This looks great! It would be really awesome if they could somehow simulate the multicart MVS when switching games, using a single button to switch games.
Great coverage, seems like a great product, and a definite improvement over the original. I'd actually be more interested in a cart with just the RAM option if it saved a decent amount on cost, but I guess it's useful to flash the huge games once and then be able to load them instantly later. The RAM slot is always free for smaller games that flash 'quickly' anyway.
I have the original NeoSD and I'm extremely happy with it. I have the fastest SanDisk card you could by a couple of months ago and the longest I have to wait is about one and a half minutes to load a game, which to be honest is a fart in the dunny compared to most PS4 and Xbox One games, lol.
Thank you for the in-depth overview. I was wondering if these can be used on stock AES consoles without the Uni BIOS installed. Looks like it can work.
Hello Todd, I was on BackInTimeSime's channel and was truly amazed on seeing you on his video regarding Samurai Shodown II.. When I saw the description, I was astounded to know you were there and have to say it really caught me off guard. But of course, I was glad to see you with good ol' Sime He's a cool dude for sure. Really enjoyed you talking about your memories with the game and discussing about how you and your pals use to go to arcades in the 1990's to play SFII, Mortal Kombat, Samurai Shodown, etc. I can relate to those memories as well since I was a 90's kid growing up. It's an experience you wish to relive those precious moments. Sime posted the video on, The Official NEO-GEO Thread on Atariage.com He's a new member on there and we would be honored to have you aboard yourself posting away with us. 8*) The video is on post #14,604 for you to view. atariage.com/forums/topic/223548-the-official-neo-geo-thread/page-585#entry4020826 Thank you for participating with Sime once anew Todd. Always a pleasure to see you in action and sharing your works to help give additional exposure for you bro. 8^) Anthony..
Awesome just wish it wasnt so expensive! Its almost the same price as a consolized mvs system! Almost 1000 dollars when you combine the price of the mvs and the flash cart just to play neo geo games! Kinda crazy but if your a neo geo addict then its totally worth it! Also much better than paying those high prices for those carts!
LOL, I'm about to build my own MVS for about $250 dude. Build your own, honestly.... I don't think anyone who cannot build their own, deserve one. For real.
Or buy a used PC for $100, a 27" Sony Trinitron with component inputs off Craigslist for $20, and play every Neo Geo game perfectly with GroovyMAME with virtually no load times. Gee, whatever shall I do?
Is this thing allows you to download games in its memory SD chip & it makes you save your settings rather than doing it over & over again? or its something else?!
Another great video, Todd. As I wait for my consolized MVS to be built, here I am worrying that it no longer makes sense to purchase a flash cart like this given the recent attention on downloading ROMs from sites. Any idea where I can find Neo Geo ROMs now?
You're a n00b in too many ways. "Wait for my consolized MVS to be built"? n00b. Don't know the ROMS are still available from EmuParadise.... n00b. Just n00b all over.....
Hey Todd! Great post. Just curiosity regarding your Neo Geo stick. Are those 24mm Sanwa buttons? How do you like them modded that way? Thinking about doing the same.
Yep, they sure are. I initially tried to use 24mm Seimitsu buttons in it, however I found that they kept binding when pushing them down. If you didn't hit the Seimitsus dead in the center of the button, they would catch going down. Replaced them with the Sanwa buttons and never had that problem again. I've actually been meaning to do a video on upgrading the buttons on the AES stick. Thanks for reminding me. :)
Todd's Nerd Cave Sir, thanks for the reply; much appreciated. Also have you thought about inserting “weights” at all? The old stick mod options are endless. Look forward to the episode and you’ve got yourself a new sub 👍🏼👌🏼🤙🏼
sputnikmusic I had never thought about weighing down the old style stick. However I can see where someone might want to do that. Might have to experiment with that.
I haven't used Darksofts cart yet. I might end up borrowing one from someone to review. If I do, expect a head to head face off between theirs and the NEOSD Pro.
