He was really giving it his all there. Rudisha pulled a lot of guys in his day to their best performances. Surprised not to see Amos in any of these. Unless I missed it.
When yu are athletically Godly gifted aint nothing no one can do but shoot for 2nd place. This youg man is gifted and yiu can see it when he runs. He has done what all the naysayers said couldn't be done. I love it when people like him show up. He's the GOAT when it comes to the 800 meters. I remember when edwin stepped on the scene in 1976 and made all the naysayers sgut up!!! The GOAT of the 400 meter Hurdles. They show up evey now and then and I love it.
Also that 2012 olympic finals race was the greatest field of 800m athletes ever assembled. One person ran under 1:41seconds, 2 people ran under 1:42 seconds, 5 people ran under 1:43 seconds, and all 8 people ran under 1:44 seconds. The last place finisher who, I believe, ran 1:43.77 would have won 3 other world championship 800m races with that time!!!!!
It's too bad he didn't run under 1:40, since, I think, he would have been one of the few could have done it. Remember he didn't have anyone to push him back in 2012. He was the rabbit in that race!!!!! If it hadn't been for some personal issues and some injuries........maybe he would've run under 1:40. I wonder how long his world record will last? I wonder how long it will be until someone breaks 1:40???? Remember, in order to run under 1:40 seconds for the 800m, you have to average UNDER 50 seconds/lap. Superhuman or cheetah-like speed!!!!!!!!!!!
If he had someone to pace him until 600m and modern day super spikes he might have had a chance to go under 1:40. However, 1 second is a huge difference in these regions, but mid to low 1:40 would have been possible
