Lamb shank, chicken, chicken, chicken, anise in the rice and curry everything; I am exhausted!!! So glad I got a blackberry chili rotisserie chicken, from Publix. I also made macaroni salad to eat along with this video. I am a day late watching but, sooooo worth the food to eat along! Great video guys! Love that Jumi mmm, mmm, mmm, head turning!
Robert Stephens The flavors on that plate were so bold and explosive that your taste buds may be exhausted after! Started this off with a bang. Blackberry chili roast chicken? Now that sounds interesting! Sweet, spicy and savory. Always a smart move to eat before or during the video. Thanks a lot, Robert! Always enjoy reading your comments 😁
Wooo love the list of things you guys ordered at Tajuddin!! That ayam bawang and kambing kurma looks amazing! Damn, that ayam ros! Next time I got to order nasi tomato! What an epic Nasi Kandar video guys!
Thank you so much, guys! Glad you enjoyed this one. You can see why we came back to Tajuddin for those dishes - soo good and flavor-packed. Even ordering them without banjir was worthwhile
I like how excited you guys are with those Nasi Kandar. Greg is almost like rapping the list of ingredients! Yuuuup that fried chicken at Raffeeeeeee!!! Making me so hungry!! And next Deens!!! Argh!!! That nasi dalca!
Rapping the list of ingredients 😂😂 So glad we got to eat at Raffee together - so tasty after that epic day and night at Penang Hill. Nasi dalca was so good at Deens!
The last spot is really unique because the dishes came on separate plates. Haha "here you can banjir ourselves". Like it 👍 It reminds us of the way Nasi Padang is served in restaurants.
Explosive to describe Malaysian food in general is a perfect descriptive. Such a balance of flavors which is always so impressive. So we can only imagine how it is in the actual country.
It is unreal - there are so many dishes here that you can’t find in NYC, especially Malay food. The diversity here really plays a big part in why the food is so good
it fells off the bone, that has to be so damn good Greg and Jumi! Great selection on those Nasi Kandar. and the drink seems very interesting with the onions and the cumin.
The Mamuchos It was!! Thank you! Put a lot of research into this one and really wanted to make this a thorough and delicious video. The drink was interesting with a sour flavor
Hopefully we can go to Malaysia in the near future and eat with you two!! The food always looks so delicious and the descriptions have us drooling over here :D
Nasi Kandar is now something I can spot thanks to your videos. Usually i just end up eating things not knowing what they are called. Usually I only eat Okra in Filipino Food. Some of the names are similar to Tagalog (goat and onions)
Nasi kandar is one of our favorite dishes we’ve had here so far. Okra is nice to add in some veggies to the meal here. There’s some overlap with Bisaya and Malay words here too
As always your videos are edited so well and the commentary is very good too! Would be nice if you added the prices too - that'd be helpful for toher people :)
D intro is very good, a brief history of nasi kandar. Few footages like d street art, d Penang Indian Muslim mosque etc will highlight where u r. D food critiques r excellent. No doubt about that.
Good point - been trying to find a good balance of adding scenery without making it too long. Some of our older videos would drag on a bit longer and it would show with people clicking off sooner
@@FoodandFootprints I just like to see your videos made in Malaysia be as successful as d most viewed (Sri Lankan food in NYC). U have all d wonderful footages, make them to your advantage.
Hey Greg and Jumi!! We always love you're eating stuff we've never seen or tried before. Love this beautiful spread of food!! Love the Lamb shank! Jumi looks like she enjoyed it too! This place you went to that it's your second time there. We LOVE chicken, and we ould definitely get that! Especially when it's fried!! YUM!! Awesome bite of that fried chicken Greg!! The place you went to that had the dal!! We would definitely try that for sure. Love that the curries are so fragrant! Great video and thanks for taking us with you on this amazing food adventure!! Much love!!
Malay food in Penang also taste nice, you can check out Malay food at Minah Restaurant in Gelugor or Bayan Baru Food court. Open for lunch only, better go to these place before 12.00pm, before the crowd build up.
Chiang Cheng Kooi Unfortunately we didn’t have as much Malay food as we wanted in Penang, but would like to explore more next time. Thanks for the suggestions!
