Hope you see this, and if not, thanks anyways.
If I could choose only one watch it would be Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin. Sadly, $100k is a little out of my price range.
The Lange 1 Moonphase is top of my list if I really decide to indulge into another haute horlogerie piece. Just about perfect. And I agree with Teddy that it's probably the pick of the entire Lange 1 collection.
Sir you have done videos on almost every thing about watches and each video is very informative my sincere request is you should do a video on Titan edge watches which I feel would be appreciated thanks god bless
