I recently revealed the genders of my two girlfriends. It got a lot of hate and now has 30 times more dislikes than likes. I am really sad that people can be so mean. Sorry for using your comment to talk about my problems, dear lot
THIS is the type of waiter restaurants need. Not dickheads rushing for things, demanding them in seconds in order to get more chances for a 1 pound tip -_-
and then calmly asking him, if he had a talk with the chef, while sporting a serious face without a hint of malice, only his eyes revealing his disdain after turning around
JP is awesome. You can tell he and Ramsay had a dynamic they understood and got along. I love how he just feeds the wedding planner to the biggest shark in the tank
@@MrNeosantana It's a 6 in one, half dozen in the other. The FOH has to schmooze and charm (i.e. stall) very often, and the stuff the chef says at the cooks, the guests say at the FOH. But the FOH can't ever lose their head. They don't get to tell someone to f*ck off, and take the flack from both sides. But the bottom line is when the tickets get remade, the cost analyzed, the BOH is the one who gets the talking to. It's a very complicated partnership.
@@robinholmes8390 I think you saw my comment a bit superficially. It's not about all FOH, but the Maître d'hôtel in particular. The training for it is grueling, and you have to remember literally everything. A good maître d'hôtel is sometimes paid significantly more than the hotel manager, with good reason.
Him talking to the table with all the ladies is actually underrated big brain. He knew the kitchen would fall if he didn’t stall for time. What a Genius!
There's a reason JP is the maitre d'! He knows what he is doing and is very good at his job. He has been working with Gordon since he was 19/20. As far as I am concerned, JP is second in command of the restaurant (except for the kitchen where that would be the sous chef).
The Yugoslav people were migrating all across Europe due to the brutal wars during the breakup of Yugoslavia. You can probably find more Croats in Belgium
Gordon was trying to teach them to settle their problems in a civilized manner in front of customers. It was more like role play, because they weren't in front of customers but in one of the very back rooms of the kitchen. He just needed them to act like they're always in front of customers when they have to sort out interpersonal issues.
When Gordon mentioned putting a sign, it reminded me of when my grandparents moved house and their new one had a sliding glass door at the back. There was a pattern on the glass at around human eye height, so it was easier to tell if the door was open, but my grandparents also had a cat who'd never been in a house with a glass door. So on the cat's first day, my grandparents saw her run into the kitchen, thinking she was going for food, but then heard a thud. When they went to investigate, they saw their cat standing by the door looking surprised because she'd just ran into it. They ended up buying a butterfly sticker to put on the glass near the floor, so she could see it
JP baiting the wedding planner into a trap that he knew was gonna work for sure was absolutely hilarious. And their sarcastic remarks right after lmao, that was so funny
Jean Phillipe has been with Ramsay since his early days at restaurant aubergine in the 1990s. Imagine the dedication it takes to work for someone like Gordon Ramsay for all those years.
Gordon is passionate but he has always been good to hardworking and dedicated employees. He does a lot of work for the culinary world like spreading awareness of addictions. Plus the yelling is played up to a degree for TV. JP is smart and good at his job, they probably have a good working relationship and friendship.
Almost everyone who has or had worked with Gordon Ramsay have all said that despite his perfectionist attitude, he is nice to work with and for and JP has known Gordon for such a long time I think is a good indication of that ☺️☺️☺️
@@toshtaggart2510 yea at some point insults become jokes. If I think correctly I believe Gordon tends to correct people on JP’s names since they tend to always want to make it more French? Like which annoys him. I may just be saying bs but some clips I’ve seen he does.
The way his attitude changed when the girl burnt her hand. He's known for screaming at people but he's actually really nice and caring. And the dedication of that girl! She's *is* a chef
5:37 gordon speaking so softly and trying to help her burn as quickly and as gently as possible shows although he's always yelling in the kitchen, he really does care for his chefs.
I love how Gordon instantly recognises when it’s time to be the good guy and abandon his usual shouting persona when someone gets hurt badly. Shows maturity.
@@bringbackmyspace7112 you know we have a better mortality rate than you guys right or are you just going to live with your FREEDOM (despite most countries in the world having ) freedom
I always loved the sparkle in JP's eyes when he encouraged someone to go to the chef counter to confront Gordon. He knew what was going to happen then he acted so innocent after the customer got reamed by Gordon. "Did you get your problem solved?"
@@debc4567 Yeah it’s against the health code you should never touch yourself in anyway when working with food or you have to wash your hands again before continuing
It’s so childish but you know Van would take that as a serious insult because of how immature and macho he was trying to be. JP knew exactly how to get under his skin.
Gordon failing to conceal a smile at "Yes but he speaks Texas" I think is my all time favorite moment. My second all time favorite moment knows who it is and can speak for itself.
@Hungti I remember saying "Ladies first" to a schoolmate in basic school. He got so mad, and confronted me. I punched him and he got bitchy. Such an underrated insult you can say to another "man".
