England played poorly this match, made it look harder than it needed to be, top order did not perform at all , took the bottom all the work to win the game, I don't know why this is the "best odi" match, England could have easily scored 300+

At that time, the Roy-Hales combination was working brilliantly for England. But in September 2017, the Bristol incident occurred and Bairstow was given a chance in place of Hales. Jonny grabbed the opportunity and formed a fabulous combination with Roy. Now, the Roy-Bairstow combination is the best in the world but Hales is struggling to get a place in the team after another unfortunate incident: the recreational drug use!

How times change! After an excellent summer, Bairstow got some weird golfing injury, or so we are told. Just a few days later, Hales started a brilliant white ball comeback, culminating in helping England to win the t20 World Cup, with a commanding 86 in a 10 wicket romp as England thrashed India by 10 wickets with 4 overs to spare in that memorable semi final.

This ODI was never even in the running for the greatest ODI. The first one was the 1999 World Cup Semi-final between Australia and South Africa. The second was the 2006 Johannesburg ODI where South Africa responded to Australia's 434 with a 438. And then in 2019 we had the World Cup final between England and New Zealand.

Reminds me of when Buttler was scoring runs for fun, digging his team out of trouble, and looking like he could end up being one of England's greatest ever ODI players. Nowadays he can't stay in for more than 10 balls. Hope he finds his form again sometime.
