great set up Jake. I hope the views pick up, your channel is always great and I don't understand how you have 750,000 subs and get so few views. I hope things pick up, always great content.
Been thinking about motovloging in Florida, used to watch you years ago and looked you up. Appreciate the detailed setup man Definitely will be using this!
protip for working with Sugru: have a bit of water handy to dip your fingers in, or just a wet rag. not for the initial placement, but for the smoothing down of the edges and blending in with the helmet surface. with a matte black finish like on this helmet, you can make it blend really nice and almost look like it was molded there from the factory. i have a helmet with a Sugru mounted chin mount that held on at 150mph for years and still looks great. and i didn't do any pre sanding either. i would be worried that alcohol might mess with it chemically, so aside from the pre-cleaning, i would steer clear. it's not necessary anyway. Sugru will wipe off pretty easily, especially with a wet rag.
My setup, surprisingly, worked well in an unexpected downpour on my way to deals gap (see latest short). I have some gummy plugs to wrap around the USB C cable for when I KNOW I am riding into rain, but after that experience I am less paranoid about rain as is.
I just wrote a lengthy comment and it disappeared? Oh well, again... Nice video! The mic you were using was the Sena boom mic. Which was my recommendation to spicy, which was his recommendation to you. We rode together for 2(?) years while I lived in the UK. His 125 videos encouraged me to start motovlogging actually. My experience on cameras so far after 9 years of motovlogging: Ghost-S was great. Insane battery life, great audio. Quality is not sufficient nowadays. Sony X3000. Great camera, needs a volume control for good audio. Unfortunately my unit went blurry after a drop. OIS design flaw. GoPro is just too unrealiable, ditched. One RS is great overall but audio quality was not satisfying to me. Wireless connection to record sound directly from intercom, quality also not great. I made a video on how to connect the units. X2 great wireless intercom audio, but bluetooth connection unreliable. I sometimes sat in the driveway for 5-10 mins just faffing with the silly bluetooth. DJI Osmo Action 3 is my current camera. You might need two adapters for good audio, but the overall package and handling is the best for me at the moment. It supports wireless intercom audio, too. But that means no quick capture, which is a must for me (as it is for you). Feel free to check out my latest video on the DJI Osmo Action 3. The auto generated english subtitles are surprisingly OK. Greetings from Germany
Wow you’ve had about as many as I have haha. The most reliable I ever had was the old drift stealth 1080. Funny it was called stealth, it was huge! The insta360s haven’t had good external mic audio until recently. If you have a One RS with the current firmware then you’ll get what I have now.
@@TheGardenSnake Thanks, nice to know. I have donated all my Insta360 cameras to Ed March over at c90adventures in Utah. You should know his channel? Hope he puts them to good use!
Pretty nice setup! I keep my gopro4 as it is cheap, doesnt overheat and gives me a crispy clean adaptive audio. Just hoping insta360 updates the audio so that it doesn't react to volume changes so quick. It raises the engine volume between words! Its a bit uncomfortable. When they fix this, i will do the change! Nice vid, can you tell us more about the audio? I mean. Config, eq...
Only other thing in the camera I’m doing is running it at -6db. I do a simple eq in editing for voice enhancement. Just a basic curve really. If you have an insta360 update the firmware. They just recently did a change that make the audio better like you’re hearing here.
I Have very similar setup with my insta 360 One Rs but I find the audio in windy condition always struggle, recently just got the DJI Osmo Action 4 I think the audio is much better also the video slightly better more natural colors. I am still experimenting with mic gain adjustments -12 db works best so far. I don't use the external battery as I have enough batteries to last for long time, in my opinion battery bank is way too much weight on the helmet. easier to pull over and swap the battery if I have to.
I'd like to use the insta 360 as a dashcam for insurance purposes, but the 10sec buffer between video resumption is a little worrying. Chances are, I'd just have one of those days where I'm shit out of luck and an incident happened within that 10 second gap lol
Great video! I've gotta LS2 modular helmet and been trying to fix my setup without hearing so much wind noise. Where can I order a boom mic to fit into my "purple panda" lapel mic? I know it will better next yr, I'm going to oder a wireless mic setup to work with my GoPro.
I actually just returned my duale carbon. It's way too bulky, a bit heavy, and the wind at anything g over 40 loves to snatch your head. Ended up getting a shoei rf sr and it's miles better for 100$ more
My main complaint with Sena and why I won't be returning to Sena is that they aren't waterproof. I've had so many water intrusion issues with Sena in the past. Cardo all the way now.
@@TheGardenSnake I'm definitely not a fan of the subscription based service they are offering now but I'll stick with my Packtalk for as long as it'll last.
Yo jake, quick question. If i remember correctly, you had the Scorpion ADX1/2 before (i think is called EXO AT950/960 in the US??), what did you think about it. I was going to go for the Bell MX9 MIPS Adventure, but i am really atracted by the flip up Scorpion. Any real reason as to why you dont run it anymore or?
Hey jake I've got a question about one of your older videos, on the xr650r supermoto build #14, the dual sport kit on bajadesigns is called the headlight kit now and I'm not sure if thats the same kit you got with the headlight and taillight or if it only includes the headlight
They don’t make the bike specific kits anymore. You can still get all the components I believe but it’s not on a plate behind the headlight. You gotta kind of pieces together yourself.
Does your promo code only work with a few items? When I tried to use it I got the dreaded, "The promo code you entered does not exist or is invalid for your order."
@@TheGardenSnake what resolution is he at? 4k? At 1080p my Hero 9 is quite hot already but never overheated. And oh btw. Have you looked at the 550 performance products? A lot of CRF300 users buy their stuff
