Today was just one of those days where things just fall into place perfectly. This morning I did a major reorganizing of my creative space, went home to clean off all of the dust I kicked up, had a wonderful meal in the park by the river, followed by an unintentional miscalculation of what was meant to be just slightly more than a microdose that wound up being a "dose." Rght around the time things were turning the corner and beginning that gentle descent this video selected itself after my playlist ended. This has been a truly wonderful listen full of relaxed and peaceful healing. A lot of crud that had accumulated in my mind and soul has been cleansed and released. This is my first time hearing Boards Of Canada and this album will forever hold a very special place in my heart.
This is the sound of a carefree, sunny upbringing in a stable, friendly neighborhood. Those background tones of modern convenience and entertainment brought to the fore and made music. I hope such a privilege becomes a right for all one day.
wow. that was beautifully put. how did you hear all that? does the music paint a vivid image in your head? I both admire and am jealous of your ability to express such a sentiment. all the best to you.
@@buddhahat my brother, don't just hear the music, listen to it, pay attention to how it makes you feel and the images that materialise from the sound, close your eyes and immerse yourself in that universe, it's bliss. that's how you come to appreciate these genres imo it's not like hearing it in the background while working you put your full attention to how the music makes you feel. And sooner than you realise you are in a meditative/trance state with no external thoughts and confusion plaguing your brain you just let yourself get transported from the music
@coupleodevs thanks for sharing how you experience the music, it is a great kindness. It sounds like I need some me time alone with just the music. Peace to you my friend.
But it is laced with this uncertainty, the notion of a looming heartbreak, a sorrow that delineates at the horizon. The inevitability of frailty while also bathing in this realization. This is what BoC is to me, the disconnection from the worldly ego and giving in to the fact that we are a vessel through which abundance seeks to speak freely and without inhibition. The removal of the self from all judgment and pouring into the inner streams that flows outward, no matter its tonality and voice.
Im 52 and have liked a lot of music in my life. Boc are special. i can't define it and i dont really want to. I just take them as they are and go with it. i love the albums but the rarities. the ones offs they are special. Im the same age as them so i really feell the nostalgia and their inspirations.
What I find just slightly strange, is that Male fans 'appear' to greatly outnumber Female fans. IF that is in fact accurate, then I find it odd because, it is a widely held belief / notion that women are far more connected to the emotional system, then to the counterpart which is the thinking 'mind'. For clarification between the two, I'll refer to the fact that what we THINK of something, is often in diametric opposition to how we FEEL about it. Understand? ~ The popular notion is that women are more inclined to deploy it (Feeling) than men, as a means of apprehending the world at large, in a manner that for them, is inherently more natural, and which they are a bit more capable. Whether, or how much of that notion is accurate, generally speaking, is likely unknown. I have no way to know for certain, but experience would seem to support that notion...However, certain stats, can be quite revealing. ~ BOC - without question, certainly do have an effect on the triggering of emotional responses, in many listeners, one that is quite beautiful and healing. If you are among those who experience a deeply moving feeling of beauty, and nostalgia almost too much to bear, Then Know & Remember this: ~The "EYE" sees Not Itself- But, by REFLECTION.~ One more thing. The most precious thing we have in this life, is our "Time". That is a FACT regardless of beliefs held currently. ~So it is very probable, that TODAY as in the present times, ARE the "Good Ole Days" ...Of Tomorrow... May we not, only find that out, WHEN, we have run out of time, on one of the days to come. May our destination be the journey itself. If we can truly make it so, then, and only then, shall time cease to exist, and no longer have hold of us... Otherwise, "...Everything We Do Is A Balloon..." ~~~ We ALWAYS are right HERE. Right NOW. ~~~
This is what being on LSD in the mountains sounds like. This duo is iconic and were one of the first ambient producuers to touch my soul. Track 3 with the child brings a tear to my eye everytime. This is art. It has depth and soul,.
