On January 4th I celebrated my birthday by going on a hike that I have wanted to do for quite some time.. Kelly and I left early to hike from Rain Forest Adventures, here in Jacó , Costa Rica, to the town of Lajas, Carara, and check out the restaurant up there that boasts to have some of the best views around!
This hike is 11 miles/ 17.7km in total length and is uphill the entire way to the restaurant except for a few small sections. This route has a lovely waterfall, many incredible lookouts along the way and plenty of gorgeous plants, including several Anthuriums, Philodendrons and Monsteras.
Once we arrive to the restaurant Rancho Shadday (also known as La Cocina de Doña Marta), we are blown away by the views and the service! We order a typical Costa Rican breakfast and coffee. Before I knew it I was approached with the suggestion I partake in a local birthday custom. If you want to see what that is, you'll have to watch the video! It's one I have never heard of and will make you laugh!
