Hey Outdoorsman Dave, it’s Dave the hut warden here!! Awesome video and I’m glad you had a great time on the Kepler! It was wonderful meeting you and having you stay at Iris Burn campsite; even if you did use the hut facilities ;) hope you are keeping well!
Aaah it’s David (meaning beloved), yeah you were good value, the right stuff for a hut warden, hope you appreciated me telling your boss (if they watch) that you told me off 😂. Loved the Kepler, just wish more people loved watching me post about it 😵💫 Keep up the good work and stop them sneaky cheeky North Island kiwi campers from sitting in your beautiful hut 👋
@@OAPAdventures I’ve not done Milford either, you plan, I come 😊 Personally while great walks are beautiful, they are a bit commercial and over populated, I’m more a backcountry guy.
Hey Dave! Great to come across your channel through Mattsy's interview with Scotty via Alton. Happy tramping; from one hiking Kiwi to another! (although I live across the ditch.) ;)
Hey Sam, nice to have you onboard, I’m not aware of the exact video you speak of, was it a comment I made or someones else please? I’m guessing it’s Scottys gone walkabout !
Oh yes, it was a comment you made on an interview by Mattsy from The Silly Swagman with Scotty from Scotty's Gone Walkabout. :) I follow them both!@@OutdoorsmanDave
Dave we did the Kepler about a month after you. Perfect weather. The toughest section for me was the steep downhill for 3 hours from the last shelter to Iris Burn. Trashed the legs big time
Awesome, yeah I did find myself wondering what it would be like humping the other way up that switchback section 🤔 It’s great to be able to do as a circuit though huh?
@@warwickpreston1653 I liked both, start here if you wish to see & relive the Routeburn ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g1MqUP_aizQ.html
First time watcher and now subscriber. You’re a real character. I’m walking the Kepler in March next year so appreciate the info. I like the look of your blue Macpac jacket. Can you tell me the name if possible. Cheers
@@TheGingaKiwi Welcome onboard Shaun, be sure to see the next two Kepler videos, links in description. Re character, see more of that in my latest release 👋
Loving these mate! Incredible trip. Can't believe how many people are on the trail.. wild. Interested in your intermittent fasting app you were using, can you expand on what tracking app you're using and your process? Cheers mate. Great to see you back on the trail!
Hi Chris, the ap I use for daily intermittent fasting is called Fastic. It’s basically a timer that notifies you when to start or stop your fast depending on the parameters you set, in my case, 16hours. Does this help?
@@chriskeeling223 I met a lady today that has lost 30kg but knows an 8 yr old kid diagnosed with a fatty liver (like my dad) because mum feeds her a keto died. So choose appropriately 🙏
@@OutdoorsmanDave yikes! Will do mate. Just need to cut about 9 kegs. Too many beersies and late evening snacking. Good to have the app to kick me in the bum and keep me accountable hah
Enjoying this series Dave. We'll be starting the Kepler on the 28th. Looking forward to it. Great to see so many Keas around. I fancy a swim in that lake too. 👍
@@OutdoorsmanDave you bet i will. Just wish the flight from Austria wasn't so damn long and expensive. But hey in the meantime I have lots of hikes and adventures to do in my home country!
Fair statement and well yes it is a fancy rubbish bag but but it’s been enhanced. Have you ever had wet rubbish seep out of your plastic bag into pack, ever wanted to compact that wet rubbish without squeezing crap into your pack (like semi empty tuna or curry packets), ever have your rubbish bag puncture, or dislike one use plastic bags, well this is why I like the stash, it eliminates all of the above.
Great video Dave. Just a little feedback. I think it's probably best to not film people at the huts. They always look a little unsure if they want to be on camera. I know I wouldn't want someone filming me randomly if I was trying to relax at the hut after a long day tramping.
Due to short captures (often of the first meet) of what is a longer interaction off screen, I agree with you that it’s difficult for viewers to comprehend the fuller picture. Thanks for taking time to present your perspective & feedback 👋
You are correct, I think a week before our trip, high winds forced people to stay another night at Luxmore, I guess that’s the reason too for both shelters.
