When they had her on lease in '79 for their steam program before it got shut down due to the president of the company, at least from what I've heard, getting caught sending funds to the restoration in ways that weren't legal, they took her to Marion, NC and hired out some contractors, and they just went buck wild with tearing her down in the absolute wrong manner. When the Southern leased her, they had to replace a large majority of her stay bolts and piping during their proper restoration and cosmetic rebuild. I've heard that Bill Purdie himself said that there wasn't hardly a run they didn't have to replace a burst pipe or something on her.

PRR 3 chime Marquez. This is actually the same whistle she wore back in 1982 when Bill used her to pinch hit for 2716. Cincinnati to Knoxville through the Rathole. I believe this was from a M class 4-8-2. She wore a whistle from a K4 and a K5. Not to mention she also wore a Q2 in 1989