Man, I got to go visit uncle at Mohd Raffee today afer watching this... :) By the way, do you notice that the person dishing out the curry is also important. A good server knows what good curries and the right amounts go together on your rice. :)
You are so right! There is definitely an art to the mix of flavors of the curries. Always enjoy watching the joki do his work. Mohd Raffee is so good! We may have gone there the most out of all the nasi kandar places during our stay. The fried chicken was amazing!
Sorry, had to skip through so many parts of the vid. Too much self torture otherwise. I was drooling at the screen... sigh Awesome vid, of course. Will have to re watch on full stomach :D
U guys tasted so many types of nasi kandar dishes? Which r your fav? D lamb shank, d spicy fried chicken, d rose chicken, d kurma mutton, d seafood curry?
If u like lamb shank, do try secret recipe's lamb shank. It's quite delicious too. Secret recipe shops r all over Malaysia. Secret recipe r known for their wonderful cakes n cheesecakes. Reasonably priced too.
@@FoodandFootprints come to my hometown melaka and try the best popiah stall located infront of (madam king's mall) and then walk for 10metres and have some authentic local sotong kangkung by the roadside with a small stool on the alleyways (similar to vietnam seating)
I would like to suggest Greg to stop posting when im about to sleep - well actually he didnt, it was my fault watching it so late.. ayam kapitan.. how many nasi kandar have you eaten now greg? dont you think you had enough making people drool! :P hahaha - Im a fan of the Fried chicken at Mohamed Raffee Nasi Kandar - man that rice is so wet.. its heavenly i bet all them juices..
😂😂😂 Ate probably around 20-30 nasi kandar during 5 weeks in Penang. Oh man that fried chicken was so good! We ordered it a few more times just by itself for lunch too. Heavenly is right!
OMG we loved Hameediyah nasi kandar although their prawn was a surprising RM24! Paid RM30 for one plate of nasi kandar. One of the most expensive meal in Malaysia for us...still good and still worth it though!👍
JetLag Warriors Yesss Hameediyah was incredible! Haha we also splurged there. Those lamb shanks were 30RM each but they were SO worth it. It can get very expensive if you load up on those luxurious sides like prawns, lobster and lamb shanks. The flavors are so bold and delicious
Haha I love Nasi Kandar and 1 rasam is not enough for me and love so many of the dishes at Nasi Kandar but yes prices not cheap so I seldom choose lamb unless the outlet is famous for lamb too...seafood too have to be very very selective if I not feel like overspending..
Lamb shank rice in an Afghani restaurant here in Munich cost me €15 or RM72... so RM30 for a lamb shank curry in Penang is such a bargain... and probably tastes better too!!

Nasi Kandaaaaarrrr, so jealous!!! I seriously miss having Nasi Kandar, KL can't compare to Penang! Those curries....That lamb shaaank.... you guys are officially the Penang Nasi Kandar experts!!
Oh man nasi kandar in Penang is truly something special! Glad we got to eat such a wide variety of it. That lamb shank was SO worth splurging on 😋 Thanks, guys! We really wanted to make this video a thorough guide
Two Hungry Diners Definitely! We actually went here with Puri and Sue the first time after a long day at Penang Hill with a big appetite and loved the fried chicken right away
Firstly great B-roll intro.. oh wow! Secondly.. omg you guys are making me salivate for my Penang Nasi Kandar fix... argghhhh! Also Jumi with that lamb shank... Priceless! LOL!
You are where I want to be and eating what I want to eat. I am so jelly. Kambing is my favorite kind of meat. I noticed you did not have any fish dish?
Minnie C. Kambing is one of our favorites too. The nasi kandar here was so special and made sure to eat lots of it during our 5 weeks in Penang. It is true, we didn’t eat much seafood at the nasi kandar spots. Just ordered squid at Deens Maju. Hopefully you can come back to Malaysia to visit again when things open back up
@@FoodandFootprints I also love fish head curry. How about you? Penang is truly a food mecca. Never had a bad meal there. I used to live in the Tanjung Bungah area 2 yrs.
We love fish head curry too! Had an incredible one in KL our first week and another delicious one in Ipoh. So true - Penang has an incredible food culture. Ohh Tanjung Bungah - we passed by a few times on our way west. There was a Nasi Melayu place on our radar there but we never got around to going
The lamb shank was incredible! Well worth splurging on considering how big the portion was and the flavor. Very easy to go overboard with side dishes for nasi kandar