My uncle died last night, in between of months his health conditions went down really fast. I was trying to help him to heal from long-distance but it took it's own way 🦅 Due to circumstances I haven't seen him for over 20 years, but was always looking forward to see him again. I don't feel guilty as I now life & death are transformative states of our beings and connection is boundless through time & space in universe. The music is now the instrument to go through all the pain of my ancestors and free them from their suffering, it was about time to be happen 🙏
You nailed it. I've been a huge fan of BoC since like 2003, when I was a teenager. This is def the best curated set of tracks imaginable, and mixed soo nice and warm and eerie together, just like we like it
The best video I’ve found on RU-vid this year. I listened to the Peel session of theirs live in 1997/8 and loved it. I’ve mostly been away from music since. Now after almost 30 years I looked them up again and everything they’ve released is top quality. Almost every song has an ear worm that replays in my head as I go about my day. Thank you DJ Adelaide, please do a whole discography.❤🔥🦚🪑
One ot the best albums I've ever listened to. I would've never thought this dynamic duo was making music that was extremely ahead of its time back in 1988. U got my like and sub right here. Cheers from Idaho
Nice work Adalaide- nothing but the best for the Caledonian Masters! (no pun intended) Electronic Music composed & produced like NO others- People will analyze their works for many years to come. The complexity of creating tracks with available hard and software of the 90's was truly daunting, a combination of analog editing, sequencing & sampling as well as studio instrumental performance, and finally or firstly- the musical compositions- yes they work with classical music theory. Boards of Canada. from Scottland. Believe. I'm wellin up.
Love the mix, really tough to add only one hour of their best tunes - also love the Untitled one at 48 mins - Machinedrum has a really good version of it that he recreated from scratch and also added some of the punters talking on the bg. Cheers!
OP also edited out the guy dropping a perfectly timed “what a treat!” a second before the audience goes wild. That is an essential part of the emotional release of that track.

I'm 24, t's one of the first sunny AND warm Fridays in Seattle right now, and I'm staring out the window, daydreaming of summer camping trips with friends and beers, but I'm at work right now (boooooo) and this video is providing the best soundtrack to reflect on how far I've come over the last few years and how the 17 year old version of me would be happy to see the person I've become
feel like an old cuck saying this but enjoy them days bruvva, 24 was such an awesome time... I'm 38 now and that feels like 10 mins but also somehow 10 lifetimes ago
Such a great vibe to this mix. Britain really does produce some talent. And that's coming from an American. Loving Boards Of Canada and also other various UK electronica based acts like Massive Attack, Faithless, Burial, Chemical Brothers, Underworld, UNKLE, Autechre, The Prodigy, Leftfield, Stereo Mcs, Apex Twin, Goldie, The Bug, AllFlaws
Imagine there is an easter egg in real life of listening to boards of canada in the boards of canada and then a secret room would open for you and you do alot of puzzles that the solution of them is a secret refrence to board of canada's tapes, and answer questions that secretly have the answer from the boarda of canada albums and tapes all to Finally get the secret albums.
The easter egg you get by understanding their music is tapping into deeper, universal truths to become a better person, a better human being, with the wisdom to live in harmony with the world around us. To avoid the path of destruction; envy and lust for albums you can’t have. When enough of us are ready, the brothers will release another album.
I love these tracks... All on high rotation. Can you post the track listing bookmarks again DJ Adeliade? They have dropped off the top comments list. Thanks!
@@stevecarter8810sounds kind of fucked up lmao, especially when 20-25 years later we have seen a bunch of small artists trying to almost « emulate » the style of BoC. to me they don’t even do just music, they also design mental places to visit
@@ax2781it's a bit like the stir that vaporwave made. Anyone who's habituated to what came before suddenly finds their listening habits don't work anymore, and lots of people get mad about the new thing when that happens. For BoC it was similar, the staticness of the progression, the lack of melody, harmony and lyric... Like putting a marble statue at the front of a movie theater instead of playing a film, people are gonna get mad, it doesn't mean it's a bad statue.
@@stevecarter8810 yeahhh so glad you're making the comparison with vaporwave . . . they'll always get their admirers and thats cool. like, everyone knows an "ugly" statue/piece of urban art that everyone hates except you. cool stuff, everything gets to be seen or heard i dont like to mental masturbate about genres or labels like ewww IDM (love braindance tho?) but i find it funny to allow it to be described as POST MUSIC hhh plus, BoC community is really an adorable one lets admit
im interested in buying a vinyl copie, but im not able to find Macquarie Ridge. Google tells me its on the campire album but i am not able to find it on the setlist. Anybody got some information on this ? thanks for the mix btw, this got me interested in Boards of Canada
I don't think you can buy vinyl with macquarie ridge on it, its on the japanese version of the cd and as far as i know there is no vinyl version of the album for Japan