@@ToddsNerdCave Nice! i'm def. on the lookout for that, i would love to be able to try my hands at porting something interesting on the Neo (time permitting) and let it out for everyone to enjoy this amazing console for many years to come.
Hello, I'm new to the Neo Geo scene and just recently found out about the NeoSD lineup. The pro definitely sounds like a great investment compared to collecting the really expensive library of real carts, but I have a question about the NeoSD Pro. Does TerraOnion plan on making this for both MVS and AES like the original NeoSD was? I want to play using an AES but if I can't get the Pro for one then that might affect my final decision. Consolizing an MVS is out of my skill set and buying one already consolized would be more expensive than a standalone AES.
Oh my goodness Todd!! Such an informative and greatly detailed video regarding the NeoSD Pro by you. Glad that TerraOnion gave you the opportunity to try this baby out to express your impartial thoughts on this upcoming item to be sold to the public. Well done bro. Glad that you shared this with us for Neo-Geo players like myself to be convinced even more on why we should acquire it from TerraOnion. I posted this on the Neo-Geo thread on Atariage.com to be amazed just like myself on what you mention in the upload. It's on page 563, post #14,071 for you to view. Here's the link atariage.com/forums/topic/223548-the-official-neo-geo-thread/page-563#entry3993175 Thank you again Todd. Always a pleasure to see what you offer on your channel and to the community. 8^) Anthony..
are there games already available on the neoSD pro when we insert it in the console or not?? this is very unclear...or do we have to manually flash them all on the card before being able to play ? Thanks
is this cartridge has save features to save your progress like the neo geo memory card ? or is it support save state i did lot of search in the neosd site and forums and never find the answer?
@@OoTigerEyeoO ah thanks for the response, so only the progress & not the setting, cool bro, I actually ended up purchasing the Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro, might receive it next month, because I was really confused, no proper justifications between the AES, MVS & ASP. It's like you are lost in China electronic market. My main reason to buy the ASP it's because of the hassle free, just plug & play with HDMI 😂
Sounds a lot like the other solution on the market that you all spent months hating on..... The hypocrisy is thick in the air. However it does look like a well designed product. No doubt all the people who bought the original NEOSD will be stoked. Whats that saying..... "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".
GadgetUK164 txt me on WhatsApp telling me this video was up, awesome work Todd, but you've totally confused me! My AES original isn't even a year old yet only got it in July, I dont think its left my AES cart slot once since its arrival. Just dont know what to do... keep, sell and upgrade...? As I said great video mate! MJ
BOX-BREAKER haha I can totally understand that. I would wait till they announce the price. Perhaps then it will help you make a decision if you want to upgrade or not.
+ToddsNC Good Idea! Does look sweet mind but its that problem with price especially after spending so much on the original, I mean £450-550 isn't small change, its like half a months wage for some people! But yeah your defiantly right, I think it'll be a price thing for sure that makes my mind up wether to pull the trigger and upgrade! As I said though Gadj sent me this vid, awesome coverage! ;) MJ
wow... How to recreate ... the loading of the Neo CD ....NOT... Impressive .... Thanks God, EVERYBODY already play Neo geo games (well pirated those games... like here). I'm always confused : why hardcore gamers , who pay top money to get AUTHENTICAL hardware are ready to buy this kind of hardware ? I know = play freely with any game.... sound more like the definition of piracy to me. i guess we need to rewrite the notion of copyright ... i don't think studios and developers will be very happy in the end....
ultra expensive, out of stock all the time, NO SAV, and my god the loading time !!... just grab a VORTEX 161in1 and forget this garbage !! for the love of god
ONE GAME? Useless. That's fucking dumb. Even 5 is just not enough. These should be designed to do ALL games or don't even bother. That's just silly. Considering the NeoGeo itself isn't doing shit when it comes to parsing the Roms... Why didn't they make it compatible with any sized SD Card and made to support folders and all Roms in oen folder. Seems lazy and intentional to me.
