I used another cheaper version of this type of film cutter and it scratched the crap out of my negs. This version looks like an improvement. I just bought the JJC film cutter for about US$20 and it includes a light source. It's probably the simplest and nicest film cutter I've ever used.

Thanks for showing us how this works. I have seen this, and want one, but when I contacted the company in Germany, they responded that, unfortunately, this device was not for sale in the United States. How did you get one of these? Any tips on how to purchase in the US? Thanks.

Hi Charles, they have opened up US/Canada sales and they should have it in stock ready to go directly from their website!

Ishkhan, took note of the idea of rewinding the film with rubber rings.

Cool product, I though it would be a lot more expensive. Right now i'm just using a mini card trimmer off amazon, but maybe a future upgrade for me.

$15 Staples guillotine cutter does the same thing for 1/3 the price. I have never missed a cut with mine.

It's what I was looking for! But can the blade be changed when it is worn out?
@ishkhanghazarian
@ishkhanghazarian Месяц назад
you should be able to contact Optik Old School and be able to purchase replacements on pretty much any part of the cutter including the blade!

Alright, I just emailed them and will let you know as soon as they get back to me. Ciao!@@ishkhanghazarian

here is their interesting answer. You can replace every single part of the Film Killer! We designed it for quick component exchange; no parts are glued or riveted. Thus, all parts are interchangeable. The main housing can be unscrewed from the bottom to facilitate part replacement. We stock all parts and will continue to offer them in our shop. Rest assured, the blade still cuts very well in our initial models, and we've already cut approximately 1000 films in our laboratory with it.

I’ve been cutting 35mm and 120 negs up with scissors for 40+ years, what’s the problem? Looks like a solution in search of a problem. Rolling negs along a surface risks scratching the film. I’m sure equipment junkies will buy it, but a pair of scissors are much cheaper and will not scratch the neg.

"Unboxings" are boring and a waste of time. Many RU-vidrs don't consider that some viewers are on pre-paid mobile Internet.. so the bullsh*t is also a waste of money. >>> moving on. 👋
