For Zelda it's very obviously Phantom. It's crucial in granting her stage control and makes her ledgetrapping potent.

Phantom shines the brightest on stages like smashville and especially tnc. The way the platforms are set up on tnc is so great for zelda cuz phantom slash hitbox is the strongest at the top of the blade. When positioned correctly, it covers all options on the platform and stage too, tech roll out even. Its a strong conditioning tool as well if you know how to use it

I think looking at moves in context of the characters kit is so dumb, because it should always be the recovery move. If I have to play shiek without needles or vanish I’m always choosing my up b

I think we should vote for recovery moves only if they are a particularly good recovery tool that makes one of the main strenghts of the character, or if it has insane utility outside recovery.

By that logic if the best move is the recovery move then yoshi's jump is his best move? You're gonna spam vanish against your opponent? Are you gonna recover through the whole matchup? Your best move is the one that gives you the best chances to WIN, not just to survive.

@@SergE1020DI helps, but it's not a guaranteed get out of jail free card. The main reason why the move isn't her best in my opinion is because it's not safe on shield

@@Greeds_it's still not the safest move on shield, and you're relying on a sweet spot unlike forward tilt. Down tilt is still good for kill confirms and combos out of jab, but f tilt I'd say is easier to combo into

Needles to usmash, bouncing fish, ftilt, and sometimes your saving grace in matchups like Yoshi/GnW where you can't do the usual Sheik gameplan. Also enables her ledgetrapping and edgeguarding. Totally agree

@TwinHacari While I do think needle camping is important, it suffers a little from opportunity cost. You definitely don't camp for the reason most characters camp, you use it for conditioning and rarely for the damage. Otherwise, you're using it in exchanges to win... 6-10% for a full clip. Meanwhile, opponent is learning you more in neutral so when they get an opening, they're getting 40% or higher. I'd say the usual plan is getting chip damage in for the first 20% because most combos don't work at that %, then after you're doing things like draggdown loops, knee hitbox ftilt/grab/dtilt into air strings with some needle pressure, into looking to close the stock with confirms. There was an older YT channel that analyzed VoiD's use of needles to win against Maister's GnW, and I think Eim at his peak also played a similar playstyle of being very patient and getting chip damage in. But I think optimized, modern sheik currently needs to take advantage of routes with bigger rewards except in matchups where that doesn't work so well.

Nah I give it to bouncing fish. Needles dose help with combos but it can’t kill unless you do needles into bouncing fish. For a character that is hard to get kills, bouncing fish is so important. It’s doesn’t only kill but it also adds to sheiks mobility and survivability. Sheik without needles still has the best neutral game. So I give the Sheiks best moves to a move that offers kill power and mobility/survivability, over a move that offers more neutral and combo confirms when she already has so many tools like that.

"needles doesn't kill" "needles to bouncing fish" ????? bro you just countered your own point lol. needles is way better than bouncing fish. way more versatile, has many kill confirms. you can use needles at almost any point whereas you cannot just spam bouncing fish like you can with needles. if you think bouncing fish is better I'm sorry but you just don't understand the game fully yet. a move being able to kill doesn't make it good. bouncing fish is great but you're lying to yourself if you think raw bouncing fish is better than needles into bouncing fish.

@@tashi32_ it can be argued that without bouncing fish her needle camping, and therefore neutral game are hindered. Without bouncing fish she cannot reliably escape the corner if she decides to charge needles, making needle camping a bigger commitment. Also without bouncing fish her recovery goes from top 3 in the game to maybe top 20. Also most of her kill confirms from needles almost always end in bouncing fish. I think that it’s important to recognize that needles and bouncing fish are so entwined that without one of these options the other option would be indirectly nerfed. I would personally say that needles are more important than bouncing fish, however, bouncing fish is likely her 2nd best move. If bouncing fish did not exist then I think her needles would be not be her best move for the reasons above. I would then say her best move would instead go to fair, uair, u smash, or maybe even up b.

You need needles to get kills with bouncing fish. Also needles sets up for combos, bouncing fish ends them, and sheik has multiple combo besides bouncing fish

Ok I change my mind. Needles is Sheiks best move. Needles dose also combos into a lot of kill option other than bouncing fish, which is her best kill confirm btw. In my defense though, needle play is more crucial for top plays than lower tier players like myself. I was speaking from experience.
