American football fan; this guy had the greatest stiff-arm EVAH. He could just throw guys out of his way. I an new to rugby but Jonah is the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time).

His 40m/43.7 yards dash was 4.3 - 4.4 seconds. Fastest ever allblack over the 10m mark. I never called him jonah i called him cuzzy lol. His mum Hepi and my dad Feteleni were second cousins. Dads from ha apai tungua tonga so jonahs my fanau/family.
666Crenado Michael Jordan will always be more famous and well known then Jonah Lomu, Michael Jordan is a better athlete and MJ played basketball before Lomu
I am english and i can watch highlights of those tries against us again and again and again and not get bored. he changed what it meant to be a back and a big reason why so many rugby Players now have such well pais careers. beast on the field, gentleman off it. a true legend
Remember a lot of those international moments like it was yesterday. The guy was one of the most memorable things I've seen in the game. Beautiful and terrible at the same time. A true great.
From all of Australia RIP Jonah u Legend :( Some ppl were born with gifts that the ordinary ones could only dream of, Jonah you had gifts that the elite could only Dream Of, Sadly gone but Never Forgotten
After watching both parts I kinda feel sorry for the guys getting in the way. By 1997 I'd have just let him run past and save myself a trip to hospital. ....or the morgue.
Lomu scored as many tries with this speed, step and swerve as he did with pure brute force. He was an incredible player. God I wish that someday someone invents something that can make a person young again. I'd kill to watch Lomu in his prime again.
I have never seen such a big sportsmen in my life. It's including all the idols nowadays in tennis, football, handball, waterball, volleyball, rugby, golf, etc. I think he is the man of the XXth century, really. As more as I can watch him again, he is more an idol of me.Just incredible guy. I'm a very lucky man, that I have seen him on the TV by LIVE. He was like an outstanding parson on the courts. Poor England had absolutely no chance. Sorry. Thta WC was one of my best moment in my life. All Blacks team was equal to the Earth Team really......
RIP Jonah, really sad day, Greatest player i've seen, even had pleasure of watching him up close when he came to Cardiff at end of his career, these videos are amazing.
I am so sorry to say this but Jonah Lomu has recently died. I am so so so very upset, he was my hero! Please spread the sad news. It is just coming to light here in NZ.
My daughter & I have been studying New Zealands History , Tonight The Haka War Cry , Dance . Challenge, So obviously as we progressed I told her The Haka is Always performed before the All Blacks play , then straight away I remembered the BEAST , the Legend Jonah Lomu oooooOOOOOOOWWWWWW !! This Machine can put hairs on your chests (even the Ladies pmsl !) , had to share these pt1 & 2, fookin Awesome, Enjoy Guy's :)
One of the most incredible players to ever run with a ball, run for the line, and run through anybody that was brave enough to attempt to stop him reaching it. And a good bloke who overcame a lot of adversity to boot. It takes a very special player to be a king amongst All-Blacks.
purely as a rugby player jonah makes me proud to be a kiwi. but that is only a small part of jonah. his battle and triumph over adversity makes me burst with an amazing mix of pride and humility. if anything ever gets you down or backed into a corner it only takes 10 minutes of watching jonah to realise nothing can stop you.
an absolutely brutal runner of the ball. Will there ever be another jonah. only time will tell. some really good memories jonah and im eternally greatful
From all the videos I've seen about Jonah Lomu, this is by far the best! Great choice of tune. That along with the ending combination might have been the deal break. Thank you for creating and posting.
i went to Wesley college a year behind Jonah and he was a beast on the field , too bad their were no smart devices or some sort of social media back then, cause believe me it would have been a far better highlight reel cause the team also gave him the ball.
mate, these are great vids, thank for allowing me to relive the legend! Such a beast yet sublime speed and step. Sad to see such a talent succumb to cancer so early in his career.
Excellent, Lomu was Power, Speed and Skill. I remember watching Auck play Counties in the early days, Lomu was a rising star Kirwan was on his way out, and the two literally cancelled each other out, two different type players, both AB legends. Same thing happened in a AB trial in the 90s I think aswell. I miss Lomu, his carreer was way too short! Thanks for the vid!!!
@2:51 any normal human being would have been totally disoriented and grounded. Instead the legend gets past 8(!!!) guys, 5 of whom are floored, and scores in the most amazing display of control and power I've ever seen. My thoughts with his family and friends at this time.
The most amazing thing about Lomu was his ability to beat players anyway he choose to. For pace or an elusive in and out or if he just felt like it go straight over the man in front of him. Rugby's Muhammad Ali
What a legend. The type of player that only comes around once in a lifetime. Some of us are fortunate it was our lifetime. OP, thanks for the compilation but if I have one small criticism, it is the captions....they are lame.
this is why he was a special guest during the rwc 2011opening. the absolute mantis rugby player. makes me so proud to be NZ'er. go ALL BLACKS! our boys will bring it home this year
No worries mate. I do agree with you. I too waited for him to get the ball in space, best rugby moments ever. It was exciting to see who was gona get flattened. Take nothing away, the man IS a living legend and will always stand out in my mind as the best there is to shred defences and score tries.
Incredible player, fast and sooo much power. Don't know who would rank as the best player ever, but Jonah's gotta be right up there with them. Thanks for sharing bro...
dont know if the music was sync'd to do that but get shivers everytime i watch 2:15 - absolutely brilliant take and just runs straight past them. how the hell is he so quick at 18 stone?!
For those who are just being introduced to Jonah Lomu. To get an idea of how good this man is: "He is a freak, and the sooner he leaves rugby the better.” Those were the words of England captain Will Carling, after watching the 20 year old Jonah Lomu dismantle his England side, in the semi-final of the 1995 World Cup. -Article by Captain Fantabulous (bleacherreport.(COM)) He was offered a 20 million dollar contract with the Dallas Cowboys even though he had never played american football.
Bloody hell...the way he just steamrolls through the defense...like he wants em to be there so he can just have a go at their nuts. Pure athlete. Magnificent speed.
His style of play reinforces the idea that you have to keep your feet moving and driving forward at all times, however it does help to be really hast and really huge. The guy who gets bulldozed had really bad form on the tackle plus he was standing still while a much large guy was barreling down on him, physics would tell you he stood no chance.
+rypsnort1 Four of the strongest All Blacks could not hold the charging bag when he was training. He ran over the top of them. Not only was he amazingly fast but he was the strongest rugby player ever. A legend.
Awesome! Will Carling (ex-England Captain) once called Lomu a "freak" - hugely powerful but lightning quick. I remember him running over the top of Tony Underwood (England) all too well! One of the all time greats.
I spent most of my childhood hearing... "... and they go wide to Lomu, Lomu, LOMU, LOMU SCORES!!!". I spent countless hours re-enacting what happened to Mike Catt (at 3.47) in my backyard. He truly was the greatest rugby player.
Just wanted to say, there was an annotation saying that a winger on the other team was scared, but what he was doing was a tactical move that a defensive player uses in a two on one situation where you run backwards waiting for either support from your team or for the offensive player to pass it to make a one on one, because giving up twenty yards is better than giving up a try