Heather still working after that burn, and then *spoilers* going on to win the whole thing, shows why she really deserved to win. Favourite contestent.
@@ButterNutSqwoosh she was season 2, and honestly. It wasn't too good, the guys were mostly super unbearable to watch, and the girls, except for Heather didn't seem to want it.
@@lilhinata_02 me too. 💔 it seems like she’s in more pain about having to leave her team behind during a service than her severely injured hand and it really gets me every time
Jean Phillip does not get enough respect. And it kills me man. That guy literally ran that dining room single handedly for many years. And I know where the guy with that blue shirt got that shirt, unless he got it from a goodwill, he bought it from *citi-trends* I used to have the same shirt. Back when I was a teen.
Especially when he (and the servers) have to deal with customer complaints when service is slow or when he has to tell customers they aren't getting food because Ramsey has shut down the kitchen, which I remember happening much more in early seasons.
5:33 love how Gordon takes it so seriously and not berating her for getting an injury, rather treating her like she was his daughter and speaking gently to keep her calm and making sure she’s okay. Such an amazing guy.
People literally try to tell me “these shows are just him screaming in people’s faces and talking down to them, no one should be treated like that, you can’t talk to another human being like that. Nah dude, this is him trying to put reasoning into their heads, they are smart people but he needs them to learn from their mistakes, not only on Hell’s Kitchen but Kitchen nightmares where yeah, he’s gonna critique the food, but he WANTS to help the crew be successful. He’s not just there to be an awful person. I even showed this guy the video of Gordon meeting his 12 year old fan who had leukemia and made her day, as well as donating the remaining 10k to her treatment.
@@xplatypus516 to add to that. These are all experienced chefs who should know how to cook, MasterChef not as much, so he doesn't get as angry, but in this show he gets more angry because all of them are experienced chefs
It's the calmest ones that explode the biggest. Also I find it crazy that there's no comments saying Gordon was harsh on JP in the last bit. He tried calmly talking to Van (in order to help him, even), but gets pissed when Van jeopardizes the safety of other people by running in the restaurant and still doesn't listen to him. I think he has every right to be pissed at that point, if he had Gordon's personality he would've lost it when Van insisted on serving the wrong table.
@@kaichisendou totally agree, van is just an arrogant nob who thinks he can get things wrong and have it be no big deal. If Gordon wasn’t up to his eyes in head-cheferry and actually knew what van was doing I’m sure he’d understand why JP was mad.
to see someone like Heather still communicate exactly what she had going after she spilled that sauce over her fingers brought an instant tear to my eye, that hurts bad..!
You could tell Gordon was highly impressed by Heather’s dedication. There’s a lot to learn from in that clip. First, you see her trying to hold it together until she looks at her hand, then begins to panic. Immediately, Gordon directs her attention to him, gets her hand under water, and calms her down, giving her the moment she needs to regain control over herself. Which once she does, she immediately snaps back into that wholly professional mindset. She was helping her crew until the very last second, as she went out the door. That’s impressive.
"I was just trying to keep Hell's Kitchen going, but JPs all on my nuts." Bro, no. He's trying to make it so you don't serve at the wrong table and you get the orders damn right. As long as you aren't in the kitchen with Gordon, JP is the man you should listen to-whether you're a cook, another waiter, or a customer.
He yells because he's passionate and because it's entertaining, especially in HK since it's supposed to essentially be chef boot camp. But he's always compassionate when he needs to be, it's prob why myself and so many others always come back for more Gordon Ramsay.
@꧁ Western girl ꧂ well not ONLY because it's entertaining lol but they've brought back squads in the past to have competitive services and stuff and Gordon doesn't treat their mistakes nearly as harshly. Maybe it's just cuz he respects them more by then and knows they'll correct it but still, it's an interesting difference. I've also read articles that indicate that off camera he's really not like that lol so I kinda think that it's largely just part of the Gordon tv image. It's why I personally find HK the most entertaining cooking show ever lol. I think it just manifests most especially on this show where he's trying to find/create the strongest chef of the bunch.
When JP said “He’s from Texas.”, you could see on Gordon’s face that he wanted to laugh so hard 😂 But he kept it together. But just look at his face 😂 9:57
I love Van’s giant grin when Ramsay yells at JP then JP comes back with that and Ramsay laughs and walks off and Van’s smile just fades into confused disappointment
I still don't understand, the hidden meaning or joke.. Can anyone pls explain, I know hes from texas and the other belgium, they both speak english then what makes Gordon laugh?
I would like to remind everyone that, he might not be the chef but JP is the Maître d'Hotel, he's not just a waiter, it's a very prestigious title and a very important role, responsible for the entire front of the restaurant. You won't find a lot of real Maîtres, even in France, but I can tell you JP is it.
Too right. And to work at a Michelin star level for perfectionists like Gordon Ramsay takes a massive amount of trust and skill. People like that are like gold dust.
Yup! You mostly find them in high end restaurants, or restaurants with such a high number of plates and clients that you need a guy to lead the waiters. It's a very important job!
