The new Savage Gear SG8 100 is a phenomenal baitcasting reel that weighs in at 6.3oz. The SG8 is a nice compact size making it easy to palm and fish with for extended times on the water. It is also available in three different gear ratios (6:6:1, 7:3:1, and 8:1:1). It is an 8 bearing reel with a drag that goes up to 20lbs. It has a clicker mechanism for the drag similar to a spinning reel. It also has what is called Line ID which allows you to see what size line is spooled up on each one of your Savage Gear reels. It is also armed with a centrifugal braking system making casting into the wind a breeze. I'm thoroughly impressed with the SG8 and cant wait to see what I'll reel in with them this 2022 season!

Just picked up the SG8 and also an SG10 here in the UK. looking forward to getting out fishing when the river season starts again

I've been catching a lot of big perch in the trent, a couple of Jack pike as well even though I was targeting perch. Caught a tiny Zander last night using sg8 100 for the first time that was at a local canal, it's a nice reel.

Lovely bit of kit looking to get one myself was wondering I do mostly lure spinning fishing for like an anything from 10g to 30grams lures + spinners etcs would the 6.6.1 be ok for that sort of fishing thanks for the video

I used my new sg8 100 yesterday for the first time, it's a nice reel, tiny but holds a lot of line, I like all the clicks for tensioner knob, etc. It's a good quality reel, I've never owned a baitcast reel of a similar price so can't really comment on the value for money.

Mine just arrived. Are you running braid or fluorocarbon? Which do you feel it handles better now that youve used them for a few months?

Idk man. For 200 bones someone could get the new curado 150 mgl. This does look like a sick reel though. Savage gear is saying they’re making their own reels but this shares some of the same components as the kistler reels. Also the picture on their website shows the side plate having an external adjuster 🤔 weird

I have both. SG10 in size 250 is smaller in hand vs Curado 150DC. Better feel on the frame. crank&bait SG4 is perfect match. Mostly use Curado for shore fishing. If there is a need to send lures to a other continent it's the perfect tool. 10 yard precice shots I mostly use daiwa. Best in that.
