One of the greatest characters ever and Ron Glass was perfection in the role! Barney Miller would never have been the same without him.

one of my favorite lines from Harris was when he had to get an emergency suit, and he says something like, all these years getting custom made suits when I look good in anything.

Ron Glass was also AMAZING in the short lived sci-fi series Firefly where he played a VERY different character, Shepherd Book, a pastor with a mysterious past, possibly a former spy.

Harris and Fish were my two favorites on this show.

When I was a kid, a cop named Ron Harris came to our school every year to talk to us. The kids used to refer to him as Officer Hairless.

In a way, Harris was really the one who made this show go. Absolutely irreplaceable..

Actually the best Harris clip was with that Polish guy at the beginning, where Harris says to him that he’s a published author, then asks him if he’s surprised. The Polish guy says “Nope”, and while Harris is smiling he continues “Nowadays, any bumpkin off the street can get a book published”

I like the fact that the writers stopped giving Glass black-flavored lingo as the series progressed.

I just Love Harris! He is very dapper, on the Show, with the other Plainclothes Detectives' He has a heart humour after eating the " Hash Brownies.....lol. ..

I seem to remember Harris's sense of style was not that different than Wojo's in the beginning but quickly evolved.

I always had a crush on Harris.

When the arrest-chasing lawyer heard Harris talking about incorporating, said that it wasn't a good idea, answered a couple questions, and told Harris would be getting a bill for legal services, the way Harris turned around and said, "Say WHAT?"

They left out when he got sued for plagiarism over his book. "Blood on the Badge." I'm still laughing!

Anyone know the name of the episode where Harris tries to go to his book signing but he and Dietrich had to go do a mugging call?

Missed my favourite which has stuck with me for decades... (probably not a perfect quote) "The judge said I can't be appealing any more."
